Branwen, takes to the middle of the group. "What is that?" She asked, when the passed by the dead body. The way it looked, plus the fact the rest of the group shied away from it, told her it was no good. She glanced at the keg, and the rest of the cavern. "This is a weird place to leave a keg..."
"This is the life. Adventure, steel on steel... Stuff of legends, right, Boo?" Minsc liked the way that his voice echoed in the cavern, as it made him seem even huger than normal, which was saying something. "Stand back, Evil," he cried out. "Heero coming through!" Quieter, he added, "Hear that, Boo? Evil will run, now. Or it will meet sword. Either way, Minsc is happy."
Okay. There is a passage south, but the eastern one continues on, and there is another passage to the south and east before the passage dead-ends in a wall. From the caverns to the south and east there are lights (except for the first one).
At seeing the rot grubs, Imoen had a feeling that an unlucky soul searched for this passage from the other end and found nothing. She's glad to be away from them and down the other tunnel. She will help Alora scout passages, search for traps and unlock things if need be.
OOC I have to leave shortly to teach an evening class. I'll be back around 10pm central. In the meantime, Imoen will do her thiefly best to be useful. She will not shake out any pieces of cloth that happen to be laying around. In case of combat, she'll use her bow, first. If using a bow presents too much risk to the other members of the party, she will try to hide in shadows and backstab with the dagger of venom.
Branwen frowned at the un-warrior-like elf's response. "I wasn't asking that. But why? It's not like someone would just leave this here, would they?" She shook her head, and watched the sneaky-ones wander off, presamably to see what is ahead. She shook her head, and followed behind the others, staying within earshout of the rouges, but with the rest of the group.
"Then we shall beat them back, if they dare. Any how, Tempus will grant us victory." She said. The priestess found the Elf's gloominess most unwarrior-like.
"We shall all do our best, no matter how futile this turns out to be," Xan said. "Nonetheless, I am grateful that such a one as yourself has deigned to join us. This expedition has proved... most deadly."
Alora comes back to tell the others what she has found, including the better-lit caves. "I listened, but I didn't hear anyone or anything moving," Alora says, cheerfully. "Just the slow drip of water, and the sound of the waves."
"Boo says that the gods sometimes help and sometimes don't," Minsc soberly reported, for he felt that some of the Wisdom of Boo needed sharing. It wasn't nice to keep all of the Boo-Ness to himself, after all. "But Minsc favors heroes that start with Mmmm. Like Mazzy, and not Xan." Deep thoughts that were important. So were random ones, like the one that popped into his head just then. "The squeaky wheel gets the kick!" Amazing stuff, he and Boo came up with. No doubt, they were all very impressed and heroical-feeling.
"Because you want to be hero, like Mazzy. Only not so heroical. And not so strong. And not so brave." Minsc had more to say to him, as it was important to motivate and cheer up Xan. "Or like Minsc, only without the face that the ladies love. And no hamster. And with small sword. Right, Boo?"
"Us, of course. Because most of us are brave warriors." She said the last part with a rather pointed look to the gloomy mage. If he could only stop his whinning, perhaps they would have an even greater chance of winning Tempus's favor.
Completely missing the sarcasm of the tiny whelp, Xan, Minsc said, "Caves are always teeming with evil and decay. Let's give it a kick, and see what comes out!" He began toward the south, expecting the others to follow his lead. "Magic is impressive," he stated. "But, now, Minsc leads. Swords for everyone!" Not knowing which cave was more likely to harbor evil with wide butts and a penchant for hard kicks, Minsc chose to walk south.
Sword in hand, Minsc walks about the cavern, alternating between watching his steps and looking for evil that might drop in him. Perhaps a helmet wasn't a bad idea, he reflected, for this was a case where his height did not necessarily prevent him from taking another blow to the head. Since the first allowed him to talk to Boo, he was nervous about being robbed of the ability.
As Minsc prepares to enter the cavern, a river of green slime pours down from the ceiling. Minsc jumps backwards, nearly landing on Alora, but is able to avoid the slime. Now, the slime is everywhere on the floor, and this is not a good place to enter...
