Vaga instinctively believes the mind attack he just felt and repelled was from the intense woman. She probably tried to charm attack him into leaving peacefully.
He adresses her directly, he's not really known for subtlety or playing the whole "cloak and dagger" thing.
"I believe you are trying to get us out of here, why is that? Why do you not want us to meet with Sir Stralchus? I suspect you are up to something."
Listen check @nimran? I suppose we hear the explosion as well, but won't play it out until you give the green light
“I have no idea what you are talking about,” Veronica says. “And my husband is ill, as I stated. He will not see anyone, much less some ruffians who refuse to leave when his wife asks them to. If you do not leave, I will have my guards escort you out.”
It is at this point that the party and everyone in the manor hears a loud explosion from upstairs. Veronica gasps and rushes back through the door she came from.
Ignatius backs away from the window to avoid any further chances of catching the flames emanating from it. After hovering away to a safer distance, he bows his head in bereavement for the old gnome who had become the unfortunate martyr of unexpected circumstances, while fighting as the saviour of imprisoned souls, himself now being trapped in a burning room. He ponders upon what to do, as there doesn't seem any immediate solution to this crisis. He must wait...
*Fiora sighs heavily and scoops up her weapon and shield, tossing Guston his equipment*
"Guards! your master is in danger! Help us to save him!"
*Fiora rushes upstairs, hoping the guards follow, and leave Ignatius alone.*
If I'm not present for the next batch, Fiora is planning to cast detect evil when in range of Veronica, unless someone is in immediate danger. She will move to protect her companions or a defenseless npc first.
Fiora steps into a hallway. To her left, the hallway leads to another set of stairs leading down. To her right is the sound of things burning. Veronica is nowhere to be seen. However, an army of guards currently blocks the way to the right, as they are rushing to and fro. “Water!” Fiora hears the cry from the crowd. “Bring up water from the basin!” “The basin doesn’t hold that much water!” another voice yells. “We need a bigger source!”
I am presuming I have enough hitpoints to survive a fireball... I should have checked the size of the room...
*Anduin is frothing angry casts:fireshield casts:endure elements. He has failed finding his item, found demons and more pointless savagery sending souls to the gods who would enslave them. Anduin spits in the furnace that is the room.*
Curse you all! A blight take your eyes! CURSE YOU!
*Anduin attempts to drag and pull out the burnt body of Sir Stralchus from the room.*
Anduin tries as hard as he can, but Sir Stralchus is heavy, and the fire is everywhere. He is unable to pull the mayor away. Meanwhile, everything is still burning.
Vaga also rushed in when Fiona did and finds himself in the chaos of guards rushing back and forth. He heard the explosion coming from above, they all did, so he takes the stairs up and moves towards the source of the fire.
Guston takes off in the direction of the explosion, making sure to keep to the shadows as he stuffs his magical dagger back into his belt. He casts sanctuary on himself for good measure... who knows if one of those guards will take liberty and try something despite the panic.
Coming up, Vaga sees alot of flames and the crazed gnome trying to drag the body of a man out. He rushes in, not caring about the flames, and tries to help. He recognize the gnome he tried to sap in the face, but nonetheless tries to help since it seems the gnome is himself helping the injured man.
Vaga grabs Sir Stralchus and manages to pull him out of the burning room. The guards immediately start patting him down, trying to put out the fire. After a while, they succeed in putting the fire out. The smoke is billowing out of the room at this point, and one of the guards says “We need to evacuate the building! Quickly now!” The guards head towards the exit, taking Sir Stralchus with them.
A three on my strength check... Remind me never to melee again.
*Anduin nods to Vaga his thanks*
Beware of the mistress of this house. She is in league with demons and can use foul sorcery. She has trapped the soul of the master of this house in a Soultaker dagger. Retrieve it and we can still save him. ... Unless you want to punch me again... You know hold person is a pretty harmless spell...
*Anduin cautiously awaits for Vaga to make a decision as the floor in the bedroom begins to collapse in a flurry of embers*
Fiora takes the lead in getting Sir Stralchus and the less able guards outside to safety, and starts organizing the rest to try to put out the fire. One of the guards, a large, bearded man with a handlebar mustache, asks “How are we going to put out the flames? There isn’t enough water.”
Vaga, Guston, and Ignatius hear the sound of a dog barking, just as rain clouds start to gather over the house, and only over the house. Rain starts pouring down upon the roof suddenly, and the guards look amazed.
"I won't try to attack you." Vaga replies to the gnome. As always, Vaga goes by actions to judge someone's character and this time the actions of the gnome seem to benevolent. Vaga is a trusting guy and seldom holds grudges, as seen in the camp with Nate and the strange workers and with the orcs rounded up by Harvey and the scorpion man.
Vaga notices a dog barking outside and soon hears the unmistakable sounds of raindrops hitting the roof of the building and the "hiss-sound" from water falling on fire. He thinks to himself, no doubt the little druid fella Harvey is up to things again. It's strange that he is in league with the orc king yet still tries to help as well.. Too bad we never got the change to talk to him before he melded into that wall and disappeared. Ah well, maybe next time.
Vaga looks at the gnome and says: "Should we go after the sorcerer mistress? I've already felt her intense powers attacking my mind once, so I trust you when you say she's up to no good." Vaga being alone right now, without the comfort of his more competent leader companions Fiona and Kaled, is not so keen on taking decisions himself. He hope the gnome has good advice.
*Anduin smiles a toothy grin whilst he continues to smoulder slightly. *
Really, she attacked you with a mind spell and you shrugged it off? You must have latent magical abilities! Ha!
*Anduin smacks his side and then doubles up in a fit of coughing.*
Okay, our to do list. Find the witch. Retrieve the dagger. Save the soul. Save the knight. Save the combined multitude of races from eternal enslavement.
Guston comes up on the scene just as they are conversing. He takes the opportunity to look for any valuables that he might... ahem... *save*. After all, if things end up in his possession, they likely would have been consumed by the fire.
He especially keeps his eyes open for things that look magical.
Regardless of tre results of his search, as he approaches Anduin and Vaga conversing, his eyes bulge and flicker conspicuously towards the gnome’s fingers where he suspects a certain ring may be worn.
Guston doesn’t find much in the room that wasn’t destroyed by the fire. However, he does find a mysterious black cloak that seems to have been miraculously untouched by the flames.

