Nah no mummy. I couldn't even begin to propose a mummy character. Its not something I could ever wrap my head around anyways.
Having very little experience designing characters I thought awhile about what I wanted out of it. Its one of those things you only get one shot at so I figured thinking about it probably was worthwhile. So its something I took time to consider, though not to the point of rummaging through tomes for research. Well not excessively anyways
I proposed 3 characters and gave an order of preference for them, with the obvious expectation that only one would be chosen.
So the first thing I was looking to do was to propose at least one character that represented an underrepresented classes/class combination, alignment, or playable race in the series (or a combination of the above). While I won't say any specifics I will say that certain races in the BG series are underrepresented as a whole but are also underrepresented as far as alignments go. So you might see a lot of one particular race but those NPC's (playable and non-playable) that you do encounter are frequently of one particular alignment (its a bigger issue I think when it comes to the good vs evil axis).
Part of the reason for wanting to do this was because it was important to me that they could be later modded in to be playable characters. Even given that two of these characters will probably be modded in by me at some point after release. So no variations I'm afraid on the thief/mage.
I also was working under the assumption that any character would have maybe a line or two or dialogue to work with. So with that in mind I gave two of the proposals last names that either connected them with an existing family in D&D lore or one seen previously in one of the other infinity engine games. Its a very basic thing that in a way gives them more history (while being simple).
Having only a vague notion about where the game would be set (I'm like the rest of you all I know is from publicly released info) I also had to keep some things rather broad as far as where they might be found. For instance while we have seen images of Baldur's Gate being spruced up I don't know the extent to which you can explore the city, or if what we have seen has been largely just a cutscene. So I tried to propose characters that made sense for the setting (which in my head I figured would be maybe Baldur's Gate and the areas north-east/north of it like Boarskyr Bridge and Dragonspear Castle).
Anyways, I guess the most important thing to take away from this exceedingly long post is that I tried to ensure the character was interesting (at least on a conceptual level).
Purple suit, awesome jungle lair, nifty skull ring.. I'm in! Of course, I don't get to know what evil lurks in the hearts of men like The Shadow, but I do get to Slam Evil! so that's something. Plus, cliffhanger at the end of every episode. Score!
I'm guessing we're not going to see too much of of any old areas. You'll likely start in or around the palace of course. But I'm guessing before long you'll be whisked away to a new location. Is what's his name, B something, going to be involved? You know, thingy? Him? Yeah?
Obviously Jan or adopted gnome Aerie (a side of her that should really be developed and had more fun with), we don't meet until later, unfortunately.
Quayle... probably best to just leave him out altogether and let everyone else decide whether that really is him who appears much older, although hardly any time at all has passed, later on due to some bizaar accident that sent him back in time or something where he was rescued by the Sigil Troupe.
Tiax... Maybe we could see him being involved in some kind of teleport accident that gets him to Amn?
Or even just a dragon discipline. But that doesnt fit your under appreciated races, unless it is an evil male elf as there are none of those period. Even evil half elves.
You know, since your creativity guides the characters and things we interact with.
What you call "creativity", many of my colleagues call "Andrew's ****ing bull**** impossible to program stupid-*** ***damn 'duh I didn't know I'm just a writer' like that's an excuse ****ing ****ing ***damn piece of **** ****ing crap stupid ideas".
That said, I wouldn't be surprised if CHARNAME encountered a shorty or two hanging around on their journey through Adventure Y.

Don't let their limited abilities hold you back. Create! Give us something new to experience and most of all.

Can you or can you not confirm your snake monster?
