100% fire resistance grants immunity to all fires, no matter how deadly. A level 5 cleric could take a bath in lava and then dry off with a nuclear explosion.
Immunity to nonmagical weapons scales without limit. You could get hit by the freaking moon colliding with the earth and survive as long as it didn't have a +1 or better enchantment.

Huh. I played more 1st than 2nd edition, but in first ed. higher monster lvls could hit like magical weapon types. I think 4+1 Hit dice (HD) could hit as +1. Rising with lvls. 6,8, and then 10 plus HD hitting like +4.
EDIT: The Barbarian class from 1st ed Unearthed Arcana could as well.

some of the higher level monsters in BG2 their attacks count as higher level weapons, like for example i think elementals hit as if they have +4 weapons, fire giants hit with +2 weapons

ABSOLUTE immunity only protects against +5 weapons or lower.
On a side note: Protection Against Magical Weapons is the true absolute immunity because in context someone could stab you with Godsbane and you wouldn't even feel it.
Suddenly everyone and their uncle has +2 weapons or higher
I always thought that was a real rip off of a Hell Trial choice after playing into ToB a few times as it seems about useless. Seems like the +1 protection and then the 'Monty Haul' quantity of magical weapons used by forces against CHARNAME was made by two different developers that were out of touch.

It would take ancient artifact known as Normal Average Arrow to take you down, but who could've have access to something so scarce?
It's fun to unleash fury of normal weapons on those smug mages, who think that they are invincible after casting PfMW.

well at the same time you dont want it so every enemy you are going to fight against to have only +1 weapons or less, because then you would be completely invincible
but with that being said, it's still not too bad of an ability, there is still quite a few enemies whose weapons are affected in ToB: - all the enemies in the saradush barracks - all the archers in the saradush sewers - the dwarves weird whacky attack in the sewers - all the baddies in that weird little area between the sewers and the prison - some shades - githyanki - the drow archers in sendai's enclave - some of the slaves in sendai's enclave - fell cats - the koa-toas in abizigals enclave - some of the mercenaries in amkethran - possibly mind flayers - possibly burning man
and that is just what i can think of at the moment, so it's not like it's completely useless, and if you are someone who can cast protection from magical weapons, and have this hell trial ability, then you are completely invincible against any weapon attack period, so if you don't need the constitution bonus, its aight
Hehheh, I probably won't test the flayers on that with no-reload runs for darn sure until I knew for certain. "Say bubba, can you pull my brain out while I have protection from... "Slurp, Ahhh, that was a tasty brain".
I know that immunity to psionics doesn't actually prevent you from getting your brain eaten but imagine an item that did.
I imagine a Mind Flayer getting progressively angrier as it fails to eat even the fun sized brain of Minsc (or the least intelligent NPC in the series by stats, Yeslick)

It's weird you say that, because with Weimer's Item Upgrade mod, you can actually upgrade Lilarcor to a +5 weapon that gives immunity to Intelligence stat drain. It then becomes the ultimate Minsc weapon !

Well, it is useful if you do the Test of Fear first and then go to meet Sarevok in the Test of Wrath. He is using a non-magical sword so you can have your Sorcerer Charname with 7 STR, 9 CON tank him while the rest of the party kills him with ranged weapons.

I've had that problem myself for a while.

Poor unfortunate souls, in pain. In need. This one wants to save her father, that one wants to get the gold and do I help them?
Yes I do

I actually like this absurd logic.
