This change is a part of the ticket "NPC organizations should wear consistent uniforms" (eg., the scholars and staff at Candlekeep, Members of the Flaming Fist in the Baldur's Gate, Gorion's colors should be heroic - Gorion's robe is dark with light trim, and a green gem on his belt and amulet). It's based on PnP sources.
@JuliusBorisov once again I missed that information. But is that a user-submitted ticket or an internal ticket? I'm curious at the wording because consistent colouring and changing the colouring to reflect PnP sources is something different in my opinion.
@Adul I've been playing since BG first came out (I still have the original 5 cds somewhere), the irony is that I always trusted the item description and believed that I was getting double apr. To not only learn that oils are actually much less useful than I thought all these years, but then to have them fixed and then yanked away is INCREDIBLY frustrating.
I have had a look at the changes to the appearance of NPCs in Candlekeep. Some will probably like it as it is slightly more "ornate" but they do not appeal to me, neither the changes to the tutors or Gorion. This kind of tinkering changes the atmosphere and artistic presentation of the game and its characters in a way that isn't just bug fixing but starts to tell a different story. For example Gorion now looks more pompous and flamboyant compared to his more humble and plain appearance from before. I honestly don't see the benefit and it seems slightly disrespectful of the source material (which in my view is the original game which itself was an interpretation of DnD that was not intended to be a carbon copy). I'm sorry if that sounds contraversial as I do greatly appreciate the work beamdog is doing for this game. But I would like to appeal to keeping the game consistent with its original presentation as much as possible after bugs are addressed.
One has to remember that Gorion was in secret mission to get his ward to savety. Looking more pompous only draws a dart board on his back. Not the best way of traveling incognito I'd wager. But then again... we all know how that ended up.
Truth be told, the only instance which I'd like to see new uniformed looks on NPC's is when it involves priesthood. Given that clerics should be clad within at least some degree of their deity's sacred colors. Like followers of Ghaunadaur favoring dark green/lilac clothings for example. Especially when they are on temple duty.
Of course, there must be a certain level of diversity remaining still. Like different color shades, different kind of clothes/armor and especially different skin or hair colors. Don't know about others, but I for one don't want a second coming of the Clone Wars.
Fixed in version 2.5.16.4. All uniforms, with the exception of the Flaming Fist, have been removed completely. Flaming Fist remains to match SoD.
Now the note specifically mentioned uniforms, but didn't go into whether singular characters like Gorion, Drizzt, etc. have been restored to their original appearances. So I guess that's still in a bit of a limbo state for now.
As for the Flaming Fist uniforms, I personally don't find them appealing, and I philosophically disagree with the decision that SoD canon overrides original BG1 canon in this instance—SoD should be expanding on the BG1 canon, not changing it retroactively. Still, I find it much less problematic than for example giving all "evil" NPCs an Iron Throne uniform, or making a clean distinction between which bandits are part of the Black Talon/Chill alliance and which aren't.
So in my opinion, this reversion is good news, but doesn't quite go far enough.
The reversion is full (so they all look in 2.5 as they looked in 2.3), except for the Flaming Fist members (you can always check in SoD how they look).
Is there any info on the ETA of the update having been released in a form so I can continue my save game on SoD?
If you don't want to wait, you could try to run your save in SoD v2.3. You might run into some issues, but generally the IE games are very lenient in terms of savegame compatibility between different games and versions.
All issues are classified into several categories, with "A" and "B" being serious and severe bugs/features, where "C" - minor issues. The focus of the team during this whole 2.5 patch process is "A" and "B" issues.
I hope Internal report #37141 has got an high category since it freezes the game.

That's too bad. I really like Taurgosz Khosann's new look.
He looks like the Taurgosz Khosann art from Gold & Glory (1992) and the AD&D trading cards: black armor, red trim.
The v2.3 version has silver armor, gold and green trim. He doesn't look like Tenhammer; he's just a random mook. Might as well change his name back to "Taugosz".
The proverb "you can't make everyone happy" isn't necessarily true in this instance. If it were an optional feature, you could come very close to making everyone happy.
I've noticed that in this beta, I can no longer quick save or quick load while a container is open, while I believe it was possible in v2.3 and earlier. Is this change intentional? If not, I could write up a bug report.

In SoD's case, the uniforms were more of a necessity than a whim, as otherwise it was nearly impossible to quickly assess what was going on the battlefield.

Pressing the sidebar icon works, hotkey (Q) does not. As usual, please report if it looks like an issue.

Sorry, I'm also a little bit confused about this ticket. It's been marked as dupe, with two other tickets linked as dupes, one internal and one public. I can't look at the internal ticket, but I've taken a look at the public one that was linked, and that one doesn't seem like it would be the same issue, as far as I can tell. Both issues concern the camera, but one is specifically about the camera movement associated with starting dialog, while the other one doesn't seem to be so. Could someone check and see if there was maybe an oversight?
Yes it's correct, but I'll link it to another internal report instead - there are a number with similar symptoms depending what the previous action was. 36661: Camera position should not get locked after dialog with scrolling out of bounds disabled

@JuliusBorisov or @Balquo - Does the reversion include Drizzt? I much prefer the Drizzt's colors in BGEE (which match his appearance in FR novels and artwork) as opposed to the BG1 "Blue Drizzt".
BG1 Blue Drizzt:
BGEE v2.5 Drizzt:
If you want to back out the re-colorization for mooks, fine. But please consider keeping the canon-colors for prominent FR NPCs (e.g., Drizzt, Cadderly Bonaduce, Taurgosz Khosann, etc..).

I'm really glad with Beamdog and their work, please, recapacite about this.

- plate armor that doesn't look metallic at all
- conspicuously uniformed assassins
Thanks
