@bbear It might not be obvious for new players, although the fact the icon would be in red alone should suffice. The all caps doesn't help making it seem less cluttered either.
In the very south west map of the city baldurs gate are 2 general stores, one sells a katana. The one across from it sells some +1 items along with another "Destroyer of the Hills" girdle.
If you kill the shadow druid leader at the top of the shadow druid lair (the big tree in cloakwood. I looked it up and I guess his name is Amarande) you can take a club +2 off his corpse (its already identified). There isn't anything special about it from an abilities point of view, but it is a club +2
Unfortunately I sold it lol. So I can't remember the name it is given.
Is it just me or are magic items raining from the sky in massive numbers? Minutes into the game I received an awesome mace, "Stupifier +1" which had some 25% chance to stun (no save) I believe.
EDIT: Whoops, I just noticed that someone had already posted this.
Oh right, The Ossifier is a quarterstaff +1 (I think) that casts barkskin on hit. Use it with a low-str mage to have a neverending supply of barkskin. Still not worth it though. EDIT: The barkskin is cast on the one hit by the quarterstaff, just fyi.
I'm wondering about that talon in cloakwood 2, I searched all over that place and didn't find anything... Also "Rashad's Talon +2" is still at the top of Durlag's tower.
I found Rashad's Talon +2 at the cliff in south-eastern corner on the map with spiders in Cloakwood. There was a body with leather armor, talon and some cursed ring.
Did anyone else notice that there are two Fallorain's plates +1 available in the game, even though the in-game description stated it was only worn by one person (Captain Fallorain). I suppose he could have had different armor for different days, but it still seems like an oversight.
yeah i noticed that too. happens with a couple of magic items now, obviously this shouldnt really be the case with any named magic item unless specified otherwise.
On the other hand, I'm really pleased with how overhaul handled the new magic items too. Nothing overpowered, and all very thoughtful additions.

The 'curse' part: Chance to permanently drain life or attributes from the wielder when used.
edit: I get the feeling the items are randomized; now I have to check every club, which drops somewhere.....*yay*

Have'nt found any in the normal campaign yet but not gotten that far yet doing a run with 100% done so taking it slow.
