The sanity of the developers under question

its 2015 now and for those of you who think patch 1.3 was any good think again
I dont care if the patch addressed a million bugs and issues, the fact is it hasnt addressed all the important ones (except pathing)
Iam talking about:
We still all play the inventory game, and without dungeon-be-gone mod we'd still be wasting our time on that despicable dungeon as well as being forced to watch the tens of "commercial breaks" any time we hit the rest button

The devs specifically said they weren't going to mess with the existing content, many people enjoy inventory management, the start dungeon and I assume by "commercial breaks" you mean the dreams with Irenicus. Forcing players to play without those sections of the game is like removing the flake from all 99 flakes because one person doesn't like them. Furthermore removing sections of the game is probably in violation of their agreement with Bioware.
Interesting that improved pathfinding gets a throwaway mention here. Next to the graphics not being improved pathfinding was probably one of the more frequent criticisms levied at BGEE and BG2EE by reviewers.
The inventory is what it is. They've already improved the game over the original BG2 by doubling the amount of ammo you can have in each stack, letting you stack vampire stakes, and by letting you see what spells you have memorized (through the green background for scrolls). Changes to the UI from the sounds of things are also fairly complex.
Other than the portal key there is nothing in that dungeon that is an absolute necessity. I don't really view it as being that big of an issue and as you pointed out there is already a mod to address it.
Skipping cutscenes would be a nice feature but there are only a few of them and the time they take is nothing compared to how much time you take even just moving around/between areas in the game.
I still don't see how the exclusion of any of these things makes this not a good patch.
Seeing as I and many others have beaten this game, how about the devs just remove Irenicus? I can totally beat him, so yeah, I waste how many hours getting to this chump mage, so he can drag me through hell and back?! Ef that! Just skip Irenicus.
Actually, ToB was pretty unsatisfying as a conclusion, just make that skip too. We can all totally beat it, so it should be removed from the game!
Clearly the devs should have coded a feature that knows my playing style, and picks up all the things I would, and sells off automatically the ones I don't want to the best store, and that gold should clearly auto-buy things I would have bought anyways, thus saving my incredibly precious and valuable time.
In fact, why don't we just make the game start us with all the gear, and let us throw away what we won't need? I mean, I would have found it anyways, I know where it is ffs. Ever hear of ergonomics!?
"A man who goes into a restaurant and blatantly disrespects the servers shows a strong discontent with his own being. Deep down he knows that restaurant service is the closest thing he will ever experience to being served like a king."
I think this quote is very much in place here. "The inventory game", as the OP calls it, to me, is basically one of the cornerstones of BG: it's one of the base things that make BG as it is - the game we all like. Without inventory management I won't get the same feeling while I play BG. To me, it's simply as that.
I can't even understand the reasons to call Chateau Irenicus a "despicable dungeon". All the phrases David Warner says there have become literally legends among rpg fans. I still remember my first run through this dungeon. Entering the mistress's room was so exciting. Meeting Yoshimo for the first time. Realising Jaheira's pain. These are things I, being a fan of BG, would never like to get rid of.
I can understand that some people would like to skip the dungeon but there's already a mod for this, so there's absolutely no need to cut the original content in the enhanced version of the game.
The sanity of the developers here is not under question at all.
As for the dream scenes you can just mash Enter and 1 a dozen times and they're out of your hair too. I haven't timed those, but I feel confident they take less than 3 minutes of time if you rush through them that way. Is your time too precious for that? Mine isn't at least.
Just...
...thank you.
Personally, I like the holdalls, but tend to avoid the loot bar unless trying to retrieve loot from an awkward place to click.
As far as something like the new loot button, I think it is a great option to have for those who like such things. As long as it is optional. The more options the better, as it helps make the game enjoyable for more people.
My one comment about the quick loot feature; I never use it on the PC, I find it more immersive to do the leg work with a chosen character.
But I often use it on my iPad. Exact locations can be a little more fussy. So both the Quick Loot, and the highlight feature (to find the exact sweet spot for certain doorways and other objects) are very useful.
I remember in my early games carefully scanning every screen, looking for hidden look. The ultimate prize was certainly a certain ring found below the Friendly Arms Inn. There are quite a few of these hidden caches lurking around the game, that are not obviously containers or doors. It would be (for me) much more satisfying to have to search for them old-school style, especially given the power of the rewards they often yield.
I still feel a guilty shame every time a raid a field outside Nashkel for the one cache I never found for myself. The lure is too much to let it lie, but it feels like something given away cheaply, rather than something I earned.
(I also know this would be mostly unacceptable to a significant majority of the customer base, but I can dream...)
