i think people that murder neera just for her gem bag may be worse.
Just loot them, then leave them ... "somewhere".
While playing a Chaotic Neutral Half-orc Cleric/Thief, this was the exact method I used to keep Jaheira but get rid of Khalid. Cast Protection from Petrification on each member of a four or five-member party except one, then go up against the basilisks in Mutamin's Garden. Eventually one of them got 'im.
Oops! Plus being Chaotic Neutral made it perfectly easy to justify in-character.
IS there a an official record for fastest Imoen killing?
Critical hit from any ranged weapon ought to be pretty quick! She has 8 hp so one dart won't do it. Longbow, shortbow or throwing dagger would be fastest. I can't remember the speed factors so can't attest to which would win. I'm pretty sure they're faster than crossbows & throwing axes though.
A critical hit from a dart could do it if you have two pips in darts. You'd only need +1 to damage to be able to land an 8-damage critical with a dart, so even without two pips, you could land the kill with a Berserker, a Blade with Offensive Spin, or an Assassin.
Fastest kill would probably be a Blade. Offensive Spin would give you maximum damage on top of +2 total damage, and the improved movement rate would let you reach Imoen faster. Since it would take a few seconds to buy a ranged weapon, the Blade would probably just attack Imoen with the staff you start the game with. It wouldn't even require a critical; Offensive Spin will ensure the maximum damage of 6, and add 2 for a total of 8, though you'd still want 18 STR for a THAC0 bonus.
Time it correctly and your attack roll might trigger before her dialog. You could do it in maybe 8 seconds.
Just saw this on the net... can we have this option in BG III?
I'm actually reminded of a story I read once in Dragon Magazine surrounding this same idea. Well, not Baphomet, and it wasn't a ranger, but it was about a wizard who tried to make a full grown dragon his familiar. The dragon woke up, laughed, and then made the wizard HER familiar.

I'm an equal opportunity robber myself. I steal all of Xzar and Montaron's goodies too!

Let me put it this way...
