He really is an utter buffoon. How a man can have so little self-awareness at anywhere near his age boggles my mind. Trump claiming to have a head for science is akin to a small child thinking they are smart because they learned a new concept. I hope against hope that before he dies he'll finally be fully cognizant of how below average his intelligence really is.
The New York Times asked male readers to share their experiences with forcing themselves on women. A lot of people only responded to say they never had, of course, and others admitted doing so but wouldn't submit their stories unless they could do so anonymously (I have no idea why the Times wouldn't agree to publish anonymous accounts) for fear that they would lose their jobs or see their reputations destroyed.
There weren't a lot of examples, but the folks who did tended to be near retirement and had no careers that could be destroyed by coming forward. They all express guilt, and sometimes they felt guilty the very same day it happened (as opposed to realizing it was wrong only long afterwards). Still, the sample size is so small and so specific that I'm not sure how informative it really is on the subject of sexual harassment and assault more generally: it doesn't contain any instances of rape (only harassment) and it excluded all the men who were willing to tell their story but not willing to be publicly named, a requirement that seems completely unnecessary to me.
My objection is that the whole concept of *instinct for science* I completely antithetical to actual science.
I don't quite agree... assuming one's defining characteristic is always relying on empiricism it could be true. Heck, just being deeply skeptical and seeking out the truth instinctively might qualify.
That said, I entirely agree it is at the very least an odd (read 'dumb') way to say that. Hence my noting his now legendary incompetence.

I'm pretty sure Trump meant it in an, "I know all the science because I'm smart" kind of way.
Covering up the murder of one journalist, playing for laughs the assault of another. I'm sure this is nothing to worry about. This will probably all work out just fine in the end.

This trend in the last week of Republican lawmakers up for re-election saying they are for protecting pre-existing conditions when they have been fighting non-stop for the better part of a decade to eliminate or cripple the law that provides those protections is about the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.
Michael Cohen is calling for people to vote Democratic in the midterms. I don't know what his deal is--as far as I can tell, he's just a criminal who turned on his employer when his employer turned on him. I'm not sure I believe he's sincere. I can't help but think that he's just resentful of Trump and wants to get back at him.

Yeah the endorsement by Cohen is notable that Trump's longtime fixer is supposedly suggesting voting against his former master but as you say the guy saying this is a criminal who should not be trusted. Trump should not be trusted either, obvious liar lies about everything, but take what Cohen says with salt grains.
So seriously, do we really believe the burden should be on the woman in the middle of a miscarriage to pharmacy shop as opposed to this guy doing his job??
At the VERY least (and this is giving this guy's personal objection argument WAY more credence than it deserves), shouldn't any pharmacy that employs these religious pharmacists who may refuse to fill legitimate prescriptions prescribed by a Dr. have to explicitly inform their customers that is the case with some sort of disclaimer?? In which case it would likely cost them business, which would then cause them to be unlikely to hire these zealots in the first place.
Twenty Pakistani men have been convicted of running a rape gang targeting girls as young as 11 in the U.K.
This is the eighth grooming gang targeting underage girls arrested in the UK over the past few years to my knowledge, all of the grooming gangs share the same heritage and it is rampant enough to ask the question of whether this is a cultural pattern of abuse. Rochdale, Oxford, Bristol, Newcastle and more had similar stories. Some were praying on hundreds of underage girls.
One of the more notable ones, in Rotherham, wasn't properly investigated by the police due to fears of being called racist.

The Saudis are going with a "fistfight gone wrong" for their explanation for the death, which does very little to explain the dismemberment with the bone saw. This is the functional equivalent of "uh, I don't know why she has a black eye officer, she must have fell".

I partly disagree, its not really a cultural problem, I see it as more of a gender problem. Men of all backgrounds and ethnicities prey on vulnerable people, this includes even admired church workers who are white, and for some reason the ethnicity of those countless priests was seen as irrelevant. Its mostly a 'man' problem, and its found in any culture that has men, ie all of them. Its not even about sexual attraction, as plenty of straight men rape other men in prison. I see it as a gender issue as women are significantly less likely to commit sexual assaults of any kind.
How many would have been saved from the dreadful consequences had there been acknowledgement that there was a serious problem with their culture? And young girls shouldn't trust what they were being told.
Hundreds of thousands of people have emigrated to the UK who don't begin to share the cultural beliefs of the country. Nor do they have any intention to do so in the future.
And they were allowed to prey on children. For years.

Bull. Not all men are rapists, and women are just as capable as sexual assault.

Sounds more like a problem with your law enforcement to me.
Refusing to investigate sex crimes for fear of being accused of being racist? How backward can your priorities get? The police are not there for optics; they're there to enforce the law. The color of the criminals is irrelevant.
Optics should never get in the way of law enforcement.

Yep - that cover story makes no sense at all. As I said before they were in a difficult situation (obviously of their own making), but I suspect this will probably make things worse. If the Turks really do have a recording of what went on and that is shared with other governments then everyone will know (even if the recording is not actually made public) that the Saudis were and are lying. While lies are a standard tool of diplomacy both sides should be able to pretend that the other is telling the truth. This situation is likely to make diplomatic discussions with Saudi Arabia a lot harder for some time to come.
The scapegoats chosen by the Saudis are already pretty senior and this story could have much further to run. MBS is definitely under threat here.
