Have a little more faith in old Bill. From the translated German to English:
Throughout history, we meet both old acquaintances such as Minsk, the new comrades from the Enhanced Edition (including Dark Elf mage Baeloth) and four completely new companion . One of them takes over the new shaman class, three offer possible romances.
Somehow I think the person doing the interview may have gotten confused between the old and the new Beamdog companions. I was interpreting the "something like romance" that Trent said to mean continuing your romance with the existing Beamdog companions, not starting romances with the new ones. But seeing as I don't know the exact wording of the question or the answer during this interview, this is just speculation.

Yep, I agree. Like I said before, GameStar 8while not a bad magazine per se) does have the tendency to rush into things and then.. misunderstand some stuff. ^^ And while it is perfectly possible that they got better in the last years (I stopped reading it after I went to PS as my main gaming system) I *do* hear about a rather ..shaky reputation. =/
Well, I'm the last one who would be unhappy about a female soldier as a romance ^_^ (..as long as it isn't ruined/punished by the epilogue.. stupid Divine decision *sigh*)
As for the romance front, I've made a further research, because except for "Romances from BG:EE carry over", the facts' thread doesn't currently have anything more.
So, during the Twitch chat, they said some of new NPCs may have "romance-like things". That's it.
"The player will find many familiar companions as well as four new faces. These include three new romance options, although continuing romances from Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will also be an option."
"Features: - Four new joinable companions with three new romance options - Continued romance options from Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition"
So, taking into account the known confirmation of "romance-like things" for not all, but some of new NPCs , I think it's highly likely that not only we can continue romances with Dorn, Rasaad and Neera in SoD, but also we'll be able to romance with 3 new NPCs out of 4.
As for that http://www.gamestar.de/ article, I found out it when searched for voice over actors because although we were told that they would be revealed in a news article, so far that news article in English hasn't been published.
Now, when @billbisco and @Arcanis began talking about other things mentioned in that article, I paid attention to other details from it.
First of all, it tells us that they spoke to Trent Oster and the things they mention come as a result of this interview.
This is what they reveal (and that wasn't revealed elsewhere):
The price of SoD will be around $20. This answers a long question of how much it will cost (the question I personally made a poll about on these boards a long time ago).
There will be 7 chapters in SoD.
There will be more than 70 new areas, including the repainted areas of Baldur's Gate city.
There will be no Dragonspear Pits (so, no Black Pits 1.5).
In the story of SoD, we'll meet those characters we know, like Minsc and EE characters, including Baeloth. Also, there will be 4 new NPCs, one of whom has a shaman class and three offer romances.
Then goes the part about the voice over actors.
They can't say when there will be a German localization.
There indeed will be not only tactical, but strategic battles in SoD, (I knew that the edited post by a Dev as a reaction to my suggestion in this thread meant exactly this) - for example, the one when our choices before the battle will determine the course of the fight itself.
So, the new UI... when they said they are implementing a new UI I thought they were making it more practical ie you could press a button to change from sword/shield to arrow/bow combination or that resurrected characters could automatically pick their stuff back from the ground where they were killed. Instead what we get is changes only to the character sheet, inventory, spell sheet etc? Also why make the aforementioned sheets windowed and not full screen?

They said they are work in on the sword and board to two handed weapon swap. Donno how it is going though.
There needs to be down sides to death IMO so having all the equipment re-equip upon raise is not something I personally would like. I am more a realist that there should be a body you need to carry (with weight) if you need to return to a temple for a raise dead spell. But that is me and my needs and has nothing to do with UI.
3 new romance options does not necessarily mean the new npcs. Maybe skie can be romanced by us now too (since it seems she has a quest of sorts) or maybe other old npcs....?
@iroumen Skie leaves your party and gets captured. It is highly unlikely for her to get a romance. The articles mwntioned early clearly say or imply romances with the new npcs not the bioware ones.
Oster wants to eventually develop Baldur’s Gate 3.
*cheers*
And if SoD becomes a critically acclaimed success, I'm sure WotC will be more then happy to say "yes". Especially since they seem to have a good relationship and Beamdog is willing to ask for infos regarding official lore - wizards *should* be happy about this kind of stuff ^^

I'd say that if they've managed to get permission to release an expansion for BG1, WotC would be happy with them making an official 3rd instalment - so long as it's successful and fans like it of course.

$20 for an expansion for a base game that cost $20 also. That's a tad bit too much. If this is a true expansion and not a stand alone game that just happens to take place between BG1 and BG2 then it should be a little cheaper than the base game, say about $10.
Now if this were a stand alone game, yeah I could see $20.
Forty quid's a bit steep considering BGEE is only twenty dollars.
I believe Anduin is saying that he's going to buy two copies of the game, implying that he already has done so for the base BG:EE. That would bring it to $40/£30 for BG:EE for him, with a further $40/£30 spent on SoD.
To be quite honest, given my love for the games I'd be willing to drop a fair amount for new content (I won't say how much because I don't want to give the devs ideas!) so I can see where Anduin's coming from - especially if he wants both a PC version and a portable version.

