“Good,” Emeril says with a nod. “I hope you’ll come to an agreement. His manor isn’t hard to spot. Just head to the market square, and look for the only guarded house.”
*Anduin drops his hands and hangs his head in defeat*
I can't save them all... Not until I complete my quest, my mission, my duty. I am fully rested, this was always going to be the most dangerous part... It could lead to... Conflict.
*Anduin raises his head and casts a portal spell. The vision of a well presented town house could just be glimpsed before Anduin steps into the portal and disappears*
And so the party makes their way to the mayor’s manor. The front door is closed, and a pair of well armed guards stand at the entrance. As they approach, the two guards step forward and block their way. “Halt!” one of the guards shouts. “You approach the home of the esteemed Sir Stralchus, mayor of Callus. What business have you with our lord?”
"Well.. " Vaga looks around the group "We are Kaled, Guston, Fiona and Vaga of course. We're hear to help organize the city's defenses and we've been told the Mayor can help with that. Now let us in, time is of the essence."
Ignatius hovers up in the air, looking for any open windows in the guarded manor, through which he can directly enter inside without wasting time in the cumbersome process of reasoning with pedantic guards.
If there are no accessible windows, Ignatius will use Charm Person on the guards.
It seems that I finally got an opportunity to use Charm Person in this adventure.
*Fiora steps forward* "I apologise for my companion. He doesn't like the ground you see, we catch him floating all the time, even indoors. A large host of orcs is approaching the town. We come seeking counsel with the mayor. As a fellow, but inexperienced, night, I would find his advice and experience paramount."
Guard: Will save: 18 (25% chance to make the save, and he makes it... geez)
As Fiora says this, the guard, who is fully aware that the flying kid just cast a spell on him, shouts “Intruders! Ready crossbows!” The two guards at the door then draw their halberds, and the one who talked first says “Drop your weapons and surrender! If you are indeed an honorable sort, you will comply!”
“Be careful, friends,” says Guston as one of his boils pops loudly. “As you can see, I have a horrible curse from the grain goddess. In a twist of cruel irony, she has made me a tool in her hands. She has it in her mind to cleanse this land of its barrenness, but that will be impossible if the orcish army bearing down on this town lays it and your homes in ruins.
“Just a fair warning, as I am on her errand and you would do well to heed us and allow passage. She can be as fickle as the harvest. It would not surprise me if she were to spare the lives of those who stood in our way when the orcs come if only to see those particular individuals suffer the same fate in life as I have.”
Another boil pops and spews forth green sickly puss into the air. Guston scratches at the rash as he speaks.
Vaga holds up his hands in front of him, as a gesture of non-violence, though being a monk means him holding up his hands this way actually sets him up for quick strikes if need be.
"Hold now, friends. There's no need for violence. We will comply, bring us to the Mayor and let us talk to him. See, we haven't even unsheathed our weapons, would aggressive assassins come in here with their weapons down? I know I'm not the diplomatic sort, but please listen. We really don't have time for this or for being sent to the dungeons.
By the way, the weird floating kid who just turned invisible is just a weird.. floating.. kid. Ahem.. nevermind him or his parlor tricks, he means nothing by it. He probably only tried to charm you to get you to give him candy."
Vaga's poor charisma makes his diplomatic attempts and lies quite obviously fake, nonetheless he will always try out the non-aggressive way first. Vaga looks for support from Fiona, Kaled and Guston. With Guston's sincere preaching and Vaga's sinc.. well not so sincere, but at least upfront, surely the guards will see reason, he thinks to himself while still holding up his hands in front of him, though he slowly starts to clench his fists. Just in case.
The guards seem a little apprehensive at Guston’s words, but they manage to steel themselves and direct their halberds at him. “Drop your weapon!” the guard in front commands.
Upon hearing Vaga’s, erm, attempt at deception, the other guard laughs and says “Don’t worry. We’ll give him all the ‘candy’ he needs if he ever shows his face again. I guarantee it.”
Fiora: Diplomacy check: 15+3=18
Upon seeing Fiora’s act of compliance, the guards nod and motion for Guston and Kaled to do the same. “Come on, then,” they say. “Drop them!”
*Anduin steps from portal into a shadow between two buildings across the marketplace, he has used many times before, casts invisibility, then scurries across to view the scene of Guston, Kaled and Fiora disarming themselves before the guard.*
*Nodding in acceptance that the fate of himself and his quest are somehow intertwined with Fiora and the freeing of Guston, Anduin awaits patiently for the party to enter so he can follow behind.*
*Watching a guard open the door for the party to enter. Anduin takes his chances, skirts around the party and into the main hall. Seeing the stairway, Anduin saunters over and climbs the steps and starts exploring the 2nd floor corridor. He sees a door open to an obvious bedchamber, most likely the masters and enters, hoping to find a chest or safe that a knight of renown would keep his treasures in. On entering the room, Anduin finds something...*

As Ignatius floats overhead, the other guard looks up and starts to shout a warning.
"I apologise for my companion. He doesn't like the ground you see, we catch him floating all the time, even indoors. A large host of orcs is approaching the town. We come seeking counsel with the mayor. As a fellow, but inexperienced, night, I would find his advice and experience paramount."
