What people seem to miss is that the NwN games, with the exception of MotB, never tried to focus on their campaigns too much.
They are the Minecraft of RPGs. The main campaigns are not as important as the ability to make your own adventures and worlds with a toolset and play online on roleplaying servers.
I agree, and feel that, in this aim, NwN surpassed it's sequel. Yes, NwN2's camera was worse, but more importantly, the toolset lacked the usability and accessibility of it's predecessor. This made creating modules much more difficult, killing a lot of potentially great ideas on the ground floor, in my estimation.
I think I can speak for most people (or at least some people) when I say the first time you get Fireball you abuse it big time. I would load up on the wands and just spam fireballs everywhere. What's so stupid about this it it took me an EMBARRASSINGLY long time before I took the necessary precautions and learned to cast protection from fire on my tank. So I had a lot of reloads and went through a lot of healing potions before I ever thought to do that.
Killing Drizzt with cheese in BG1, with my good-alignment party. Then meeting him up again in BG2, and Drizzt is all like : "Do I know you?" Then I need to explain why I killed him, that I've changed, blablabla, etc. and then enlist him to kill Bodhi. Awkward.
Not realizing until @ my 5th playthrough of Chapters 1-3 that there was an icon which would automatically get the whole party to attack a designated target... OMG, THAT is just tooo easy!! But it also helped me get over a SERIOUS frustration about dealing with Xvarts, Kobold, Gibberlings, etc. Ouch!
Installing the Undead Solaufein component of the Solaufein mod. My God I regretted that moment of madness
If you mean the stuff with Bodhi then GOD YES. I remember being unable to touch him because of PFMW, being unable to Breach him because of Improved Invisibility, and Viconia's True Seeing not working just because. I think I won by letting Drizzt take some hits from him (the guy rips through Bodhi like it's nothing, but Undead Soulaufein is way too much for him) and then using the Slayer, and I still don't understand why that worked. I'm much more skilled now than I was back then and could probably handle it, but God was it annoying.

That's the one. I had to run upstairs and rest about 5 times until his effects wore off. Cowardly but I got very tired of reloading after the tenth time.
Always, every single play thru the last 15 years I save my wands, potions and protection scrolls for that special time in the future where I might need them. This ofcourse leads to countless reloads and impossibility to play no reload play throus...but man do I have a lot of stuff when the game ends
I've always played a lot of Baldur's Gate multiplayer by myself. When you create a multiplayer game, you can make a session password. The screen says, "the session password is optional." So a long time ago, as you would expect, I used to put "optional" as the session password.

Tried to slay the Shadow Dragon with my level 8-ish party on my very first chapter 2 quest.. Sure, better players than I can pull it off, with or without some cheese, but this was one of my very first playthroughs way back when. And yeah, I saved and reloaded. And instead of sneaking by like you're supposed to or even really altering strategies, just kept trying the same thing hoping for a whole lot of better dice rolls.
I used to suffer from potion, scroll, arrow, bolt and wand saving. But now I just blow the lot, when I get it, as I get it. Makes for a very different game.
...
Saying that. I still end up with tons of wand of fears and potions of master thievery.

For example the creator of the BG remake, said that he tried to remake Candlekeep but gave up because the toolset is very limited.
So basically it's like:
NwN1 toolset: Easy but not powerful
NwN2 toolset: Very complex and much more powerful
And I heard that the Dragon Age toolset is even more difficult to work with than the NwN2 one.

I've come a long way.
I often think...
Minsc can take it...
Yeah! Minsc can take this for the team. Airie will patch him up fine afterwards!
*Hurls fireball*
Wha- Oooh, misjudged that AoE, a bit... Aaah nuts.
*Airie dies*
*Minsc screams Noo-*
*Minsc dies*
No worries I will reload... Oh no... Awww... Two hours ago?!?

"What are those green things attacking the commoners?"

Maybe use them to chase off Flaming Fist?
