That is why I'm using GOG version. You can disable autoupdate completely. You can also revert to the previous game build (even to 1.3, no problem).
Is there a difference between using GOG or beamdog (which I realized I had an old account for)?
There is, in terms of file/folder structure. GoG has its own outer folders by default. (Although, you can choose to use your own folder structure.) As a result, some GoG users find that they have to use ModMerge, just like Steam users do.
Does Beamdog have auto-updates that will mess up the game or can I turn those off?
Beamdog's updates will erase mods. But it's still best to install them because their update tend to fix critical bugs.
You need to run the Beamdog Launcher to update your mods, but you don't need to run the Beamdog Launcher to play the game. So, if you just start the game directly, you won't be auto-updating your game at all.
Before starting a new campaign, it's best to make sure that your games and mods are up to date. Once you start a game, it's best to leave things as they are, and don't update during a runthrough.
Yes THE FinnjoBGII_Subrace mod. The part that reduces fighting ability in daylight is buggy however. I go into EE Keeper and delete that part, but all in all it works OK. There are a few bugs in it, but most can be ironed out with EE Keeper, and you don't HAVE to iron them out. The mod automatically changes the appearance of the character. (White beard for Arctic Dwarf and white hair dark skin for drow for instance)
With Tutu it actually changed the character record so that the sub-race was noted, however that part doesn't work since EE altered the interface.
However with those provisos, it does work with EE.
Interesting. I like it that the Enhanced Editions inspired so many people to create NPC's for the first game. In BG Tutu, the amount of available fan-created NPC's was far less. Though none of the newer NPC's has diminished my love for Finch as my most favourite player creation. Too bad she didn't make the jump to the EE's.

Hello, I have a couple of questions, where do the mod files need to be extracted to, the Baldur's Gate or Siege of Dragonspear directory? And do I have to install the mods first, or first modmerge? I am quite new to this sort of thing.

Where did you buy the game from? If you bought from Beamdog directly, you don't need modmerge. Just extract your mods to Siege, as it includes all the files for BG.

There is another mod which has this thread. https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/16668/mod-beta-38-subraces-for-bg-ee-0-87-updated-3-11-2013/p4
Both sub-race mods can be found at spellhold studios. (SHS) However the site is down at the moment.

You're posting one NPC twice instead of 3 NPC's. Who's the third?

Actually, there is an EE version of Finch here.
