Minsc kills one of the stirges. Thankfully, he doesn't hit Ajantis this time.

OOC Some people would think that was a good thing.

OOC: On the bright side at least Neera wasn't casting a spell . . .

OOC: On the bright side at least Neera wasn't casting a spell . . .

OOC That would be fun... Just imagine she gets a "Target falls in love with caster" wild surge :)

Tries stabbing the last remaining strirge.

Minion, roll 1d20 for attack and please be nice about it.

    LOL. Epic Fail!

Aerie couldn't help herself. Watching her friends paw around the floored stirges like children, she began to laugh. Only a little...but still.
  • deltagodeltago Member Posts: 7,811
OOC: still waiting for Neera’s critical miss with her staff. I am guessing she is going to either splinter it or hit Ajantis.

    OOC: @deltago shhh...

    Aerie misses.

The last Stirge gets back in the air and goes after...

    Minion, roll 1d8 for target
Minion, roll 1d20 for Stirge attack

It goes after Ajantis and misses.

Oops, intrigued by these things, leaps off Neera's shoulder and goes after the Stirge..

Minion, roll 1d20 for Oops Cat attack

Minion, roll 1d3 for Oops damage

Alora will creep over to the opening, trying to move silently so as not to draw attention to herself, and will try to see what is moving in and out of the bones.

Minion, roll 1d20 for Piercer attack
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
A small piercer falls from the ceiling, thankfully missing Alora.

“By helm!” swears Ajantis. “I bet this cavern is littered with dozens of these tiny falling beasts of devouring hunger.”
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
OOC: Is the piercer helpless now that it is on the ground? If it is Alora will just avoid it. If not she will attack it.

Alora checks the roof of the cavern to try to avoid walking under any more piercers and if that is possible she will creep to the edge of the opening to see what is crawling amid the bones.

Alora is sincerely hoping that it turns out to be a mouse.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Pretty much. They are helpless if they can't pierce you.

After spotting no more piercers, you make your way to the edge of the hole and looked down, scanning the bones. After a moment, you see another movement. A snake. A foot-long, iridescents snake.

"Guys, there is a pretty little snake down here. Minsc, Jaheira do you know what kind of snake this is? Do you think it is a poisonous one?"
  • mlnevesemlnevese Member, Moderator Posts: 10,214
"Boo is that an evil snake?"

OOC are we using skill checks?
  • deltagodeltago Member Posts: 7,811
Probably a poisonous one that will turn anyone it bites into a balloon.
  • NimranNimran Member Posts: 4,875
“I won’t be the first to find out.”
  • mashedtatersmashedtaters Member Posts: 2,266
“I will!” says Ajantis bravely. “Perhaps this snake is the key to our ne’er-balloon blessing for Alora!”
  • NonnahswriterNonnahswriter Member Posts: 2,520
"Somehow, I doubt it..." Aerie whispered under her breath.

OOC: it was unique exploding orcs that infected Alora and I (and i think Jan) with a disease that would have turned us into gas balloons. A priestess of Sylvanus cured us with us taking on the debt of finding a pool that magically heals wounds and bring her back a vial. We have the vial and are headed back now (sort of) but giant birds picked us up and dropped us in this valley. We are wandering alone hopelessly lost and why Anomen is demanding we find our way back to civilization so we can finish the duty that we started.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
OOC: Yes, Gas Orcs were Gas Spores in the shape of Orcs. If you get exploded on, you get seeded on to make more of them. All that was needed was Cure Disease, which Alora and the others got. (Ajantis wasn't in the party at the time.)

All right, Ajantis is lowered into the room on your ropes.

Below you is the floor of the other cave, littered with bones. It's hard to tell, but you think many of them are sheep bones, but they are of all shapes and sizes. There do appear to be more snakes than just the one, but you think that if you move carefully enough, you might be able to get through without having to step on, fight, or get too close to any of the snakes.

The snakes don't appear to the especially aggressive, as as long as they are allowed to go about their snake lives in peace, you should be fine.

The cavern itself is low and sort of parallelogram shaped, with additional space to the north and about 20' by 60' at its largest point. On the north wall, to the eastern side of the room, is a ladder leading up. It appears there used to be some sort of opening to the east, but it was blocked off by stones- too large and too many for you to shift, to the north.

Now that Ajantis is closer to the bones, he can see that they include horse, deer, rabbit, cow, and, disturbingly, bones that look human, elven and even that of a dwarf. While there are plenty of snakes, there are also plenty of places to step if you wish to avoid them.

The room here is about 10' high.

If there is room Alora will have herself lowered down to join Anjantis so she can help to look for secret doors and traps (and purely incidentally, treasure).
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
Unless your idea of treasure is bones, Alora comes up empty. The "ladder" such as it is, is hand and footholds cut into the stone. At the top of it is 10' of a corridor, which ends a door leading north.
