"Tiax rules!" Tax exults as he smashes the man's head open like a rotten fruit. "Ya little monkey-spanker!"
The man and the wolf lie dead. The man wears a suit of Plate Mail with the uniform of a Castle Guardsman over it. At his belt is a dagger in a sheath.
Inside the 20' by 20' room, a small bed of fresh straw lies in the northwestern corner of the room. A wooden plate, a pair of eating knives, and a bronze wine goblet rest on a table in the middle of the room. Under the table is a wooden bowl filled with raw meat. Several old tapestries are hung on the walls and bits of fur and other types of floor coverings form a makeshift carpet. A lit lantern hangs over the table.
Alora will search the body of the madman, checking the dagger to see if it looks valuable. "Does anyone want to try on this plate armour to see if it fits?" she asks dubiously. The idea of putting on a dead man's armour seems very unappealing.
After that she will search the room, looking for secret doors behind the tapestries.
Okay. The dagger is quite nice. Nicely balanced for throwing. Behind one of the tapestries to the south is a hole in the wall. It seems to go right through, though Alora is not tall enough to see through it herself.
When she pushes the bed aside to look behind the tapestries there, she notices a floor stone that isn't quite the same color as the surrounding stones. A little feeling around allows her to slide the stone aside, revealing that the area conceals a small wooden case.
There are no traps she can find, and there is no lock on the case. The Sight of the contents bring a smile to Alora's face. 2 beautiful blue sapphires (worth about 300p each), a huge emerald (worth 2000gp) and a gold ring with the initials "DB" on the inside (worth about 50 gp).
"Whoa!" Alora's eyes light up. "I'd better keep these safe so we can try to find their rightful owner" she says as hurriedly slips the case inside her jerkin before Anomen can start pontificating.
She then takes a chair (if there is one, if not she will drag the table) over to the hole in the wall so she can clamber up and see through the gap.