I was commenting one the exchange rate, fortunately beamdog are not one of the companies that believes $1=£1.
$20 seems absolutely fair. Even if it's the same price as the game itself, the game is a rerelease of a 17 year old title that can be gotten as low as $5 nowadays (and if you wait for a sale, you can get BG:EE for that price as well). For 25ish hours of additional brand new content, that sounds like a good price.

I... I do not remember this exchange rate, Google Play. I have tried. I have tried to recreate it, to spark it anew in my memory, 69p used to equal $1... but now it is gone... a hollow, dead thing. For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory. And then nothing. Google play took that from me, too. I look upon you, exchange rate, and feel nothing. I remember nothing but you turning your back on me, along with itunes and all the others. Once my thirst for content was everything. And now I hunger only for revenge. And I... WILL... HAVE IT!

Chris Avellone yesterday answered several question on http://www.rpgcodex.net/. Among them was a question about his future:
"The Future: There is much joy, but it is a joy that cannot be spoken of. Hopefully, I can speak of it soon. In terms of other project you're already aware of - I am working at inXile now for material you're likely already aware of - I'm helping out scripting quests in Sagus Cliffs, and finishing my companion and graphic novel work, among other tasks (playing and critiquing the Numenera Systems Alpha before it's released to the Backers). I did want to work on Bard's Tale, and I was excited about the lore I read from Nathan Long and George Ziets. I had about a page of level design notes about the "Cairn of Horrors" dungeon could work based on that but... alas. Also, I played and reviewed Siege of Dragonspear, but again, you're already aware of that."
So, he doesn't say anything specific about his plans, for now:)
- How do you decide how to partition a backstory (e.g. about a major antagonist, or a location) among individuals in the world (i.e. who knows what about what)?
- (CA): It depends on what you want the player to feel about the location or the antagonist/villain. Usually, you want to build up a sense of mystery and intrigue at first (and with antagonists, the impending threat). After the first few hours, you should be establishing foreshadowing for any additional points beyond the antagonist without giving away the meat of it (for example, in Siege of Dragonspear, the writers start this by seeding the fact that a number of the refugees from Caelar's/the Shining Lady's Crusade seem strangely resolved and fine with being dislocated from their homes).
For antagonists, they should have motivations that cater to the player's selfishness - you want to motivate players to want to punch them in the face in a number of ways, both psychologically and physically. The "Why" of it should reflect the game mechanics. Okay, the antagonist wants control of this area, they want to undermine these factions, the fun place to start is with the player's dilemma - and revolve it around the player.
For example, KOTOR2 turning away from the Force, you meet another character who is trying to do the same, and then you up it by having it player-centric.
Siege of Dragonspear does it even better by including a brand-new hero, who's an antagonist, but arguably doing a better job than you which is a great rivalry/competition angle - no player wants to be upstaged (and that's just the first hook she uses).
- In the prequel Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, are there some story references from BG2?
- (CA): In short, they pay a lot of respect to BG1 and BG2, they make a smooth transition between the two, and they made (in my opinion) a lot of hard writing and development choices to honor that transition that other developers may have solved through short cuts, and I was impressed they didn't .

If true, this is the money quote - the weakest parts of the EEs are the result of shortcuts, not a lack of talent.

I calculate the price will be 1 Triganic Pu (or 8 Ningis for those who deal in fiddling small change).
Wow, I can actually understand most of that German paragraph. Nice to know my mostly-forgotten two years of college German didn't go completely to waste.
"Beamdog invited in some recognized English voice actors for new dialogue. So we get to hear some new lines from Jim Cummings as Minsc. Also again on hand are the voices of Dynaheir, Edwin, and Imoen. Mysteriously: In the list of speakers we also find David Warner, known as the archvillain Jon Irenicus from the second part. @BelgarathMTH I was thinking about answering.. But I couldn't resist ;-) Your translation is not too bad, buuut I have to say there is no "few" in the german text.. "einige" means some and the second sentence had nothing about any quantity. But aside from that, pretty good translation (Shameless self-plug: My translation of the paragraph should be in the last page =P)

I'm very happy if the voice actors for Imoen, Edwin/Khalid, Dynaheir and Minsc are coming back.
David Warner voicing more lines for Irenicus is completely off the rails though if that's true.
So, during the Twitch chat, they said some of new NPCs may have "romance-like things". That's it.
http://www.playerattack.com/news/2015/07/10/baldurs-gate-gets-new-expansion-siege-of-dragonspear/ says that The team explains the following: "We're also very happy to confirm that those romance options from Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will also be continued in the new expansion."
Jessica Greenlee from http://www.fangirlnation.com/ while covering the announcement of SoD, said:
"The player will find many familiar companions as well as four new faces. These include three new romance options, although continuing romances from Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition will also be an option."