If Guston wishes, Ignatius will attempt to identify it.
Ignatius reappears at the scene, keeping an eye for any guards who may try to attack him.

Lead me to the last place you saw her.
Ignatius says to the gnome:
"We will be glad to lend our aid, If only your cause you clearly said. For without knowledge of your intentions, 'Twill be hard for us to follow your directions."
*Anduin looks at the floating child and wrinkles a brow in concentration.*
My intentions be noble and good, But can lead me to conflict and blood, My quest may seem selfish and villanous, For I need to steal and rob the incredulous, For they will not give up their prizes, (And neither would you, I summarises) For my enemy is the gods, Who treat us like dogs,
*Anduin looks at Guston*
I've said to much. By Lathander's pain and suffering, far too much. Let us find this harlot, and save the poor knight. His soul has been taken. If an enemy of the gods you wish to have fight beside you? You know I have to still pray to the buggers to get my spells. They don't seem to notice or care, perhaps you won't either...
Vaga nods and repeats what the gnome said; "OK.. so find the witch. Then retrieve the dagger. Then save the soul of the knight. And lastly save the combined multitude of races from eternal enslavement. Let's do it."
Vaga looks around, Fiona seem to have catched up, Ignatius is around as well, so is Guston. They are ready.
"Let's go confront a sorceress." Vaga says in his normal neutral tone, as if he just suggested they should go to the pub for a dinner.
"Do you know which way she went, gnome?" Vaga looks at Anduin with a raised eyebrow. He continuously flexes and clenches/releases his fists. He has also unwrapped the cloth he usually have around his knuckles to reduce the damage of his fists.

I’ve been calculating damage behind the scenes. The Fireball did 35 damage to everything in the room.

Guston: Listen check: 16+2=18
Ignatius: Listen check: 19+4=23
