Did you know that Dread wolves are undead? And puny, level 1 undead at that, despite their 33 HP and 15 THAC0.
They were supposed to be 5 HD undead abominations that regenerate like trolls at 3 HP per round unless harmed by fire or acid, or until it hit negative hitpoints equal to its HP (-33), to cause disease with their bites that dealt 1 HP damage per hour until death, and to straight up keep fighting until it hit -10 HP, before pausing to regenerate up to 0 HP again.
Well, that's how Dread Wolves are implemented in SoD and they're not that bad, actually.
Incidentally, in terms of size Firkraag might seem young, but in terms of stats, with -11 AC, level 4 spells (though he should also get three priest spells), 23 Hitdice and 65% MR, he's very much in the "Great Wyrm" category at 1,200+ years.
In fact, so many of the dragons you face are apparently Great Wyrm age, by the end of the trilogy the age of all your party's murders added together probably adds up to more years than all known human history.
Here lies the Great Wyrm Firkraag.
Born: 1,300 years ago Died: 10 minutes after encountering the PCs
I had a component made on the old Auril's Bane mod for IWD1. True Dragon Icasarcht. Made her an ancient dragon in stats and HPs. Obviously I couldn't up her size.
Maybe I should make some CREs for all dragons in BG games, in accordance with their age...
OTOH, it might be possible that Firkraag was born with a genetic deficiency (he was a midget).

I wouldn't trust his stats as he may quite possibly be a 3rd edition adaptation of a red dragon (In 3E an adult red dragon would be around 23hd and 180 hps).
Also, judging from his dialogue lines he doesn't seem *that* old or legendary for a great wyrm, but rather an ambitous adult or young adult.
The only dragon I would call great wyrm is Adalon, who seems to remember the very beginings of Ust Natha and even the drow treat her as if she were some sort of myth.

Not my fault he never learned to detect traps placed in his full view in all those 1300 years...

Well, according to the AD&D monster manual, the base stats of red dragon are:
15 Hit Dice (younger ages below juveniles give negative Hitdice, above juvenile gives bonus hitdice, Great Wyrms get +8, or 23.) -3 AC (Again, Great Wyrms get -8: -11 AC) MR: 30% at Young Adult, +5% per age range above that, up to 65%)
And Great Wyrms get, specifically, up to level 4 arcane spells. Firkraag casts Polymorph Self on top of Fire Shield etc, meaning he's at least "Wyrm" age.
Great Wyrms also have saves the same as an 18th level Fighter: 3/5/4/4/6 - just like Firkraag.
Finally, there's Dragon Fear, and the save penalties vary by age. Great Wyrms, and only Great Wyrms, get a -4 save penalty, again, just like Firkraag.
All in all, a pretty good AD&D "Great Wyrm" stat line.
The big let down is that as a red dragon, Firkraag should have had two claw attacks at 1D10 each, and a bite attack at 3D10, rather than his rather piddly 1D12 claw. Someone want to mod him so he's dual wielding a 3D10 jaw?
He also should have had 24, not 25, strength, since Great Wyrms add 12 to damage, not 14.

I see your point that Firkraag is as strong as a great wyrm, but I stand by the fact that he doesn't sound or look like one.
In Neverwinter Nights, there are codewords in nwnplayer.ini that correspond to how many chapters of the game you've unlocked. The Prelude of the OC's codeword is "rangersandhamsters," while Chapter 1's codeword is "gnomelover".
In Durlag's Tower, in the room with the giant wyrm skeleton, where you fight the Greater Wyverns, there are statues of heroes that you can call for backup.
Of course you already knew that, but did you know one of those heroes, Tarnor, is a Half-Dwarf? I'm pretty sure he's the only one in BG/IWD.
EDIT: I looked at the Forgotten Realms wiki and apparently Daeros Dragonspear, the builder of Dragonspear Castle, is also a Half-Dwarf. I can't remember if that fact is mentioned in SoD but I'll verify when I replay it (I'm currently half way through BG1).
Must be strange to be 1300 years old and battle a bunch of young adventurers. Like "give me a break, you guys weren't even born the last time I yawned!"
In the original games, without patches, it was possible to pickpocket items that were supposed to be available only when you killed the critter in question. You could pickpocket Adalon's blood, Firkraag's scales, or even Ihtafeer's and Draconis' heads.

The best part was Ihtafeer was somehow still alive without her head! Apparently rakshasa's brains are elsewhere...
My pickpocket skill is that good. "Hey, look over there!", (slices head off while back is turned). "No worries, it's just a flesh wound!".
A lot more work goes into moderating than you normally see. Moderators have their own separate discussions about the Site Rules and other issues. There are over 2,400 discussions dedicated strictly to moderating the forum--more than the entire Siege of Dragonspear or Icewind Dale sections, and almost as much as the Baldur's Gate, General Modding, and Off-topic sections.

I'm still trying to imagine how you can pickpocket someone's head... or blood...
Did you know that you can avoid the death script when killing Aran Linvail (and Renal Bloodscalp)? Charm Renal Bloodscalp and make him attack his fellow thieves, wait them to turn hostile, go outside, Sanctuary, go inside, wait, loot Boots Of Speed, go to Aran Linvail and just casually murder him. This however sadly will not net you the Ring of Djinni Summoning. Oh yeah and don't go back upstairs without Sanctuary, unless you want to meet the most powerful being in whole Faerün.
Did you know that if you're quick about it, you can get into Sarevok's coronation without the Flaming Fist guard talking to you to ask for invitations?
No need to worry though, while there may be doppelgangers and a violent seven foot sociopath attacking everyone with a greatsword that Flaming Fist guy will still keep going to ask you about those invitations, even mid battle. Professionalism.

While you probably know that your familiar can pick party members' pockets, enjoying their infinite weight capacity (but try to stick to non-thief party members, since thieves give a penalty to pick pockets)... Did you know it could pickpocket your own gold this way, actually increasing your total party funds by a few GP at a time?
Did you know that the Ducal Palace in Siege of Dragonspear has a lot of foot traffic?
Specifically, two nobles and a Flaming Fist mercenary enter and leave the map periodically.
While the nobles aren't interesting, the mercenary is a new mercenary each time, and can be pick pocketed for a potion of healing, and a RNDPTN1 (aka random potion loot), for infinite potions of Fire Resistance, Agility, Fortitude, and Antidote.
Did you know that Viconia is considered to be quite attractive by surfacer standards?
Did you know that this is because Drow have an ongoing eugenics program specifically for this purpose?
Apparently the more attractive you are, the more likely people are to overlook your widespread villainy and invite you to parties.
Also noteworthy is that Viconia's BG2 portrait shows her to have dark blue eyes, suggesting some surface elf ancestry, and that she has blonde streaks in her hair, a sign of advancing age, which means she's probably the oldest character in the NPC roster of all three games by several centuries.
Did you know that the Sorcerous Sundries in Siege of Dragonspear has an attempted break in?
CHARNAME may not, as it's entirely possible for them to walk down the stairs with the potion case before the robbery even begins, but they will still be free to tell the quest giver that they thwarted a robbery, receiving 750 Exp and an amulet for walking up and down a flight of stairs.

It has no tolerance for such a fowl deed.
I'd turn hostile too.

The Summon Dark Planetar spell actually summons a Fallen Planetar, not a "Dark" Planetar.
