The situation was explosive for a long time with the lack of fixes and the very poor communication. Julius tries to disarm the situation with his great post and then you put everything on fire again with the ban and your answer. Good job...
He may have exagerate with the game being literally unplayable but I don't see any insults in his posts (unless you are no longer alowed to critisize Beamdog). There are bugs in the game and they are still not fixed after years. These are facts and you can't deny that.
This forum seems to have turn to a place where you can only say how great Beamdog is and how well they manage the EEs... I think I'm out of here.
I just want a meaty patch 2.6 to hit us already. Then more staff can be appointed to work on NwN:EE fulltime.
Beamdog promised to remake all of its models and textures after all. And this process desperately needs far more employees than Beamdog was previously willing to deploy for this project of theirs.
That... and economically speaking I really don't see a point to work on the IE's beyond patch 2.6 anymore. WotC put a massive lock on any future DLC's for them. Meaning no additional income is to be expected from these products. Other than what their console ports may possibly reel in, I mean. But beyond that? Any mobile or desktop player which still doesn't own the IE:EE's would most likely wait for another 60+% sales drop. Which nowadays seems to happen once every other month, or so.
Let me make a quick comment about moderation as I'm really tired of seeing this misunderstanding about how it works.
A single comment won't get you banished unless it's promoting piracy or is a spam post. Even posts that break site rules are discussed by the moderation team before being edited or removed. And we will contact the post's author before we do it ourselves to explain why that post is breaking the site rules and give him/her a chance to change it before we do.
So when you see someone banished it is often because of comments made in multiple threads and it will only happen after multiple warnings. The moderation team does not mind if you're bashing Beamdog or praising it. The language you use though is another matter. This site does have an age rating and language that breaks that rating is breaking the site rules. We have plenty of users who have been bashing Beamdog for years and are still members of this community to prove it. So don't think you can point to a single post ans say THIS is why this user was banished.
Also don't think you can point to moderator A or B and say that that moderator banished someone. Banishing is a team decision. Even if moderator A is the one who actually pushes the button, it was done after discussing the poster posting history, past violations and attempting contact with the one banished.
Finally we won't discuss the reasons anyone is banished. that is considered a private matter and won't be disclosed.
Whenever a thread is moderators patting themselves on the back for their own moderation policy and forbearance there is a problem. That you choose to create this environment you can't blame people for not feeling welcome to express any opinion that is counter to your PR message and automatically having a Moderator (in this case Tresset) jumping in and stirring the pot to keep pushing a poster who is already flaming even further.
Congrats, deescalation is another yet another thing that is terrible about Beamdog's official communication representation.
I feel compelled to chip in about the moderation process, and I hope this will help the thread move on instead of derailing it:
I've honestly lost track of the number of times non-moderators have defended moderator policy since I first joined the moderation team a few years ago--we ain't the only folks with a high opinion of this community. I would find it very odd if a moderation team on a forum would not defend their policy. We defend the policy because we believe in it, and we believe in it because we've been steadily refining it over time.
The interesting thing I've learned about moderation is that it usually isn't about banning the "bad guys"; it's about encouraging people to be better citizens. Multiple folks in this thread have received warnings and messages from the moderation team about how better to follow the Site Rules, and yet those folks have not been banned. The heartening thing is that the overwhelming majority of forumites actually live up to those high standards.
I mean, compare this community today to what it was when it first began, and compare that to the average gaming community. Most gaming fora are pretty toxic for whatever reason, and toxic elements have been fading from this forum every year. This is the only place I know of on the Internet where anonymous strangers feel so incredibly safe here that they're willing to open up about subjects as personal and as sensitive as being abused as a child because they know they will receive nothing but love and support here (that person is a dear friend of mine).
Not every discussion is warm and fuzzy and cuddly, unfortunately, but that's how welcoming this forum can be. Of course we're proud of that.

