#Troodon80 I told myself twice that what the OP call the drama is not related to this tread and it has not to be discussed here. I still think that talking of the consequences of the drama, as possible cause of the changes that are the matter of this tread, seem to me not so OT (and it does not mean that myself have that opinion), and that was my only point, even if I did not appreciate to see that video posted here. But I will not derail further, as you request to me. Because I respect the request of an administrator and further more because writing things that can upset people is against the rules of this forums.
No because the controversy had nothing to do with why the staff mentioned in the Original post left the company.
As stated through out this thread and other topics, each of these individuals left the company for different reasons, the last two Dee and Mad Bee due to a restructuring.
I think the cancelling of the free to play game effected their potential income than any miss opportunity sales of previous releases.
But 2 pages of gazebo talk were OK with the King of the Thread. Just not discussion of possible causes for Beamdog difficulties and decline. Unless the reasons are approved.
Let me clarify some points before this gets out of hand and becomes a true flaming festival.
1) The only censorship is this forum is the PG 13 rating. If your thread or comment breaks the PG 13 guidelines it will be removed/edited. Normally we will notify the person responsible to do it themselves but for obvious reasons we can't wait too long.
2) We usually respect the OP of a thread. If he/she requests that a certain topic is not discussed in his/her thread then it shouldn't. This also is not censorship. It's called politeness.
3) If anyone wishes to discuss if the controversy caused any financial trouble to Beamdog, feel free to open a new thread and leave a link here.
If anyone has any doubts about the forum rules, please read them
According to Trent Oster, Siege of Dragonspear has been a success for Beamdog and continues to be a success.
So, no, the controversy around the launch of SoD can't stop the future of next projects for Beamdog. If anything, the SoD launch had allowed to evaluate the strategy the company had been using, which led to developing a new plan to ensure Beamdog can deliver products the company could be very proud of.
There will be next releases, and the focus on each project will be tighter. Quality narrative design, programming and art team will help Beamdog to bring excellent RPGs.
