The ring of zombification is actually a tribute to the translation skills of the people responsible for the dutch manual. "Turn undead" was translated as "zombie worden" which translates back as "become undead".
If you have a Wisdom of 6 or lower, you can actually say yes when Quallo asks if you want to kiss his carrion crawler friend. According to the dialogue, the carrion crawler is a really awesome kisser.
If you do it three times, the carrion crawler joins your party, and can resolve all plot-relevant fights with kisses and cuddles. It's really quite sweet.
Did you *actually* know that if you kill Quallo's friend with the sword Lilarcor +3, then the sword will release the ghost of Lawrence Lilarcor from his binding, and become a mundane two-handed sword. Lilarcor's Ghost thanks you for his freedom, and then charges at a sewer pipe shouting "Die, monstrous wyrm!", hacking at it ineffectually with an immaterial sword. He stays there doing that for the rest of the game, achieving nothing.
However, if you come back later with the Voidsword +3 in your possession and an Evil Cleric in your party, then activating Rebuke Undead will re-bind Lilarcor's Ghost into the Voidsword, which thereby becomes able to harm undead (which it previously couldn't do) with the same damage as it harms the living.
are both of you trolling? why? I thought this was a serious thread..
Are you trolling?
"Did you know?" is a serious thread, but "Did you *actually* know?" is a parallel thread for jokes and wind-ups. But we're not supposed to say that out loud, because that spoils the wind-up!
If you use a piece of Imoen's soul to revive Sarevok, he develops a feminine side. If you also use him as party spokesperson, he and Balthazar will fall in love, saving you the Balthazar fight. However, Sarevok and Balthazar will elope together so he won't be available for the Melissan fight.
But if you made Sarevok swear an oath, leaving with Balthazar will mean he has broken his vow. The geas will kill him and you have to fight a very unhappy Balthazar anyway.
On the same map as Beregost's temple you can find a hermit wandering amongst the foothills of the northeast. This hermit was actually afflicted by lycanthropy, and as a result a pack of wolves follows his every move out of respect.
Did you actually know that if a wild mage casts simulacrum and get the surge to have the spell cast as AoE and his familiar is near by also the familiar get a simulacrum clone? But it is only half of the tale, asking to the familiar and the clone to go in the backpack and quickly saving and reloading he gets permanently the HP of the second familiar.
If you have grandmastery in two handed swords and full pips in both two handed weapons and two weapon fighting, you can dual wield two handed swords! You need at least 18/00 strength and it only works for vanilla fighters and Kensai.
If elves seem particularly attuned with natures, it is because they are actually sentient trees. A magical club is just some elven wizard's severed limb.
It turns out that Wilson isn't just a Grizzly Bear. He's actually a Shapeshifter Druid who decided that he'd re-train himself as a specialist in werebear form instead of the customary werewolf form.
He eventually learnt how to transform into a bear, and tested it. Unfortunately, he hadn't yet learnt how to transform back, but as a bear he's now too dim to work out how to do it, so he's stuck in bear form.
However, if you import the cloak "Relair's Mistake" to BG2ee and give it to Wilson, that'll enable him to transform to wolf*, and from wolf he already knows how to revert to his natural form. By studying the cloak (after reverting to natural form to regain his INT), he can then learn how to make the bear transformation work in both directions (although he'll digest the cloak in the learning process). After levelling up, he'll also learn the Greater Werebear transformation (which has a more viable AC than his ordinary bear form, and can also drink resistance potions).
* It is left as an exercise for the student to work out how Wilson can put on the cloak so as to enable the wolf transformation.

This also opens up the route to beat Drizzt without cheats. You just have to import your charname and this evolved Wilson back to BG1.
Carbos and Shank got into Candlekeep the same way you did in late BG1: by donating a rare book. Both assassins are actually celebrated Sword Coast poets, and they each gave the first copy of their magnus opus to the library. That's why they're so easy to kill.
Carbos and Shank only took the assassin job to help pay for their children's educations.

My Paladin charname is ashamed after learning this. Now we need a mod where we can raise them from the dead...
If you give Cespenar the Troll Cook's recipe book, Wanev's scroll, a rogue stone, the Big Metal Unit and 314,159 GP he will create the Little Metal Unit. It has the same abilities as the Big Metal Unit except that you don't look like an Iron Golem when you wear it; instead you look like a Lim-Lim from Planescape: Torment.
For another 1,618,033.99 GP he can create the Divine Metal Unit which is always in perfect proportions to the wearer.

yeah *that* one

Edit: spelling.
There is a serious thread here: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/29289/did-you-know#latest
