Why are you asking that borish oaf what you should do? Let Torm’s wisdom guide your decision.

OOC: power is knocked out here.

Alora listens to the voice in her head and wonders if it is coming from Torm. The voice in her head is saying "Take the necklace. What's the worst that could happen?"

It’s really just Tiax whispering into her ear.

Aerie sighed. Standing aside from everyone, she quietly cast Sanctuary upon herself. Once encased within the shimmering cocoon of aura, she strode up to the pedestal and reached for the necklace.

Alora stares open-mouthed. She wasn't expecting that.

"I don't think that was a very good idea," she whispers in a worried voice. "You were supposed to talk me out of it."

Aerie hears insane laughter in her head as she touches the pendant. It seems to be coming... from the pendant itself?

Aerie feels a surge of insanity run through her at the touch of the pendant. Thankfully, she is able to beat it down with mental fortitude, but the pendant seems to feel unsavory in her hands. She feels like she wants to drop it and have nothing to do with it ever again.

OOC Would a wave of insanity make any difference if it hits Alora? Food for thought :)
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Of the kind this would be?... Yes, it would. This isn't a "roll on the random insanity table".

    Just waiting on @Nonnahswriter

Aerie immediately tries to put the necklace back and relay what she experienced to everyone else.

Alora is disappointed that they have to leave something shiny behind but even she isn't going to risk madness to get it.

If they have tried all the doors in this part of the castle she will go back to the corridor and head the way they didn't try last time (OOC: North I think?)

Okay. Well, the room with the towels and dolphin soaps had another door to the east. But something has changed. You hear a rattling noise coming from the cabinet.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
"There is something in there that wasn't in there before!"

Alora cautiously approaches the cabinet. If possible she will tie a rope around the handle so she can pull the door or drawer open from a distance. If this is not possible she will wait until the party are around her with weapons drawn before opening the cabinet.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Well, not a drawer, exactly. There is a stack of mint-green towels on one side, and the pink dolphin soaps on the other.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Speaking of which... if Tiax had picked up the amulet, would anyone have noticed? ;)
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
"I think the cabinet is angry because I took the soap and that is why it is rattling."

Alora, not wishing to annoy the furniture, replaces the dolphin soap where she found it.

As her hand nears the cabinet, she hears a distinct hiss.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Alora hurriedly retreats. "Snake! There's a snake in the cabinet!"

She stands well back and readies her sling. "This is a job for your brave fighter types. And don't worry, if it is poisonous and you get bitten we will try to think of a way to save you."
  • deltagodeltago Member Posts: 7,811
    Quiet girl!
It's trapped in there. We should just leave it alone.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
"We can't just leave a snake in the towel chest. Someone might come in wanting to take a bath and get bitten by it."

Alora gives Anomen one of her hardest stares. "I suppose I will have to do it myself."

Alora cautiously approaches the cabinet trying to work out exactly where the snake is lurking.
  • deltagodeltago Member Posts: 7,811
I don't think anyone would come here to take a bath after someone stole both the soap and the magical rocks that changed the water's temperature.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
"There is plenty of soap. And I didn't steal the rocks I just borrowed them in case they were useful. And someone might not know that the rocks weren't there before they went to get a towel and then they would get bitten before they found out so it wouldn't matter anyway."
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
She can't see the snake near the soap. Maybe somewhere in the towels?
  • lolienlolien Member, Moderator, Translator (NDA) Posts: 3,108
Arkanis walks to the cabinet and helps the hissing something in revealing itself by kicking the container to it's side.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
If Arkanis's kick hasn't caused the snake to emerge Alora will use the end of her short sword to flick the top towel off the pile. She will continue down the pile until she sees the hissing snake.

The containers overturns, spilling soaps, towels and bits of wood everywhere. In the midst of the towels is a 3' long grayish-white snake. But what also clatters to the floor is a golden key.

That snake does *not* appear happy at the way it was ejected from the cabinet. It makes an angry hiss, rising up on itself to face the party.

Snake goes first. It goes for the closest target... Arkanis.

Ouch! The snake spits a long stream of poison straight into Arkanis's eyes!

Arkanis is blinded by the snake's venom!

Arrrgh! My eyes! Arkanis waves blindly with his weapon and tries to chop the hideous snake.
