Elven Fighter/Mage, Dwarven Fighter/Cleric, Halfling Fighter/Thief and Gnome Illusionist/Cleric. We lose the awesome druid spells, but I think it looks like a rather respectable group from beginning to end. Nice possibility of proficiency spread too.
The question is: Who gets the free copies now? @Troodon80
Well... er... most people past @CrevsDaak's post noted more than one person. So, while CrevsDaak's initially said they wanted to call themselves, and the post was more of a question to booinyoureyes rather than actually calling them, I'd say @CrevsDaak and @booinyoureyes. Mostly because I don't have enough to completely cover every forumite that booinyoureyes mentioned (close, but I have some set aside...).
@CrevsDaak and @booinyoureyes, if you both want to send me a PM letting me know whether you want to Mac or Windows version, I'll send you some redeem codes. You'll need to sign up on the Beamdog site, assuming you haven't already.
Thank you, @booinyoureyes! Gotta say, after coming home from a long day at work with sore feet, I got all warm and fuzzy inside. ^_^
I'm not much of a poster, but don't think I haven't noticed how awesome you forum guys are~
@booinyoureyes For being so darn cute and fluffy. And wonderful to talk to. @Crevsdaak For being hilariously insane and sewing chaos throughout the realm. ALL HAIL THE CHAOS LORD! @KidCarnival, @Anduin, @Southpaw, @Eudaemonium, @OneAngryMushroom, @Kamigoroshi For the epic storytelling of the Cauli and the Broccoli, and other tales. (I might have eavesdropped on more than one occasion...) @LadyRhian For your wonderful picture threads! Yes, all of them! @typo_tilly For your adorable use of emoticons, and sharing with everyone the cuteness of animals. @Quartz For being you. And for being younger than me! (Mwahahaha) @nano For being a generally great poster. And your username. It reminds me of NaNoWriMo every time I see it! (Long story) @belgarathmth For also being an eloquent poster. And a man of great taste. @Flashburn For creating my santa hat, and so many others! THANK YOU! @Courtlier Whose love for Aerie and Imoen knows no bounds. @Sasayaki For being a writer (an achievement in and of itself!) and giving us a taste of Hexxat before we knew who she really was. @Dee For being a god. Enough said. @God For being THE god! @elminster For being ELMINSTER!
And I am certain I am missing plenty more... Including all of the moderators and beta testers and sooooo many more. But one can only spam the @ button for long, and I'm bad with names... >.>;;
I know a fighter/illusionist would be better, but I like my F/M with Longsword and Shield and thus have an Elven Preference. That said, she might try to ninja the Int tome to bring her up to 19 as well. We'll have to see. Maybe we need to gather other forumites and each only play 1 character. We'll figure that out soon. Do we have a multiplayer subforum to find people around here?
I started our topic, I might relent and let @booinyoureyes play a range/cleric instead of the fighter/druid but we already have so many cleric types in that group weapons are going to be interesting.
I have no one to call. As an aside, it just wouldn't be Christmas without the jolliest of all the jolly songs: The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl singing the Fairytale of New York.
Just to add, this song breaks my heart every time I hear it, in the best of ways. My favorite holiday tune, by a country mile. Oh hey, and thanks for your labor.
@Shandyr deserves lots of presents, for a start, for opening the thread! It's such a lovely idea and clinches the idea of this being a community, rather than a battleground (other forums cannot say the same of themselves). @LadyRhian for her myriad of portraits, many of which have made their way to My Pictures. I don't know where you keep finding them, but you're going above and beyond the call - it's amazing! @Mortianna for linking the relationship between the arcane language in BG2 and it's origins in Latin, which was just exceptionally interesting. I don't know how to link it to you all, but for those who haven't seen it yet you are missing out! @booinyoureyes has been such a positive member of the community, epitomising the kind of cheer and camaraderie that is brought to the game itself by Minsc and Boo!
@Troodon80 thank you a lot man, now I'll be sending you the PM thanks!
A funny thing I just realized: the date. Yeah, just saw the date, I thought it was like 17 Dec, NOT 22, oh, I think holydays affect one so much, you can't even tell the date, and, pff, you don't realize the hour unless someone says "oh, get out the forums. Man IT IS 3:38 of the morning!!!!" . Thanks everyone for being such good folks, but only for the good folks what means all the trolls and spammers (me and @booinyoureyes are funny users, not spammers) are out of it and I wish them to burn in the Abyss, but everyone else, thanks for being amazing, nice and amazingly nice. HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE (except undesired users like those I've mentioned before).