So if there is a poster who I happen to disagree with, I am not allowed to express my own opinion or arguments because that would be considered "stirring the pot"?
I am sorry you feel that way, but things do not work that way on this site. This is a round table forum and, so long as no rules are being broken, all site users are allowed to state their opinions on things, including moderators. If users are allowed to criticize Beamdog then other users are also allowed to stand up for Beamdog.
For the record, I am not under orders from Beamdog to support any kind of supposed "PR message" or anything like that. I also had no intent to stir any pot. I simply wished to make my thoughts known, and I have just as much right to do that as anyone else here.
Now then, since the moderators have asked that this thread get back on topic, don't be surprised if further off-topic comments are (re)moved.
4) Wizards of the Coast has nothing to cross promote with a new Planescape game like they have with all their recent releases:
Lords of Waterdeep and Tales from Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation are board games, with the latter also being a heavily promoted module.
Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms pretty much cross references characters from other D&D products.
Baldur's Gate 3 is tied to Decent in Avernus and the game allegedly takes place after that module.
They even tried cross referencing the EEs with the ill-fated dice, camera, action pack.
So with no way to use it to sell copies of another product, they put the title on indefinite hold until maybe they do decide to do a new Planescape 5e setting.
Question: NwN EE - When will the "missing" al_wt_* sounds be restored to NwN EE. Either that or make it so that the ambient folder in the Documents/Neverwinter Nights folder is actually referenced. Example both rain sounds (al_wt_rainlight1.wav and al_wt_rainhard1.wav) are currently silent both in game and in the sound properties. Now I happen to have diamond and so could try copying these over to the Ambient folder but they still remain silent.
Technical NWN:EE question: As of the latest Development branch, neither the config debug UI nor settings.tml have "always-reset-encounter-spawns" as a visible setting that the player may toggle on or off. Does this mean that the game will always reset the CR (Challenge Rating) of enemies spawned based on the level of the character by default? Or, was this simply overlooked? Thank you for reading, and happy gaming to all?

That's one of the settings that has not yet migrated to tml. So just overlooked. Thanks for letting us know.
Abandoning a platform or cancelling a patch would reflect really badly on them as a company and the resulting backlash from that would be worse than before. It's not really something a small company can afford to do. So I believe the patch will come eventually...When however is the big question and the longer we have to wait the more annoyed people will be.
But even angry and critical feedback is good imo.. Silence and indifference is what you have to be afraid of.. When people stop logging on or caring altogether.. That's when you're in trouble.
Is Beamdog still committed to overhauling the UI for NWN: EE? The UI never was the strongest point of NWN visually. When the graphics improve, the GUI will probably look even more dated on top.
I was reading the beamdog blog about the 2.6 BG2EE/IWDEE update and it mentions 64-bit builds - does that mean specifically that all EE games will be moving to 64-bit builds on windows - 64-bit exe's, or is it just referring to Android and other platforms?
I would like to see a modern version of Shattered Steel made by beamdog, good to see that the company is still alive and active, I really want to see the new materials.
I have a question regarding the new Infinity engine game update, will it be updated following the console version? or will keep the same interface and current gameplay mechanics?
It might, but that doesn't help if he wants Tyrants of the Moonsea from Beamdog. Some people don't want to use Steam, and others like me prefer to have games outside of Steam when possible.
It's true that you can use those Steam keys and get Tyrants of the Moonsea from the Steam store afterward, but that means you'll lack it in the Beamdog client. If you use Beamdog it's likely you don't want to do it this way.
Indeed great, as it is backported to the pc version.
Good...but how big is the release gap between the console version and the PC update going to be?
If we get the console version first, then the console gets a looong and intensive hotfixing tango and suddenly we have 2020 and there is still no definitive announcement of the PC update aside from "Hopefully soon"...then people might get angry.
It would make beyond obvious which consumers are the utmost priority and which ones are old news.

By all means, continue your criticism of Beamdog. It is not, and has never been against site rules.

*Posters ask user to calm to down and watch the language of their posts*
*User then goes on even longer rants, directly attacking other users*
*User gets banned*
"Oh man, why'd you ban user? Its not like he was attacking anyone. This forum is so hostile!"
Yeah, the forum that banned an aggressive user is the "hostile" one.
Congrats, deescalation is another yet another thing that is terrible about Beamdog's official communication representation.

Are we getting a blog entry in August or any new information soon?
Yes, the plan is to publish a blog entry about the renderer till the end of August.

I second themazingness's question.
I have NWN:EE through Beamdog, not through Steam, and I'd like a chance to play the new premium module as well.
It might, but that doesn't help if he wants Tyrants of the Moonsea from Beamdog. Some people don't want to use Steam, and others like me prefer to have games outside of Steam when possible.

Trent shares about pathfinding issues and how they were fixed in the console version.

Hopefully that isn't the case.
