That picture of Sarevok standing on corpses. For some reason, that image doesn't sit right. Sarevok killed a lot of people, sure, but Genghis-Khan-pyramids-of-skulls numbers of people? I don't think so.
Could this be a 'what if' story, where Sarevok successfully carried out his plan for a war of sacrifice with Amn?
Trent did say something about Adventure Y 'altering' the Bhaalspawn story, rather than complimenting it.
Could that explain the '...mercy of the Grand Dukes...' dialogue, since Sarevok's plan involved becoming a Grand Duke? Could it explain the Flaming Fist outside the Iron Throne headquarters?
Corwin is the canonical name of the hero who cleared Dragonspear Castle, the place where we're most likely headed in Adventure Y (especially with the new dragon featuring UI - or maybe Overhaul is just very good at red herrings), so naming their PC that could have just been a reference to him, or meant as another hint towards Dragonspear.
found on my phone, I present them without comment.

Does anyone else find these weirdly familiar yet unplaceable? I'm sure I've seen them before.
It looks to me like that art would fit in perfectly with an altered version of the Shadows of Amn intro video.
Not saying that's the case, but it does seem possible that they had worked up a more modern-looking intro video before the rage about the video changes in the first Enhanced Edition caused them to go back to the original videos in Baldur's gate 2.
Baldur's Gate maps being reused, with some favourite NPCs.
The Fist guarding the Iron Throne.
A Deva?
A new engine... For new games... o_O
*Anduin, the mummified gnome, has a brain aneurysm... His brain falls off the mantlepiece and the jar containing it shatters to a million pieces, Anduin steps on it...*
Mind Blown... and stamped on...
Strictly speaking the new engine can be an old engine for new versions of old games. PSTEE might be out, but Aurora/Electron is more modern than Infinity...
What I'm thinking is that the surviving Grand Dukes have caught wind that you and Sarevok were somehow related. As stated in the BG2 trailer, somehow people found out. If the Grand Dukes do indeed know of this connection, they would likely quarantine the Iron Throne due prevent you and others messing with edvidence from within.
Or it could just be the Flaming Fist is guarding the Iron Throne building so that the local populace doesn't tear it down for stealing all of their money.
The war with Amn can indeed be the case: this looks either like a war camp or like a consequence of a war operation:
I hope for continuity's sake that's not the story presented in Adventure Y. A recently ended or ongoing war with Baldur's Gate would definitely be something we'd hear about and possibly see the consequences of in Athkatla in BG2.

If it is a what-if, which is what was originally suggested for the 'War with Amn' idea, then there'd be no issue with the lack of mentions in BG2, since as far as BG2 is concerned it did not happen. Of course, what seems to be the last Infinity adventure telling something that could have been but canonically didn't seems somewhat unlikely...
@Sergio: Hey hey hey! We just have nothing else to do here, (real life apart) and this is one of the most interesting news of the moment: what else we should discuss on this forum, at the moment, other than the wait for IWD:EE and discussing all the speculations on Adventure Y?

Or another red herring.

You're experimenting the Dungeon Master feelings when the players are trying to solve some intricate plot, huh? ;D
You know, to tease is their job, now.
