Hmm.. speaking only sw I have different experiences in my company. We can quite well determine how long imllementation and QA takes. All you need is a good setup of autotesters from sw side and a good functional team to qualify the specs. I'd rather state that proper review of the functional requirements and defining all user stories is the biggest time consuming portion.
I wonder how many times a day devs must resist the urge to slip away some tidbits about SoD. And how painful it must be for them to fight with this urge
I never thought I would say this but I am starting to loose interest in this game ... The lack of information and the delay is really trying my patience.

I know exactly what you mean.
Half year has passed and we still know almost nothing. Official word on the release date. "Early 2016"
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this should mean that game will be released sometime in first quarter of the year. And given that there was no official announcement that game should be released next month, I'm starting to doubt about accuracy of the information.
Early 2016 can still be Q2. A blog update once per month would be nice at least. Like hey we started QA and found this weird bug to fix (insert undesired spell effect on using colour spray). Something that is in the base game already such that it is no spoiler for SoD content and adding some screenshots that hide the interface and npc names but give a lovely backdrop. At least something....
Oh boy. I've had so many other things to do that I haven't really followed this for a long time now. But having come back just now to check progress, it does seem astonishing that nothing at all has happened for months.
Two possibilities immediately spring to mind:
1) Something is badly wrong with the project. Most likely, it has to do with finances. 2) The finished product is going to be much more ambitious than they've let us on, so far.
One thing's for sure: I'm giving SoD a wide berth at launch. If after all this time Beamdog still can't handle a basic pre-release information timeline, their patch cycle is going to be ridiculous.
Hey, there're people who don't lose interest with time passing, I'm one of those.
To me, my interest is actually increasing as each passing day in 2016 brings the release closer.
There's nothing wrong with the project. It has passed the content complete phase, thus all the finances are there already. In fact, I'm sure they're already gathering finances for a project after SoD.
The testing stage started on January, 4, after the festive period ended. So it's only 20 (twenty) days. And if we're looking at working days, it's only 15 of them. Not months and months without an information.
They said in their interview to the Dragon+ magazine that the project indeed became MUCH more than previously planned. And from the Trent's tweets it's obvious the engine has been improved drastically.
This was the reason the work took a lot of months till December, 2015. And by not telling details they want us to be surprised when we see the finished product, they want it to go beyond expectations.
But I don't see any, even slight, sign to loose interest or to loose patience in 2016. The testing is going on, it's behind the closed doors. But "early 2016", as defined in the Dragon+ magazine, is not long. We have a lot less time to wait than we have already waited.
@typo_tilly: Pillars of Eternity was very good until I hit the experience cap very early in Act III (or Chapter III, or whatever). I lost all interest instantly and haven't gone back to it since. What a shame. A third of the way (presumably) still to go, but nothing for the characters to do.
Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear release date for Android: 22 March 2016
Now, the question is whether you believe the site or not. But at least it's the first EVER place to give a certain date. Also, I believe the release date for PC and other platforms will be the same.
0% of players got those achievements, so all of them are SoD-related.
The one that especially interests me is "Godlike" - is it about CHARNAME, or more about dealing/getting acquainted with/becoming an ally of Caelar Argent?

A word is forming... Yes... It will tell us when the game will be released along with information...

Also, I would like to remind that gamepressure.com was one of the first sites to announce that SoD was expected in 2016, not 2015 (in October, 2015): https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/comment/682302/#Comment_682302
Personally, with this news I will be thinking that March, 22, is the earliest we can get the release.
The second news.
In September, 2015 BGEE on Steam got 3 achievements:
Dragon Slayer- Awoke and defeated the green dragon
Dark Places - Entered the caverns beneath Dragonspear Castle
And another one with a hidden name and description.
But now it has 5 achievements:
Loremaster
Have a Lore skill of 100 or more.
Untouchable
Have an Armor Class of -15 or lower.
Godlike
Dark Places
Dragon Slayer

http://kioskgames.blogspot.bg/ clearly states that the release date of Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear is 22 March 2016 as well.
Here's the countdown to this date: http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/to?p0=1440&year=2016&month=3&day=22&hour=0&min=0&sec=0, if someone needs it
Trust me.. I'm a stick Pole
But this particular date, March, 22, on two different gaming sites, lets me think that there's no smoke without fire.
If we're indeed only 56 days from the release date, how many days are left till the preordering begins badges appear?
I think I'm the only one wanting a bug free release over a quick release.
...
Actually I want both. But bug free is more importanp
