    @thedamages

"Yes, oh omnipresent authority figure?" is still pretty darn sassy.

    True

    "Considerate? Done."
    Instead of "Consider it done."

I'll have to admit that I after all these years still haven't got a clue what Taerom Thunderhammer says the very first time you talk to him. "Kiss me blank"...?

    Nimran said:

    "Kiss me blarney," maybe?

Yes, definitely, and even quite clearly enunciated. But for those unfamiliar with the word "blarney", and perhaps also unaware that his accent is intended to sound Irish, it might be very difficult to interpret.

This is what the subtitles, which you can't see since it's an 'initial meeting' quote, has to say:
    0. INITIAL_MEETING [TAEROM FUIRUIM 1] Kiss me blarmy! What ya wish done?

@Artemius_I - that's just a spelling error in the game text. (And not the only one, of course.)

Oooooh, thanks! Yeah, it took me some time to realize that he is supposed to sound irish, and by that time my brain was already permanently stuck in can't-understand-mode.

When I was a kid playing BG 1 for the first time I thought the tutors were torturers and the dwarves were always going on about their timber.

'Get outta me way you crummy lawman'.
That one was very puzzling to me when I was playing an evil assassin. I thought maybe he was talking to one of the militia members...

In Icewind Dale, when you disable one of the lightning trap rings in Upper Dorn's Deep, I originally misread the message as:

"You hear a loud click, followed by elven similar-sounding clicks echoing throughout the room."

The dwarves would've been furious to learn that their machinery was making elven clicks!

Original dialogue: Winthrop: "My hotel is clean as an elven arse!"

What I heard: Winthrop: "My hotel is clean as an woven arse!"

I never caught the word "elven" from that dialog (because of Winthrop's accent), until recently when I saw a post by @Shandyr on his wall. Earlier, I thought Winthrop was saying something like "oven" or "woven", and I thought the area in question was clean because it was woven or sewed shut to never let anything pass through...

Back a long time ago, when I was still new to Baldur's Gate, I had thought that the "He who fights with monsters..." quote by Nietzsche was talking about someone who fights alongside monsters (e.g. Sarevok).

This quote was also the first time I had heard of Nietzsche in my life, and I didn't pay close attention to how his last name was spelled. For some time, I pronounced his name (in my head, anyway) as Fried-rich Night-scythe.

Night-scythe is so much cooler than Nietzsche.

Is that a fried, iron-rich scythe for nightly fridge raids?

And it makes a great name for a heavy metal album.

BG1 Ajantis: "My honor is my wife!" (I wonder if I should uninstall the romance??)

In BG2 background noises in Amn I always hear someone shouting something about Walmart.