Thank you so much to everyone who gifted me with a mention. I am warmed and humbled by your affection.
I'm worried to leave some one out, because so many of you have been such dear friends, but I'll try my best.
@LadyRhian, for giving me friendship, art both fun and beautiful, music, video, and laughter, a shoulder to cry on, and someone to tell my secrets to.
@Shandyr, for giving me fascinating conversations, someone to share poetry, language, culture and music with, the chance to know "someone like me" who plays Baldur's Gate, for your courage in defending others and fighting for what's right and good, and for starting wonderful threads like this one.
@SapphireIce101, for starting the minimal reload tradition on the old Bioware boards, for moving the tradition here and carrying it on, and for giving me an interesting place and an interesting group of people to share runs with and to post screenies and roleplaying stories inspired by our runs.
@CharlestonianTemplar, for your interesting minimal reload posts in the style of military reports, and for your service to our country.
@Wanderon, for sharing minimal reload stories, and for indulging the rest of us minimal reloaders by reading our own stories.
@Son_of_Imoen, for your compassion and courage, for your friendship, and for your inspirational desire to overcome and make the world better.
@Alnair, for opening my eyes to a new way to look at the world of natural resources in food and water management, and a new way to eat and purchase food that could reduce suffering in the world for all living creatures.
@Heindrich1988, for giving me hours and hours of recordings of Baldur's Gate to watch and entertain myself with during lunch breaks, and during boring hours of the day when I can't play my own game, for giving me the pleasure of seeing Baldur's Gate again through the eyes of a new player, for your gift of "paying it forward" by helping others with hints and tips, and for the pleasure of reading your insightful and intellectually stimulating essays on many, many topics, including world politics and Chinese and British culture.
@BooinYourEyes, for being so nice, for your support, and for being my friend. And for being Boo.
@Nic_Mercy, also for giving me the chance to know "someone like me" who plays Baldur's Gate.
@JakJak, just because you like Elan as much as I do.
@Dee, for being a wise and benevolent moderator, community leader, and customer service and public relations representative, who obviously loves this community and who loves Baldur's Gate.
@God, gone from the forums but not forgotten, for giving me a chance to indulge myself in some "Conversations with God", saying what I needed to say to God.
And to all the devs of Baldur's Gate and the modders - I could never get the whole list complete - @PhillipDaigle, @CamDawg, @AndrewFoley, @LiamEsler, @TrentOster - you have given us the greatest Christmas gift ever with Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, and the gift of this community that has risen around it.
I wish to gift all of you with good health, good friends, financial success and wealth, and joy in your lives. May all your dreams come true. I wish you a warm and happy holiday, a very merry Christmas, and a wonderful New Year.
I would mention @crevsdaak, for being cool like I am, dispute trying to be chaotic evil, and I also would say thank you to @jackjack, for liking my atrocious first attempts at alternate portraits! and @syntia13 for tolerating my presence on her thread or beautiful portraits. Merry Christmas!
Thanks to this forum and his forum members for some great laughs and stories.
Calling just one person? Inconceivable! Calling @KidCarnival for being the best delusional Beholder Paladin I have ever had a chance to meet, @Anduin for his relentless fight for justice and awesome, absurd posts. Calling @CrevsDaak for his/her frivolous, funny powergaming, @booinyoureyes as the fluffiest hamster that ever learned how to type, @OneAngryMushroom as the best guitar-rocking Myconid. (So what that I have just met only one?) Calling @LadyRhian in this thread for her pictures and tongue-in-cheek sassy comments, @Flashburn, the Mad Hatter (thanks for the hat, buddy!) and @SamuelVarg as a fellow monk-lover. @LordRumfish, the Wild Wild mage-warrior-space-robot and lastly @demented for creating the "Chronic Restarting Detox Camp". (Even though it isn't working)
@Dragonspear You've given me a lot to think about as well! The last discussion inspired me to take another assassin through BGEE. I'm glad you don't shirk from my walls of text and aren't afraid to respond in kind - I guess as a paladin you always have remove fear running. I don't yet have BG2EE but I wouldn't dream of asking for anything without giving you something in return - maybe there's a game you want too?
@Nonnahswriter Your posts have caught my eye even though you don't post a lot! You have more likes than posts and I think that says something about their quality ^_^
I shall also mention some other people who are not yet on the star!
@the_spyder, @Schneidend, @Time4Tiddy, @atcDave, @RnRClown, @Ayiekie for some insightful discussions about alignment. Though we've disagreed (I can't remember about what, but it's safe to assume I've disagreed with just about everyone at some point) you defend your sides well and it's been a pleasure talking with you!
