Everyone feels a little out of it, disconnected from reality a bit. Your skin is slightly itchy and you are hurting, obviously. (Everyone is It was like a shower of hailstones). Only Alora, Anomen and Minsc failed their saves vs. disease, so Jan must just be having… sympathy pains.
"I'm afraid I lack the skills necessary to cure their illness myself... Or else, I would." Aerie's brow furrowed hard, then she picked up a uniduck, stroking its feathers gently. "Perhaps these little ones could help them? Or else, we'll have to return to the surface and speak with the clerics in the castle. Though, when I visited, their prices were...atrocious..."
"We should go back to the temple immediatley, while you can move. We can think about prices after that." Arkanis suggests to carry the diseased ones, if the party can move more swiftly that way.
OOC: 20,000 gp? *whistles with amusement* Maybe they accept my dotted helm...
Aerie decided that while most of their best fighters were incapacitated, or otherwise carrying the incapacitated, she would be the one to take the lead. With a few words under her breath, she cast Sanctuary upon herself, just in case they were to run into any surprises as they wandered back the way they came.
Jan stands up feeling somewhat refreshed. The stench of the gas reminded him of a relative, he didn't see in a long time and this memory, combined with the unpleasent smell, made him want to take a nap. For a moment.
OOC: so we don't just need a cure disease, but we need a restoration spell? Cure disease would not cut it?
OOC: so we don't just need a cure disease, but we need a restoration spell? Cure disease would not cut it?
OOC: restoration would cost 80,000-100,000 but we need only a cheap 20,000 cure disease. What do you think a mini-unicorn horn costs on the black market?
"We could take them the crystal ball from the ceiling of the office, or the boulder than floats like a balloon, or we could ask if they would like a couple of minitaurs, or we could see if there is anything in the aquariums. Or I've got chocolate cake. Only it's a bit soggy." It is hard to tell whether Alora is delirious or these are real suggestions.
Whoa! No! Restoration is not needed. Aerie was offered one to regrow her wings at the Temple. That was what cost 20,000 gp. Cure disease only runs 1000 or so. And these clerics are competing with each other, so you can almost certainly find it for cheaper. Or yes, you could loot the complex and sell things. Or talk to the shopkeeper at the herb shop.
OOC: we could sell someone into slavery for x years, that would be profitable. Minsc is such a big, powerful worker! All he needs is hamster food and a good shelter, etc. He must be worth a lot as a slave!
On an honest note, these prices are nothing like in the BG games... I don't like them being so high, how would one store 100.000 GP? I'd understand if prices in BG would be higher than in PnP, PnP being the more realistic experience, but the other way around? The logistics of a society that has gold in such abundance, that prices can grow as high as 20.000 GP or even 100.000 GP must be a nightmare. They would have invented paper money long ago...
@cyberhawk You have to remember, Restoration is a 7th level spell and requires a 14th level cleric (or better) to cast. Most High priest(s) and/or priestess(es) are only going to be 11th or 12th level, even in major cities. So it's hard to find people to cast the spell and it's a high level spell so… yeah, price is commensurate with rarity. And that's if the priest is even willing to cast it on you (resurrection is equally costly). Raise Dead is only 5th level. More likely to be had, and in the original game (1e), it cost you a point of con to be resurrected, permanently!
Cure disease is yes, only a 3rd level spell. Much easier to find, therefore, costs less. In any event, you may need to pay an additional price (a service to be performed) to get the spell. I have many ideas… (cue other adventures to raise your level…)
Keep in mind, though, that you also have to convince the priest in question to cast the spell on you. If you worship a deity inimical to their own they are perfectly within their rights to tell you to "Hit the road, Jack…" And/or may charge you more for the privilege.
OOC: restoration does not require a 14th level cleric to cast, it requires any cleric with a restoration scroll. It requires a 14th level cleric to do it without the scroll, just by praying to his deity... Whatever, I hope everyone can make it this time.
OOC: @LadyRhian I don't mind it being expensive, just the sheer amount of coins seems stupid. An object doesn't have to cost tens of thousands of coins to be financially out of reach... That's more of a general complaint about the D&D setting, if the prices are actually defined in the rule books or adventure sets or something.
@cyberhawk Not so many coins. Faerun has learned the moneylender's trick of the "Letter of Credit" and there are things like Trade Bars that are worth multiple coins at once that merchants use when traveling so as not to be burdened down with tons of money. Many merchants belong to Trading Costers that act as moneylenders for the merchants that are a part of them (and perhaps noble families as well) scattered throughout Faerun. Amn has a great number, since it is a Kingdom which runs on trade, for instance.
Okay. You all troop back through the dungeon to the Citadel Union. Once again, you step into the madness of the priests competing for attention (and donations). The Priestess of Silvanus offers to heal all three of you for a mere 500 gp. She even offers to tell you of a place where you could possibly make the money to pay her, in return for a special item within. She will cure the disease in advance of payment, and wait another day for you to finish finding Culum's father before setting you out to find her item.
Thanks a lot! By curing this highly contagious disease, you have truly saved a lot of people inside this castle! Did you know that the dungeons below are filled with exploding monsters and bloodthirsty sharks? It is only a question of time until they come out and infest everyone, or worse! Would you care to come with us on a short mission of clearing out the dungeon below?

OOC: dont forget the fungi Jaheria collected. Selling them in the market can yield payment or at least xp.

Secretly she is very worried. She can't remember ever setting foot in a church. Except to steal stuff . . .

@minevese Not so much. But you'll see...
"We need to hurry," cries the hyper-ventilating halfling, "I'm turning into a balloon."
Alora, who is in danger of having a full on panic attack, sets off for the temple.
