Beamdog made a Wiiware port and a HD remaster of the second game, so it's not like they have no interest in the series. MDK2 was a pretty cool game, I liked how cartoonish and goofy it was compared what BioWare usually does. Sometimes a light-hearted gameplay-oriented game is a breath of fresh air, see what I mean?
OT: Trent Oster's shirt looks like it's going to explode at any moment.
Here is the top secret list of the next six Beamdog games:
Gazebo Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Matchbox Gazebo Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Beavers Gazebo Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Zippos Gazebo Wars Episode 4: A New Park Ranger Gazebo Wars Episode 5: The Termites Strike Back Gazebo Wars Episode 6: Return of the Fire Brigade
Gazebo Wars Episode 10: The Gazebo effect Gazebo Gathering storm: Grievance Gazes upon Gazebo First kiss under the gazebo: A gazebo romance story The Gazebo Saga: Geyser under Gazebo The Gazebo Saga: Groovy goose Gazebo gig and Gleeman's Guitar
Also, any Beamdog devs that may read this; if the rights were available, is an Arcanum EE something you would be interested in doing and is there even a vague possibility of this someday?

The Troika guys are all (or at least two of them) are at Obsidian now. Maybe if they decide to do an Arcanum "sequel" there'd be enough interest for Beamdog to do an EE of the original. As it is, Arcanum is a pretty unknown title and probably wouldn't make financial sense. Personally, I'd really want to see them do EE's of the first two Fallout games, especially for the tablet versions. With the turn-based combat, those would be even more suitable for tablets than the IE games (which, don't get me wrong, are fantastic on the touch screen). Plus it'll give the dudes going on every single RPG board on the internet calling Beamdog "parasites" for "stealing Black Isle's work" something to keep themselves occupied with. Win-win! Beamdog-bashing is it's own cottage industry these days.

Yes, but iiirc, Activision owns the actual Arcanum IP...

ah...well maybe they can make Urcanam: Of Working Steam and Hard-to-see Hocus Pocus
The greatest problem of remaking old games is if the original resources are still available. If they don't have at least the source code to work with it's nearly impossible... they would have o recreate the entire game.
Ok, I am gonna pretend I am someone of importance and give my two cents;
Fallout: No. The game mechanics are clunky (yes yes bring the hate) but it works, in its own charming way. I will never forget playing a one-hander with a big ol gun, blowing an enemies torso apart in one shot. In order to get attention beamdog hafta be plastic and gimmicky as fuck and even if it sells well, it will be a gigantic PR loss.
Lionheart: Love the idea. I always thought this games premise was great, but that the game mechanics were broken. And once you leave Barcelona, it becomes blatantly obvious this game was rushed. The graphics are also outdated by a mile. Basically, most everything have to be started from scratch. I dont know what kind of profit margin beamdog is pulling, but this is definately a high risk project, and if it fails, it could easily kill an up and coming game company.
Jagged alliance: I actually love this idea as well. So, why not? I believe it is a game far away from the beamdogs current fan base.
IWD2: Playing it safe... perhaps to safe. How much of the same-same can beamdogs fan base take? Its like taking your date out for champagne and strawberries at the eifel tower... for the fifth time!!! Yes yes, the game rules are slightly different... but I still suspect many of beamdogs fans would be all *yawn* and skip this title.
BG and similar, but with IWD2 or NWN or some other game engine: Same prob as with IWD2.
Arcanum: DING DING DING!!! We have a winner! Please note that people love this game - for the story. I have yet to meet anyone that says "Yeah, the game mechanics were great! The battles were so challenging!" No. The game mechanics were as broken as lionheart, and thats a fact. Everyone knows it, even though some are in denial. All attempts to rebalance the game have failed horrifically - either, technologists end up dominating, or mages end up dominating. And whatever you do, it is like the Swedish saying "Rulla bajs i pärlsocker" (google translate that if you dont speak Swedish). So, take the game, rip out the engine, insert something new preferably inspired by Pillars of Eternity or Paper Sorcerer or Shadowrun or some other rules system that works (but not NWN, because 3D edition rules are SHIT!!! And so are 4th and 5th. Yes yes bring the hate, yet again.), add a shitton of new quest and new endings to old quests and such (to keep the Arcanum vets interested) and maybe maybe update the graphics somewhat. There you go, you have a title competitive enough for new millenium, and you can start raking in some serious cash.
Alternative winner: There is so much of DnD lore that is unexplored. Rather than refurbishing an old game, make a new one, using AD&D rules, such as the fall of that multi-cultural dwarven citadel that arose shortly after the fall of Netheril, whatever that citadel was called, cant remember. Throw in some Romeo and Julia-shit, and add the "We are doomed" athmosphere, with the main quest ending with an embarrasing loss followed by a desperate retreat, and once in safety, gamer tears will fall like leaves in the autumn, while the fat lady sings.
I think you're the only One in this forum Who thinks 5th edition sucks. And AD&D has been put to rest since 2001 with Thrones of Bhaal Bring on the playable dragonborns!
If there is a new D&D IP it will be 5th edition most likely, which I think is a good thing.
I like 1e and 2e a lot, but there are plenty of games that use those rules, meanwhile the number of 5th Edition games is 0 (Sword Coast Legends doesn't count, it barely uses the rules).
Just wondering though, what don't you like about 5th? Like I don't want to start an argument or debate over which editions is the "best" or whatever, I just want to know what people don't like about 5th edition.

Dragonborn only in a Dragonlance game. If it is Forgotten Realms, they can stay the abyss out.

Get off your high horse. Dragonborn are no less feasible than tieflings or aasimar, irregardless of setting. You wanna complain about Dragonborn? Then complain about elves, gnomes, dwarves, halflings, half-elves, drow, and all the other fantasy races. Get your elitism out of my D&D!

Agree, if you want to unleash the grognard hate all you want, go to RPGCodex or No Mutants Allowed.

That said, New Dragonlance IP for the win.
