The rat gobbles up the cake hungrily, the darts away and runs out a holw far down in the wall and away to somewhere else. The hole is too small for Alora to follow.

This is another small, 20' square room. Each wall is 20' long. The door is in the center of the southern 10' of the east wall. In the center of the south wall of the room is a lever. The lever has two positions, up and down. It is currently in the down position, which is unlabeled. The "up" position is labeled "A". There is nothing else in the room except for a few small crumbs of cake.

"I'm going to move both of the levers to the up position and I think that will open the portcullis. Everyone should get into position in case something nasty comes out."

Once the party is in position Alora will move the first lever to A and the second to B.

Putting lever "A" up is fine. But when Alora yanks on the lever for "B", she feels a pain in her thumb.

Alora suddenly doesn't feel so well. At all. Even though the portcullises rise, she falls. She takes 10 points of damage, falling unconscious.

Edwin looks at the downed halfling with something akin to impatience. “Must I do EVERYTHING? Quickly, Tiax, use your magics to help this creature, lest we lose our only thief. (We all know the elf girl is less competent, must have he mad one do it.) I would loathe having to return to the burrow for another hobbit. This one seems suitable for now. (And her deference to my intellect is an indication of usefulness.)”

“You do not command Tiax! No one commands Tiax! Tiax is ruler of all!” Tiax stomps away, but not too far away, and pouts.

“(The gnome is a fool, and his breath stinks.) Fine! YOU can check the traps from now on. One would have thought the great Tiax preferred having an underling do the dirty work for him, such as this pitiful halfling. (Pitiful? Yes, indeed, she is... I guess it’s back to the burrow after all, I’m sure this delusional gnome will be dead in a day.)”

Arkanis tries his best to help the halfling.
"Come on Aerie, i think she is poisoned!"
OOC: Do you have a list from our items LadyRhian? it would be good to know if we have any antidote or healing potion.

Will you two shut up. *snapping at the two new comers and then more calmer* Last Aerie, do you have any magics that might heal the girl?

OOC: Isn’t Tiax also a thief?

OOC: Aerie just woke up thirty minutes ago.

Does she have Slow Poison memorized? If she does, she'd like to use it. And a CLW.

Aerie casts Slow Poison. Lora's face visibly calms from pain. Then, she casts Cure Light Wounds.

The east side portcullis opens on a corridor leading east and/or south, and the western portcullis opens on a corridor leading west. Each corridor is 10' wide and both lead in the one direction as far as you can see. The corridor is lit by small light globes hung overhead.

This kingdom was obviously rich in magic.

Alora looks up at all the faces looking down at her. "Did I die? Have you resurrected me? Or have I been reincarnated? Am I still a halfling?" Alora looks at her feet. They are big a furry. She is still a halfling.

"I think we should look for some more healing potions because I still feel icky." Alora gets back to her feet. "The portcullises are open. Look at the pretty lights. Which way should we go? Let's go to the east."

    Alora goes East.

OOC: @LadyRhian - Congratulations! I just noticed you have reached the 10,000 comments mark. You should be getting a new badge. Only three people have got it before. @JuliusBorisov @Dee @elminster You are in exalted company.

Alora heads east down the eastern corridor. After 50', the corridor has an offshoot heading south or stairs going down heading east. You can see 40' down the south corridor, it intersects with another corridor heading east-west.

Alora will head down the stairs, checking for traps as she goes.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
The stairs go down for 30', then run for another 40', then down another 10' to an extremely large cavern, about 90' north-south and 40' east-west. The walls of this room are covered with oozing green slime. Aside from the slime, the room appears to be empty.

"This is an awfully big cave to have nothing in it. It's big enough for a dragon," says Alora (who has never seen a dragon). I still don't feel very well so does someone else want to go and take a look around?"
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Alora's curiosity gets the better of her. "I could just take a bit of a look around," she says, "Just to make sure there really isn't anything in here."

Alora will keep well clear of the slimy walls as she scouts around the cave. She will attempt to hid ein the shadows and move silently as she does so.

Well, if she can't brush up against the walls (because of the slime) there isn't much to hide in shadows in. But after about 10 minutes, she doesn't see anything change.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
"This cave is empty," Alora announces self-importantly. "Everyone back upstairs."

Alora will take the south corridor and go east again when she comes to the intersection.
  • LadyRhianLadyRhian Member Posts: 14,694
20' down the south corridor, Alora sees a door to the east.
  • Permidion_StarkPermidion_Stark Member Posts: 4,861
Alora will go to the door and listen and check for traps. If she finds nothing she will wait for the party to gather before opening it.

Alora finds no locks or traps on the door. Inside is a pool of fresh water bubbling from a crack in the rock of the wall. It's unclear if this is new (since the explosion) or old. There is sediment here, a fine sand of dark red material (not like the red glow around the palace, more like red sandstone.) There is a disturbance in the middle of the pool, and three sleek, seal-like heads break the surface. They appear to have been swimming.

uck, more aquatic creatures. I wonder if they're friendlier then the dolphins.
