Behold, the elusive female dwarf, by Aegileif on deviantart.
Aegileif's art has a Baldur's feel to it, in my eyes. The selection is limited unless you're keen on Hobbit fanart (in particular, male dwarves without shirts) but there are some good portraits there.
Try putting these 3 files in your override folder.
The files have to be bmp files, and in addition the file that you use should be 330 x 210 pixels. These files worked fine for me. Right click on the image and use "save image as." jpegs and png files won't work in BG. They didn't exist when BG was written.
EDIT Delete the huron files that are already in the override folder and restart BG before starting the new game.
I'm pleased about that. I normally have 2 images, a large one encompassing all or at least most of the body, and another of just the head. I think that part of your problem was that it was the wrong size. I halved the image size.

The EEs can resize the image, as long as it is no bigger than 1024 pixels wide. See @JuliusBorisov's thread here:
One issue I've encountered is that the EEs cannot handle BMP files with a negative height in the header (this is legal by the file format, a negative height just means the bitmap is written top-down instead of bottom-up). EDIT: This issue also applies to the original games; it is not exclusive to the EEs.
@LordLeviathan This is what I mean about having a large one encompassing all or at least most of the body, and another of just the head. The large image isn't yet finished as the shadows are wrong, but I think you will get the idea of what I mean. However, if the images are not the same, I have to use EEkeeper and change the portraits with that. @AstroBryGuy You said: The EEs can resize the image, as long as it is no bigger than 1024 pixels wide. See @JuliusBorisov's thread here: The portrait of LordLeviathan was 768 pixels wide so can't understand what the problem was, unless it was having a png file in the portrait folder.
I actually said that they should be in the override folder, I meant the portrait folder.
The photos are EXCEEDINGLY similar and there are a lot of others that are almost identical. This is where Google Image Search falls down. Many, many people take photos of that area just because it is so photogenic. I'll probably take some myself next time I am there. That way copyright won't be an issue.
@nzdawghaus Wow. There is a strong discussion about correct use of copyrighted material going on in this forum right now, and you post a cropped image where you "Couldn't figure out the original author of the source pic".
Copyright infringement was the main reason a personal favorite avatar site of mine was taken down - http://drakonis.org. It had such a huge selection, all cropped and ready to go for anyone visiting the site. Although it had sourced original authors, it was a general disclaimer on a source page and not authored to each individual artwork made available.
I gather this, alongside of how many avatars it was hosting within each good, evil, race, class genre, and its popularity, became its eventual downfall.
So yeah, do your best to source what you post and if you don't know, don't post it.
I was half-regretting starting that discussion in the first place because it turned out to super stressed me out with all it's negative feedback, but seeing the previous two comments cheers me up immensely. Thank you, guys

You assume that people have the knowlege that you have. Until I saw this post I didn't know about Google Picture Search. I am glad that you have shared that information as it means that I can post on this thread more freely.
So... if I were to post screenshot from music video and write "baldurise pls" I won't be breaking any law, right? I don't want SWAT bashing through my door...
In honour of the imminent slew of announcements concerning Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition, I'm gonna post some Annah art that would make pretty good charname art/Icewind Dale character art tbqh

@GenderNihilismGirdle: In the future, please add the artists' names to those images. It's standard practice to source artwork before posting it online. Nearly all artists expect, and all are entitled, to receive credit for their work.
Anyone else played as a Medusa within Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide? Lots of fun! Really makes one wonder where all the snake food goes into.

Later instalments of the HOMM series have some realy cool portraits.
I want to use this custom portrait but only the medium size one appear in game not the small one.
I want to know if anyone can help with this.
I post both version of the portrait.

EDIT: Hard to tell if they are supposed to represent both small and medium, now that I look closer I see they have the same file name.
So I don't know. You have to provide more info, and it might help to actually post the files you are trying to use as small and medium.

I shortened him somewhat.
Another Paladin. I made it my blending the original arts of Stanley Lau (https://br.pinterest.com/eusoubrunomello/stanley-lau-artgerm/) and Utako Oelze (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/lzLAJ)
This took me 5 seconds with Google picture search: the original is from MATArt at Deviantart, picturing a character named Glokta, an interrogator from the books by Joe Abercrombie. (Someone edited in the elves ears, as it seems.)
Seriously!

@nzdawghaus I apologize for my tone. I can't expect everyone to follow all threads (I don't, either).

I did a google search, but can't seem to be able to find the author though there are images everywhere.
How do I find the author? If I joined Pinterest, would I find the information there? Since it's size is 300 x 210, it makes me think that the image might have been made for BG.
Edit: If i follow your link right @Wise_Grimwald
Edit 2: Ha, this painting is almost as old as i
