OOC: Eww! My thinking is that this thing is big enough to be a momma spider so there may very well be sneaky smaller spiders just waiting to drop on some unfortunate soul and begin biting off their hair.

We'd better hope this is the momma spider because if this turns out to be the daddy the momma's going to be the size of a house.
"Fall creature," Jaheia ordered, while a swinging her club to accentuate her point. "Feed the earth." She was prepared to use curing magic on the Halfling, but thought it best to first slay the threat.
Jaheira hits the Spider another glancing blow. (1 hp :P)
Next round, Spider wins initiative And goes after (rolls a d8)… Anomen. And it's a hit. Anomen gets bitten for 5 damage. And… fails his poison save. Anomen is wracked by nausea and begins to vomit (aka Casting up his accounts, as they used to say…) He just feels sicker and sicker with every retch. He finds himself dropping everything in his hands as he is noisily, busily, messily sick.
But the rest of the party gets to answer this attack. Arkanis strikes out and hits… another glancing blow (5 counting his strength bonus). Ajantis slips in the copious amounts of vomit on the floor and misses completely. Jaheira also loses her footing and slides into the side of the cavern with her face first, seeing stars. (Gotta love those critical fumbles!). Minsc cries out in rage and chops the Spider with his sword, splitting it in half at the abdomen.
Battle is over, but with the goop from the inside of the spider now all over them, Alora and Anomen retch even harder. Once her stomach is completely empty, Alora finds herself panting, her stomach still heaving, but starting to settle. Anomen, on the other hand, is worse off. Even though he's empty and dry inside, he continues to heave and heave and heave. He feels like his stomach is turning inside out, and he begins vomiting yellow bile. He's MUCh worse off than Alora, having received a larger dose of venom (and been poisoned, to boot. Alora made her save. He… didn't.)
DM sez: There used to be all kinds of poisons in D&D. You have your sleep poison that Drow use on their weapons to take captives. There are poisons that do straight up damage, like 10, 20 or 40 points, save for half. Then there are poisons that just outright kill you, but do nothing if you make your save. And then there are the "Make you wish you'd never been born for a while" poisons. This is one of those types. It's meant to incapacitate the victim. If you are desperately vomiting, you aren't able to defend yourself.
In this case, the spider incapacitates its victims, lays eggs in you, wraps you up and lets the babies eat their way out of you with you alive and uable to move. Spiders do actually do this in real life. (and :P, yeah it's horrendous. Nature is like that sometimes.)
*clutching is stomach and rolling over in pain, he attempts to drink from his canteen to lessen the acidic sting in his mouth*
Frick - Blahhhack - thing.
*goes into the fetal position rocking slightly*
OOC: That is one dumb spider. Not only did it go after the one thing that did not attack it. It went after the thing in the back ignoring all other threats around it. No wonder it is dead. Stupid thing.

Anomen is unable to keep anything down at this point. The minutes he tries to drink anything, it comes right back up. And when he retches, there's a chance liquid is going to go down the wrong pipe.
Once Ajantis is able to stand he turns toward Aerie and Jaheira, "Are you familiar with this sort of poison? Are Alora and Anomen in any danger? Is there anything we can do for them?"
Looking down at himself and the filth all over his clothes and equipment he remarks, "This pool we're looking for, is it safe to bathe in it?"
OOC: From someone who recovered from alcohol poisoning on more than one occasion and has actually puked up vile, you can get a sense of your convulsions to know when it is safe to drink. And drink water you should as it dilutes the stomach acid and gives your body something to retch up (dry heaving is painful) as well as an attempt to keep you hydrated. The act of retching also blocks off your glottis to prevent choking or the substance from going into your lungs. Choking can come after a person retches when the contents are not expelled from the mouth and slide back down the throat, hence why you should always roll a passed out drunk on their side. With that:
*Anomen takes baby sips of water while he rocks. Sometimes just to wash his mouth out, sometimes to get something in his stomach, but it all comes back up in seconds*
"Perhaps we should retreat to the level above and rest after this encounter? I doubt any of us would want to rest in this place," Ajantis says, eyeing the spider ichor and stomach contents smeared across the floor.
"By the way, Minsc, that was a solid hit with your sword. I shudder to think of what might have happened if you hadn't ended that vile creature's life so definitively. And thanks to the rest of you as well. I'm afraid I wasn't of much use in this battle."
Ajantis smiles mischievously, "And Aerie, I'm very glad to see your aim with that sling has improved."
Aerie used her Sleep spell, and now a CLW. But the party hasn't rested since. And Jaheira doesn't have a Slow Poison spell… it's too high a level. She can't cast it yet.
Arkanis finds mostly assorted trash and other bones in the web. It appears the Spider has been feeding well. The leg bone, though, the one Alora found, catches his eye. He realizes that the ends are caps, meant to unscrew. When he does, he can see a single piece of rolled up vellum within.
Alora combs the vomit out of her hair with her fingers and reflects that it is always good to have someone to hold your hair while you are being sick but that this is not always possible when you are fighting giant spiders.
"What do you want to do? Shall we keep exploring or do you want to go back upstairs to rest? I think we should keep going. We must be near to the pool by now and I want to have a wash."
Neera imagines Alora bathing herself in super magical pool water. "I don't think we are supposed to bathe in magic infused water. Unless, is this just super magical bathwater we're collecting?"
OOC: So, are we still down the well, or did we come back up at some point when Alora "retraced her steps"? Because if so, I don't see how we're going to climb the upper levels to rest until Anomen stops retching.
Unless there's a new set of stairs we went down somewhere, Aerie will say we should rest back at the abandoned campsite.
Arkanis can't make out what's on the parchment. It hurts his head to even try.
And you are still down the well on the second level. You're sort of in the middle of a corridor right now. Also, your fight has attracted attention. A spider about half the size of the one you just fought has appeared out of the webbed room and is heading your way...

@LadyRhian If I took 6 damage I'm unconscious aren't I?
Arkanis investigates the place, from where the giant spider came, searching carefully for anything interesting, or for more spiders.
OOC: She says that, but I can't remember if Aerie got her spells back or not... >_>;;

Arkanis unfold the vellum, if it's in good shape enough. He tries to avoid any poosible magical threat as best as he can.
