well you would think it would be alright because isn't it based off of speed? so the faster you are compared to the dude yer battling against shouldn't it deal more damage? I don't remember, I know it has something to do with speed, plus me and my buds are pretty casual at gaming especially the dude I battled against, he has no idea what Evs or Ivs are so yeah
Gyro Ball is a physical Steel-type move with power that increases the slower you are compared to your opponent, and IIRC it has a potential minimum base power of 1 if you're faster than the target. Electrode also has about as much Attack as a Caterpie, and Steel also resists itself so altogether it's literally going to do about 1 damage to a Metagross.
Gamefreak loves to troll around with giving inappropriate moves and abilities to Pokemon. Other shining examples of trolling include:
Final Gambit Shedinja (Final Gambit deals damage equal to the user's HP, Shedinja only ever has 1 HP)
Insomnia + Vital Spirit Delibird (they are literally the same ability)
Truant Durant (no one, I repeat no one ever wants Truant as an ability)
So, the theme for this generation could be summed up in just about 2 words: "Slow" and "Nerf".
Almost all the new pokemon in this generation are slow as heck. There are, of course, a few exceptions, but very few of the new ones have a base speed above 60.
They also nerfed a TON of things from pokemon to abilities to moves... It is very disheartening.
I wish I could get back into the pokemon games, but I unfortunately get bored of them way to quickly now, I still like emerald the best, so every once in year or so I will play that for a bit, ah growin up, it kind of sucks
I lean more towards water type starters myself, unless I don't like the design. Poplio didn't look all that good to me, so I went with Litten instead this gen.
Decidueye was a massive disappointment for me... but Incineroar makes up for its kinda wonky look with epic animations and Primarina is bae. Then again, I might've been spoiled for grass-types by Smuglord Serperior and Chesnaught.
So I'm still on the first island (moving very slowly) but is anyone else getting the impression that the new evil team is the most useless one we have seen?
@ThacoBell For now I'm on the second island, and so far we've seen only the lowest of the grunts, which is very little of a sample. But I agree that they seem most useless and non-threatening. For the plus, even in-universe characters feel the same about them, which is hilarious.
Alolapix's shiny sprite is Garchomp-tier. I didn't even notice it was shiny until I was taking them out of the springs. At least it came out with its HA...
Looks like they released a patch for the games. It fixes the bug that Artemius_I mentioned with Abra not learning Confusion when it evolves, among other issues.
About halfway through the second island and I'm pretty impressed with a lot of the quality of life changes that are implemented. Also, that first trial on the second island threw me for a surprise loop. I hadn't lost an AI fight that badly since second gen.
I recently caught a shiny sandshrew while I was looking for one with its hidden ability. This will be the third shiny I have encountered so far in my game. The other two were a magnemite (which I mentioned earlier) and a gastrodon.

Its bad because voltorb is one of the fastest pokemon. The slower the better. And its especially usefull against fast opponents

As I'm waiting for my Pokemon Sun to be delivered, I've decieded for a Litten as a starter. Here's why:

I've played little too much of this game yesterday, but I couldn't help myself...
@Artemius_I
Good luck with Vulpix

Edit: Shiny Alolatales is much better:
Really digging the purple fur and reddish eyes.
Congrats. And I agree, cool moveset.
