@Tresset Eh, if you played a lot of Battle Spot (or otherwise online battling) then that might make more sense. Basically if you played against randoms you'd get opponents using at least one of those two about 80% of the time. I have nothing against Greninja as a Mon (though I'm a Chesnaught fan all the way) it just became a nuisance. Mega-Khan is just one of my least favorite Megas so seeing it so much really annoyed me.
So far I'm enjoying all most of the new additions.
I did battle occasionally, but not in battle spot. I prefer to battle "casual competitively" as I call it. I just want to have fun in battles with minimal rules, and the idea of recording wins and losses did not appeal to me. I also like to use the occasional legendary. What good are legendaries if they just sit in my box collecting dust? I want to be able to USE them against people every once in a while, though I usually limit the number of them on my team...
I also am not fond of Smogon. Too many rules. Too much of it is ruled by fads and popularity as well. I don't need it either, I can think up strategies for myself.
Sadly, all this leaves few opportunities to have a battle I can actually enjoy... I like fighting friends and family the most, but they rarely want to battle with me...
Hmm... Perhaps some of the people here would make worthy opponents... If anyone is interested in doing Pokemon stuff with me, feel free to send me a PM!
EGAD!!! I have gotten to the point in Moon where I have met the criminal Team (you know there had to be one...) for the first time. They are...
So horrible a stereotype of hispanic gangsters that they make SoD's Entar Silvershield look 100% genuine French. Rather horrifying actually... I can't say I like what I have seen of this Team so far...
@Tresset well, we got yakuza/mafai stereotyes, Ecoterrorist stereotypes, etc. If the evil team weren't a giant stereotype, I might be afraid we were supposed to take them seriously his time.
@ThacoBell That may be true I suppose, but even I think they overdid it a bit this time. I will admit though that, once I got over the initial shock, I find the team quite funny this time.
Oh dear. I was curious and looked things up and apparently the game is a bit glitched and doesn't give certain moves when it should. Looks like my poor Kadabra is stuck with being unable to attack until level 21 for Psybeam...
Strange... I haven't run into that problem yet... Could you give us some more details on this glitch @Artemius_I? Also, if you are interested, we could get each others' friend codes. I tend to give people stuff a lot... Maybe I could even breed an Abra for you!
By the way... Has anyone figured out how time works in the game? It no longer seems tied into the 3DS clock... at least not in a way that makes sense...
Edit: Ah... I figured it out. It is tied to the 3DS clock, but while Sun version uses the time on your clock, Moon version offsets the game time by 12 hours. Kinda neat actually.
It's all good. I've now got an Alakazam with Psybeam and Round. I was lucky enough to catch a jolly Rufflet on Route 3 which is really doing work.
But as someone who tries to catch one of every mon I find my god is that call for help thing annoying. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs to be slapped in the face.
@Artemius_I Yeah, the call for help makes things hard to catch, but makes grinding a little easier (sometimes). By the way, there are some pokemon that will only appear in the wild if they appear after another pokemon calls for help. That must make things even worse for you...
So, what is your team so far? I have already changed my team around so much it is hard to remember stuff I used off of the top of my head... I think I have finally settled on one team now though...
Currently I have: Dartrix, Snorlax, Diglett, Vulpix, Salandit, and Pikachu.
Like tresset getting some exploited thing for nothing.
Well, I have my own dittos in the older games, and they all took a lot of effort to get. Getting this one just allows me to start breeding earlier is all. I don't have to wait for the transfer update in January. I also gave up a water type starter for it, which isn't exactly nothing. I was also extremely lucky to get such a valuable pokemon from the Wonder Trade. 90% of what comes out of that thing is garbage. 8.9% is decent. 0.1% is something really fabulous like the ditto I got. I usually try to put decent stuff in Wonder Trade; things people may actually want. Usually this means my breeding rejects or hidden ability pokemon.
As for anonymous trading; not everyone has friends who play pokemon. That can be quite the luxury, especially outside Japan and the US. It helps to at least be able to trade with SOMEONE, even if it is a random person.
Not far into the game yet but so far I'm using Torracat, Alakazam, Rufflet, Rockruff and Crabrawler, though I may switch the latter two for something more interesting. Unfortunately I just remembered that Rufflet evolves at an insanely high level 54 so it'll be a long time before I get that Braviary...
@Yamcha I'm lucky enough to have another 3DS for self trading but there's a GTS exploit you can use so long as you have two game cartridges.
1) Offer a random mon you don't care about on the GTS for a Kadabra, or whatever have you 2) Use your other game to accept the trade to 'yourself', the Kadabra will evolve 3) Repeat step one asking for an Alakazam instead
The Wonder Trade is very random and the chances of you getting sornething extremely rare is... well, rare. I've done at least 500 trades on my Gen 6 games alone and while I've gotten some mad luck by getting stuff like Arceus, Darkrai and other random legendaries most of what you get are someone's breeding rejects which are, admittedly, quite useful in their own way. It does make completing the Pokedex a lot easier though.
Edit: oh and about the calling for help thing: let me tell y'all the story of the Metapod that ate 10 of my pokeballs and summoned about five Caterpies in its lifespan while hanging on by a thread and Hardening all the while. A Metapod!
@FinneousPJ math does not come easy when you are very tired from playing pokemon all night...
But speaking of 1%... There is a certain patch of grass that you can encounter a bagon in 1% of the time. This bagon will then call a salamence another 1% of the time... Because this is a very early part of the game, both the bagon and the salamence that will probably never appear for you are around level 10-15. A very interesting pokemon to have on your team... I imagine an adrenaline orb would help make the salamence appear, should you encounter the rare bagon...

I just pulled a 6iv shiny ditto with the pokerus out of wondertrade... It will serve me well I think
At least learned Kinesis when it evolved though, woo, yay...

You using the global trade system, or do it with friends (assuming that it still evolves on trade)
I find the anonymous online trading stuff makes the whole goal of the game moot. Like tresset getting some exploited thing for nothing.
