Okay… Party wins initiative. Aerie misses. Alora scores a skidding hit on the jelly with her sling stone (1 point damage. Her second bullet misses. Anomen drives his spear deep into the thing (Max damage! Yay!) . Arkanis misses. Jaheira's blow mostly glances off. Minsc misses. Neera cheers the others on. Ajantis hits for 3.
The jelly reacts with amazing quickness, extruding a pseudopod and slapping the creature that hurt it worst last turn… Anomen. Anomen feels the stuff seeping into the gaps in his armor and its touch burns like fire… for 9 damage! (OW!)
2nd round, Ochre Jelly Wins again. It slaps at Arkanis this time. For Max (13!) points damage. Arkanis is floored by the pain, reduced to a single hit point with one swipe. His entire body burns and his skin turns an angry red color, beard and hair seared away by the strike.
Aerie steps in and smacks the creature with her staff. It hurts it, but not very much. Alora misses. Anomen, nearly blinded by the pain, misses. Arkanis, though more deeply hurt, manages to make the strike and connect, but not deeply. Jaheira strikes again, though its still more of a glancing blow (for 2). Minsc, enraged by the creature and its seeming inability to die. Hits with a 20! And does max damage, chopping the ameboid jelly in half, which dies with a blorping noise.
Now that combat is over, you can take stock. Anomen and Arkanis look, not so much like they have been burned in a fire, but by acid. Anomen's burns look lacy, like the spaces in his chain mail, while Arkanis is more deeply, badly affected. His chain mail also looks worn, but very, very shiny where he was struck, as if some of the links lost metal. Anomen's tunic is also reduced to tatters of cloth by the jelly.
Alora is upset by the sight of the burns on Arkanis and Anomen but to hide the fact she pretends to want to do something useful: "You guys are going to need some new armour. I'll go and look for some."
While the healers are attending to the wounded heroes Alora thoroughly searches the museum. She knows she should be looking for armour and clothing but she is going to check out the barbarian sword to see if it looks special.
Lady Aerie, may I please suggest that you do not get too close to the combat, if anything were to happen to you this party would be at a loss.
"I could not just stand idly by and watch my friends endanger their lives," Aerie argued, even when some deep part of herself knew that he was right. She just wasn't as strong of a fighter as the others. It frustrated her to no end, hiding behind their armored bodies like a flower to be crushed.
Since Anomen still had the wits and strength to speak, Aerie decided it best to heal Arkanis first. When she did return to Anomen's side, however, she pointedly kept her gaze focused on the floor. Normally shirtless men didn't bother her so much, after having seen plenty of them between performances in the circus. But then again, most of her fellow performers were not as...fit as Anomen.
Alora notices Aerie blushing and hurries over to cause trouble. She holds her her palms up close to Aerie's cheeks and pretends they are getting hot. "Toastie on Aerie! Toastie on Aerie! Oooh, my hands are burning!"
*After Aerie and Jaheira are done healing the wounded, Ajantis will Lay on Hands if anyone is still damaged. Not that a level 1 paladin can heal all that much.*
"Thank Helm we were able to defeat that threat without casualty, though we very nearly lost you, Arkanis. This place is as deadly as it is curious."
Ajantis notices Alora's antics and frowns at Aerie's blushing face for a moment, as if in thought. Then, his eyes sliding from her to Anomen and back again slowly, the frown deepens as light dawns.
"Rather than interfering with a healer going about her duties, Miss Alora, perhaps your time would be better served locating new attire for Anomen."
"Thanks Minsc for that proper blow. And thanks Aerie, i feel much better now." Arkanis looks around, searching for something, what for he can change his worn garment.
Neera is impressed by Anomen's sexiness but is going to tease him regardless, "Better cover up, Anomen, or that body of yours will attract every monster in here!"
Ajantis notices Alora's antics and frowns at Aerie's blushing face for a moment, as if in thought. Then, his eyes sliding from her to Anomen and back again slowly, the frown deepens as light dawns.
Aerie needs two spells to heal Arkanis, and even then, while his skin grows back, there is reddened line around where he was acid burned.
OOC: So did she use a scroll and two healing spells? Sounds about right.
Aerie nodded to Arkanis for his thanks with a small smile. She was uncertain how long he might have those scars, but Arkanis was a warrior and didn't strike her as a man who would mind an ugly mark or two. At the very least, he had a good story to tell.
Surveying the rest of the room again, her gaze settled on the portraits on the wall. "I wonder what might have filled the blank space, if the two men had continued to live here. Alora, have your sharp eyes noticed anything strange in this chamber?"
"I can't find anything interesting in the room. Museums are boring. And this one is worse than most. There's nothing worth stealing. If you want some new clothes we'll have to look somewhere else. There's a passage going north we haven't tried yet."
Okay, Alora goes north. The room here is 40' by 50', with an extra 10' by 20' bump-out to the north and west. This room is filled with piles of rubble, rocks and mining equipment- hods, barrels and wheelbarrows, jacks, bracing timbers and piles of dressed stone. To the north, there is a set of stairs leading upwards.
Alora will do a quick check of the room to see if there is anything interesting . She will then head back to the room outside the door to the museum and this time she will try heading south.
The southern passages snakes to the east, bumping north and south, for over 100 feet before trending to the north. Neera feels a hollowness in the rock to her left, and when studying the area, Arkanis can see a faint trail through the bits of rock, dirt and rotten leaves on the floor. It takes Alora quite a bit to discover how to open it, but a wedge of rock slides aside, giving entrance to a rough, rock-walled cavern about 30' north-south by 40's east-west. a heap of small bits of gravel lies in the center, collected into untidy, dusty piles.
@reedmilfam Jaheira hasn't used any of her healing spells.
The dust seems to have mostly settled, but Alora walking in stirs some of it up again. The rock rubble seems to be the same bits of black slate that make up the walls here. There is, however, a tiny flash of silver that Alora sees near the edge of one of the piles of rubble.

Feel proud you survived!
Well this is ruined.
*Anomen takes off his tunic and chainmail revealing his buff, yet not burnt bod. yet wincing at the pain as he does so.*

Ohhh.... evil has strange shapes around here...
