What race is the ranger? Aasimar, Tieflings, and a few others have XP penalties. Alternatively, if the ranger is in the 6th slot, that party member sometimes has lower XP just from how remainders are calculated.
I have a question about XP. I have a balanced party of 6, we are currently at 3rd level. 5 of the members are at 5371 XP but my ranger is at 4291 XP why is he not with the rest? I have a fighter, barbarian, a rogue, cleric, ranger and wizard.
Any left over exp from a battle goes to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 in that order. So if your ranger is in the 6th position, he will not get as much experience as the member in the 1st position and so on.
If you want your ranger to catch up, put him in the 1st position as the party leader.

That is a 20% difference, which means your ranger is logically a race that gets 20% less experience, a Drow to be specific (Tiefling is -5%; Aasimar is -10%, Deep Gnome is -25%).
The position of characters does not affect XP: that is rubbish. I am in Ch. 3, and my Human Wizard in position 6 has the same XP as my Human Bard in position 1, and they have never changed positions.
EDIT: my apologies for using the pejorative term rubbish. It is sort of insulting and I could have said that more neutral. It is quite possible that the mod fixed how XP use to be distributed.

It certainly didn't used to be "rubbish". I've played IWD2 many, many times and have seen that behavior first-hand. @OlvynChuru did you change the way XP is rewarded so that the party members will always receive an exactly equal amount?

I don't ever remember when I played this game originally that XP was based on party position? They don't do that when you are playing it on Pen and Paper and IWD and Baldurs Gate definately doesn't base it on party position.
2 more questions, first is there any place where I can buy scrolls in Targos because my wizard is pretty much handicapped with only first level spells and I have 2 slots for 2nd level spells! 2nd question do I have to continue using the IWD2EE icon to launch the game?
hey i have a huuge problem , so i quick saved my game while i was in the underdark, solving quest for malavon. Next day when i tried to load my quick save, my party was no longer in the underdark but next to Nickademus in Ice Palace. WHat happened, and how to solve it?

Elytharra sells scrolls (Ulbrec's wife). She's in the room to the right of his desk. He's located in the 2nd area north of the docks in the main town hall. Yes, you have to launch the game with the green IWD2EE icon (as administrator).

Are you using GOG cloud saves? Those seem to be a problem with IWD2. If so, I can only recommend turning those off. Unfortunately, the previous progress may be lost.

[...] My ranger is a Drow and I didn't see that they got less XP than other races though?
In-game, if you open any character Record, you will see an Information button near the middle (above scripts). You can see there the descriptions of races, classes, etc. The XP penalty is noted at the very end of a race description.
I dont have time to play EE right now, but recently I replayed original game and made notes about every bug, inconcistency and overall weird things that could be done better. If EE has plans to fix the game other than make gameplay and balance changes I could post my notes there.
Also I am a bit unsure about new spells in EE, would be great to have some kinda youtube video with showcase of them from the developers. I am especially interested in how visual effects look and does it contrast with original ones.

I can't for the life of me get this to work. I just did a clean install (disk version, not GOG), installed the mod like you would any other, everything seems fine. No errors. However, when I run IWD2EE.exe, nothing happens. The process just terminates within seconds.
The IEex.log also doesn't seem to show any errors either:

Any ideas? Seems like everyone here all uses the Gog version, but if it isn't necessary (and from what I understand, it isn't), that seems like a waste of $10 when my old but trusty disks are still working just fine.
Usially that behavior means you haven't updated IWD2 to the latest patch, but it looks from the log like you have.
Since you're using a custom directory, make sure that the game files are pointing to the right place in the ini. That usually causes a different error, but it doesn't hurt to check.
Open icewind2.ini (in the game folder where you have IWD2EE installed) in Notepad or another text editor and find the lines that say something like this:

Nah it was the first thing. It wasn't patched. I haven't installed a game with discs in so long I forgot manual patches were even a thing. Thanks a bunch.
Really enjoying the enhanced edition, thanks for all the hard work! All the new content has really made my replays more enjoyable. I was afraid some of it may be overpowered but so far it just seems to be keeping some of my team viable instead of power gaming a specific party through HoF!
I tried taking a level of monk to add my wisdom bonus to my AC while wildshaped and it didn’t seem to be working. I haven’t looked more into this but wanted to know if this was a bug or part of the revisions. Also my animal empathy doesn’t seem to be doing anything but I don’t think I tried it often. I think I saw there is already an update i have to look into it after this play through!

you guys come up with any good character builds for the updated classes? 3e always put me in munchkin paralysis. The new options are cool but I'm low key thinking about going back to vanilla classes to keep things simple.
I never played a non ee edition of a game and I gotta say that ui is absolutely tragic. Honestly it would have been cool if beamdog just used the source code for iwd as a foundation and turned iwd2 into a 2.6 game.
Can someone share a stable version of Dale keeper II or other tools that can be used to edit characters? I wish to change a feat in one of my team characeters.. Thanks!

Open icewind2.ini (in the game folder where you have IWD2EE installed) in Notepad or another text editor and find the lines that say something like this:
[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Icewind Dale II
CD1:=C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Icewind Dale II\Data\
CD2:=C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Isle\Icewind Dale II\CD2\
You need to edit these lines to point to the new directory where you're playing IWD2EE.

Animal Empathy should fixed as of the Nov. 24th update.
This was just added/fixed in the latest update to the mod, version 3.2.4, which can be downloaded here: https://github.com/RedChimera/IWD2EE/releases/tag/v3.2.4
