@PaulaMigrate would you possibly consider to put your installation into DLC archive and share the archive with others?

It can easily done by using the DLC Builder for Enhanced Edition v2.x games mod. It may take a little time (2-3 hours).

A more general consideration (adding to my answer above):

During the time I still played BGT in the classic games, the BWS contained a number of user-tested installs for various categories of players. You could choose the mod selection that came close to your own wishes and you had the guarantee that someone successfully installed and played it before you.

The DLC builder you mention sounds like a really great tool to provide something similar.
Instead of every user trying their luck to do a large install and getting frustrated, there could be something like a repository of DLC-builds for your choice. E.g.
#1 a tactical challenge through EET
#2 the all-quests-you can get install
#3 the basic EET install (to which you may add some mods of your choice)

    My thoughts exactly.

It's of cause EE v2.x only (but EET is too). And one needs server storage space and bandwidth. My EET DLC archive with a couple of my standard mods (NPCs, SCS, tweaks) isn't exactly small (3.2 GB), but smaller than a modded BG1EE/SoD installation.

    I propose the following experiment:
    - I will try to create a DLC from my current install, despite all its known issues
    - In case of success, I will report how big it is .
    - we can afterwards discuss of how to share it or if it's feasible at all

Just first step first. I have just downloaded DlcBuilder-4.0-beta4 and will take a look at it.

Just a note about choice 3: To add more mods you have to merge the DLC into the game first, since WeiDU won't be able to detect resources inside the DLC.

You can probably misuse modmerge for it by renaming the DLC to sod-dlc.zip first. However, afterwards it's not possible anymore to recreate the whole DLC with all the stuff that were extracted by modmerge. (It shouldn't really matter as long as you don't plan to redistribute the changed mod setup.)

Yes, the above was just some very initial brainstorming. I now understand that the DLC's should have complete playable mod selections.
The other open question will most likely be Size. Those DLC's are not easy to share, the override from my EET is 3.09 GB. I understand that will make 2 files each with max 2GB.

What is the EET basic? And do you need a DLC for it?
Run EET-main and EET_end on a clean install of BGEE and BG2EE and you have EET basic.

You can probably reduce size quite a bit by using a decent packer (e.g. 7-zip). The DLC itself is just an uncompressed zip archive.

Okay, maybe I'm first. Please consider this a Prove-of-Concept. I've created it on a Mac and tested it on Mac and Windows. It should work on Linux too.

I've stored the EET DLC on my Google drive.

    -- Download link removed by @StefanO --

it's an archive named EET-DLC.7z and contains 7 files. Compressed size is 2.5 GB (uncompressed 3GB).

The other open question will most likely be Size. Those DLC's are not easy to share, the override from my EET is 3.09 GB. I understand that will make 2 files each with max 2GB.

You can probably reduce size quite a bit by using a decent packer (e.g. 7-zip). The DLC itself is just an uncompressed zip archive.
Good to know. When I read zip, I automatically assume that it's compressed already.

who's going to be the first to put up the EET-basic dlc? :)

Okay, maybe I'm first. Please consider this a Prove-of-Concept. I've created it on a Mac and tested it on Mac and Windows. It should work on Linux too.

I've stored the EET DLC on my Google drive.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-pduu-qpNqeb2kxb3lIWDI1R3M/view?usp=sharing

it's an archive named EET-DLC.7z and contains 7 files. Compressed size is 2.5 GB (uncompressed 3GB).

It is a pretty good selection to get acquainted with EET, could be used as a starting point for *recommended selection*. Maybe a bit more than basic, but that depends to a large extend on what choices the player makes in the game.

I hate to be a wet blanket, but I assume the EET DLC will contain all the content for BGEE and SoD. Is that correct? Is Beamdog going to be cool with that?

The other open question will most likely be Size. Those DLC's are not easy to share, the override from my EET is 3.09 GB. I understand that will make 2 files each with max 2GB.

You can probably reduce size quite a bit by using a decent packer (e.g. 7-zip). The DLC itself is just an uncompressed zip archive.
Good to know. When I read zip, I automatically assume that it's compressed already.
    The experiment failed.
I got this in the end

From the description of the DLC tool I understand that only modded files are inckuded and that you need the same game and version in orfer to use it. It does not contain an illegal copy of SoD. More or less it's override plus some other files that a modded game has changed.

Yes, but for finished EET the whole BG1+SoD content is in "override" of the BGII:EE game? (I don't know anything about how this DLC tool works, just pointing out that your answer is no contradiction to what @AstroBryGuy said.)