@Dragonspear, @Lord_Tansheron, @bengoshi, @Kaigen, @elminster, @GamingFreak for being gamers and number crunchers after my own heart. I know some of you are up there already but whatever! And especially to @Alesia_BH, whom I know doesn't hang out on these forums much but whose past adventures have taught me more about the game than anyone else. And @DavidW, for providing a worthy challenge in the form of SCS.
I am a mushroom of few words so I'll keep it short. This forum is by far the best one I have ever frequented. I have been in so many forums where the only thing that is said is mindless hate, insults and drivel. I have found almost none of that here, The BGEE community is the friendliest, funnest, funniest, generally most good forums I have ever been on. It is the only forum where I know multiple users and actually take what they say into consideration, I've asked stupid questions on this forum and made stupid mistakes on it to and never has anyone insulted me for it. So I'd like to call the entire BGEE community for just being a generally awesome place. Special shout out to @Anduin, @Eudaemonium ,@Southpaw, @KidCarnival, and @Kamigoroshi for making this myconid feel so welcomed during his first months on this forum
This mad hatter wants to thank several people here for having Grand Mastery in coolness. But first I want to say that this forum stands as the prime example of what a forum should be like. Even though we can lose our cool sometimes (see The Great Gay Bashing and Social Justice Warrior Convention of 2012 and 2013), this is the by far the friendliest, funniest, most helpful forum I've ever had the pleasure of signing up on. I check this forum every day and there's always someone there that makes it all worthwhile.
@Dee I want to thank you for being the supreme exemplar of how a moderator should act. I feel like you are my friend and comrade, not a mysterious higher-up that works behind the scenes. Every developer out there should hire someone as good at PR as you.
@elminster You are everywhere, always ready with a helpful tip or funny quip. Just like the real Elminster!
@booinyoureyes For being the funniest hamster I've ever known. You signed up almost a year ago but didn't participate until just a month ago, and now you're one of the most popular power players here!
@sandmanCCL I know you've been gone for almost a year now but I wish you'd come back. In your stead I've written the NPC rundown for the BG2EE NPCs. I tried to keep it consistent with your style and tone and I hope it satisfies. That was my early Christmas present to you and I will try my best to keep the Baldur's Gate section of PIH from being defaced. I use it all the time and I won't let anything bad happen to it if I can help it.
@TrentOster For making NWN so addictive that I always end up coming back to it when I feel like I'm bored of all my games. And for making the Enhanced Editions possible and bringing them to life. Truly the heart of a hero beats within your chest!
@PhillipDaigle I've never seen a developer be so helpful while being so funny at the same time. Every time I see you post I'm always laughing my head off!
@LadyRhian For showing off hundreds, maybe thousands of game-worthy portraits. I'm using many of them for my own games, though I would like to make a request: more males and less pretty-boys. And more short-folk!
@bengoshi For being one of the friendliest people here and a good friend of mine.
And everyone that wanted a santa hat: thank you for giving me a way to give back to this community. You're all wonderful people and I promise I'll be here next year to put more hats on those too Poore and/or Irishe to have one!
Shinnen Omedeto! Joyeux Noel! Fröhliche Weihnachten! Buone Feste Natalizie! Feliz Navidad! Feliz Natal! Kala Christouyenna! God Jul!
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!
I want to congratulate you all here and wish all your dreams come true! I would like to wish Merry Christmas to everyone on your native language and to celebrate it in the way your country celebrates this holiday!
@Oxford_Guy Thank you - you were the person to introduce me to this forum and to show me how should I post here!
@belgarathmth Thank you - your wisdom is so important! And I will always remember your advice about how should I give reactions to other posts in order to appreciate them!
@lunar Thank you! The number of discoveries in your posts about BG mechanics is so huge!
@elminster Thank you! NPC guides are just a little part of many important facts you have revealed about this great game!
@Eudaemonium It will be even bloodier than you hoped! Seriously, your intelligence is unprecedented!
I started our topic, I might relent and let @booinyoureyes play a range/cleric instead of the fighter/druid but we already have so many cleric types in that group weapons are going to be interesting.
@DragonSpear I'd love to try multiplayer! I tried it once like 8 years ago with my best friend but it took us forever to realize it was impossible I'd be very interested, but I have to return to school in January for some major testing so I won't be free until February. I'd love to play then if we can organize it! But warning: I'm really not very good at the game, even though I enjoy it immensely. Maybe I'll learn a lot by then!
