The door is not locked, and she cannot find any traps. The door opens on a corridor running south. After 20', there is a branching corridor to the south. The corridor also continues to run west.
The door is unlocked and, as far as Alora can tell, has no traps on it. When she opens, the door, she sees that the room's walls are mostly covered in shelves. The shelves are covered with books and scrolls. There are also a number of wooden tables and chairs in the room. You notice that this room has more light globes in it than usual. There is an unlit fireplace against the southern wall, and directly across from where you entered, another door, leading west.
There are a TON of books and scrolls. It's gonna take her a long time to search. The tables and chairs are fairly simple (no hidden compartments). It would probably be best for others to help.
"Come on everyone we need to look through these scrolls and books and stuff," says Alora. She starts off enthusiastically but gets bored after about five minutes and starts to wonder whether it is worth the effort.
Alora is distinctly underwhelmed by this find (especially since she didn't find it). "Never mind Edwin," she says trying to cheer the wizard up, "We'll keep looking and I am sure we will find that scroll for your Nether parts eventually."
Alora will check the fireplace and if she finds nothing will leave by the door leading west.
The small door leads to a 10' room that's actually more of a passageway. It's lined with shelves, and thus is very narrow and cramped. There is a door at the western end. Please let me know the order of the party through the room.
As the party enters the room, some of them can hear Edwin mumbling to himself.
“(Foolish girl, does she not know the Nether scroll would be guarded by powerful magics beyond her imagination? To find it lying in the dust on a bookshelf unguarded would be the greatest slight against arcane knowledge since the time of troubles... nether parts indeed, if only I needn’t save my spells for later, I’d turn that bubbling hobbit into a bubbling puddle...)
“Give me that scroll of web!” he snaps. “At least I can actually understand what it says...!”
Shut up fool. So does the lady, and I trust her use of magic more than yours, and that is saying a lot. Now pipe down, we don’t want to attract attention. *oblivious to his own loud mouth*
The door above them is closed. As they wait, small openings on the walls open and oil begins pouring out. Then, another door opens and an unlit torch drops out.
Minsc gets the trap open, but the trap immediately snaps shut again. He's going to have to prop the trap door open in some way. He hears a stone sliding under the door.
“Must I do everything myself?” mutters Edwin again. He tosses down a rope and ties it off. “(You’d think these two could actually climb, being the simians they are.) Tie the torch to the rope and I will pull it up, so you don’t cook yourselves alive (fools).”