Yeah, distributing mods this way is one thing, but distributing assets from BGEE and SoD to people who have not bought them, when the stated intent of EET is crystal clear that you must have all three games in order to install it, is kind of not cool.
I agree with both of you. If you don't have all games it's not cool to use the EET-DLC.

I will take down the link. Perhaps @JuliusBorisov can enlighten us.

Without knowing more about "CVMOVIE.BIF" mentioned in the log (which I can't find in my unmodded games) I can only guess. There might be something wrong with the Biff or the references in the chitin.key. Or maybe there isn't enough free space available. It's also possible that the requested files are over Weidu's size limit of 16MB and can therefore not be extracted.

It looks like the last is the issue here, 16MB limit, there is a mve file with 17,1MB in that biff.
What puzzles me, that all the movies in that biff also exist again as wbm files. Isn't that redundant in some way? Which ones would EET use in the end?
Using a biff in EET seems outdated to me. Maybe it should only be used if the mod is installed on old game?

As I understand how EET works, it takes the game content of BGEE and SoD and converts it into a mod that is installed on BG2EE. So, all the game content of BGEE & SoD would be in the BG2EE override when the DLC tool is run. Assuming this is true, the EET DLC contains the game content of BGEE and SoD.

Yes, this is prohibited. Under the EULA, "the Software may not be modified, reverse-engineered, or de-compiled in any manner through current or future available technologies."

Then any mods are prohibited too. Are you really sure this argument applies to self packed DLCs? Prohibited due to a missing license I can understand, but ...

Sorry to interrupt, but I'd like to clarify Sandrah question to the end (someone might be interested too). Here is the answer from Roxanna (the author) :

    - you do a megamod EET installation including Sandrah. You meet Sandrah after you left Candlekeep but decide not to take her along. Sandrah will wait a short while just in case you change your mind. She will be gone for good as soon as you reach FAI or Nashkel. End.

    - you will play the game just as if the Sandrah Saga would not be installed at all.

    - the new areas added by the Sandrah mod will not appear on your worldmap or be otherwise accessible. If you move there via console commands, there will not be much going on without the Sandrah quests etc.

    - the game will end with your decision at ToB, there will be no indication for the further game parts added by Sandrah Saga.

    - if you start a completely new game with the same installation and decide to take her along this time, everything will change.

    You will have

    - the preview scene in Candlekeep you already mentioned

    - the large BP-worldmap throughout the game as this is forced by the installation and there is no way to know that you will not need it later on

    - the initial extended Imoen talk in which you can change Imoen's class to mage ot mage/thief right for your initial meeting. Imoen will appear as you have chosen her, Sandrah or no Sandrah.

    - you will meet Haiass, the wolf companion, when you reach the outside of FAI. You can take him along or not, just as you like. He will be an animal companion but you never will learn about his true nature.

In case you initially take Sandrah but decide to kick her out later, you may find remnants of the mod, depending on where/when/under what circumstances you kicked her out. Those should be logical from whatever had happened with her up to that point.

This is my impression as well, although I have skipped my non-Sandrah playthrough after the goons in Baldur's Gate poisoned my party and I didn't want to play that quest once again. So I can only speak for what happened, resp. not happened up to then.
The only thing I found were one or two items or loot that belonged to the mod but had no further use without her corresponding quest. Not something gamebreaking. And not something unique to Sandrah, there are other items you find even when you don't have the NPC needing it in the party.

so do I need sandrah in my party most of the time or if I kick her out temporary or she's dead for awhile until i can revive her could I potentially miss out on an important quest, dialogue, etc?

I can't really answer this, because of the mass of events and clues and dialogues I have encountered. It's hard to tell what is important and what not. There are many events that obviously play a role much later. It looks like a big puzzle where everything has its part and where you need enough parts to see the picture. Not sure if you need all parts or just a sufficient amount.
There may be events that just make the story clearer and others that provide items or set globals you need later, but I've no idea which event belongs to which category. I just simply keep her all the time. Besides her quests and banters, she's also a useful cleric after all.

    From Read_me file:

Most important of all: Have Sandrah in your party when you face Sarevok! (Unless you do not want her in the following parts.) N.B. to get the most of her many interactions, quests and abilities you may best keep her all the time anyway.

Maybe the mod's own readme is not the best reference. Wouldn't any modder say that about her mod?

Still, in this case it's really hard to say. I just remember an example where the strange fighter at the Firewine Bridge gave her one third of the item she requires for her main quest. How are you supposed to know that? What happens if she's not with you during that encounter?
