Ghost and goblins and ghouls, oh my! The sixth issue of the Wild Surge magazine has materialized from the mists, bringing with it tales of ominous spirits and woe.
Dip into the Belgariad's lore and discover the tragic Marags, then learn how to raise the dead from their eternal slumber in Diablo 3: Rise of the Necromancer.
Explore the Weeping Widow Inn in the snowy wastes of Targos (Icewind Dale II) and peer into another's souls through a Watcher's eyes in Eora (Pillars of Eternity).
And what's a good ghost story without a few crumbling ruins? Hear the tales of Durlag's Tower, a bard and her singing ghosts, and the remains of an ancient chapel.
But fear not, good reader, for when your heart is racing and your mind is tired, our good storyteller Anduin the Gnome will bring you back home. Just, ah... Mind the mummy trappings.
Sweeping thanks go to everyone who made this issue possible: @deltago, @O_Bruce, @SFisch, @mlnevese, @typo_tilly, @JuliusBorisov, @Anduin, @Vallmyr, @Nonnahswriter, @semiticgod, and, of course, you guys! Fellow forumites of the Baldur's Gate and Beamdog community.
All of our previous issues can be found at https://www.wildsurge.ca/archive. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or would like to get involved in the Wild Surge, please email us at the.wild.surge@gmail.ca.
We sincerely hope you enjoy! And Happy Halloween...

Lady Alyth upstairs in the Elfsong Tavern tells you about it.
~...we have lost the Lady. Often we are blessed by a strange phantom voice. It is an elvish maiden lamenting a lost love drowned at sea. Her voice is quite beautiful, and the reason I purchased this establishment in the first place. She has not uttered a note for nigh unto several tenday. Surely it is an omen of sorts, though I canna say of what. I would have thought the economic troubles of the land too paltry to affect the concerns of the dead, but matters are often more complicated than they seem. I suppose they are often simpler as well, though that truth does not support my argument quite as well...
What you gonna cast? (Animate Dead!)
If there's something weird
And it don't look good
Who you gonna call? (Not a cleric!)
...
Poltergeists are a sadly forgotten breed. They need love too.
Maybe for Mother's Day though...

Another great issue, thanks ya'll.
Valentines has cupids.
A Mummie for Mothers day is an excellent corporate tie in that the world desperately needs.
...
But is the public ready for such a mind blowing concept?
Besides mummified gnomes, what topics or themes would you like us to cover in the upcoming year?
Different races? Classes? Weapons? Monsters? Everything is fair game since this magazine is for you and this community.
We are looking to do 6 issues (one a month was testing everyone's sanity level) a year so we are looking for 6 unique ideas to write about.
So if you've got an idea for a theme, share it here so we can shower it with likes and insightfuls and maybe use it in an upcoming issue!
And thanks again for your continued support and being the amazing community that you are.
There is precious little known about it. What exactly is wild magic? Where does it come from? Or who was Nahal? There are many spells named after him (or her).
I'm not sure how *canon* that is, but in the Sandrah mod there are a lot of references to Mystril, the pre-Mystra, and the priestess of Mystra often refers to her as the first wild mage and the reason why wild magic is part of Mystra's domain of *All magic*. The battle of Mystril vs Karsus is a repeated topic in the mod as well.

Why not an article explaining why the supposedly weaker monsters are so reckless and bloodthirsty? I for one would love to know their reasoning. What is the reasoning that drives a group of 3 or 4 goblins to scream at the top of their lungs and dive into the fray against my party of battle hardened warriors equipped with the best armour money can buy and armed to the teeth? Perhaps adventurers bodies give off a scent that drives lesser creatures wild?
Maybe they have a dim racial memory of the wholesale slaughters performed by adventurers in days of yore? Maybe it's merely that they have brains the size of peanuts but inquisitive minds need to know!
A weapons or item edition would be nice and it could link up with an item creation tutorial. Underrepresented items or special effects for instance.
In game easter eggs, references to pop culture, movies or other games. I think that could be plentiful.
An artificial intelligence edition perhaps? Maybe there are some new games out there that could also be reviewed. And it could lead to an AI scripting tutorial.
A food version, where each dish described in the infinity engine cook books are prepared, reviewed and rated. Infinity's top chef competition perhaps?
Also, Bards you say? Sounds like a winning issue.
On the topic of reviews I like the format of 'things I liked' vs. 'things I would change'. It's more positive than cold hard numbers .
