I've never really had a problem with the infinity engine UI. I wonder what they're doing to it.
This. I sure wish they would stop 'enhancing' the gui and just write stories. You'll love the next book -- we spent a year making sure the paper was just right.

But in this scenario, the superior paper will also likely get backported to the first and second books. And those are the books that everyone loves reading again and again.

This is all making the assumption that the new gui is even for adventure Y... Who knows, the dev team may have taken the plunge into IWD2:EE, PT:EE, or something else...
This year, the eagerly anticipated Adventure Y will finally navigate the dark underground caverns of development and venture out into the Sword Coast. We’ve mentioned before that Adventure Y will be an addition to the Baldur’s Gate line using the Infinity engine, bridging the gap between Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition. Keep an eye on the Beamblog in late spring for announcements regarding the content and release date of Adventure Y. We have an exciting release planned for this game, something bigger than we’ve ever done before.
So, an "addition to the BG line" and "in late spring"."
"Trent laid down the basis for the Adventure Y campaign. I am directing Adventure Y, and in doing so provide oversight for game plot and text. Andrew and Amber are the lead writers. Liam has done some writing for Adventure Y, but he's not a full time writer on the project and has other responsibilities.
Most of the development team has contributed to the game text in some way, and after release I'm sure they'll come by to tell you about all the easter eggs they hid in the game."
"We had a lot of talks about how big is too big, how small is too small, and in the end I think people will be pleased with the direction we took.
Early on we had discussions about how we would make it work if you can gain a couple more levels than SoA expects. We've put in some work on that front and we're predicting it won't be an issue.
As for the size of the adventure, Adventure Y has shaped up to be larger than ToTSC but not quite the size of ToB.
From a chronological perspective it happens over a quite limited period of time, so it should fit in nicely with the other games."
5. Trent talking again about the domain buying habit after my idea that the main quest in the Adventure Y will be the Siege of the Dragonspear Castle - the same thing happened with the IWDEE domain.
8. @elminster won the right to create a character, he proposed three options, and they accepted his first offering. At least, I think that's how it went down.
I think saw somewhere too than depending on the success of Adventure Y they may also make a story to bridge SoA and ToB
I would love for that to happen but isn't the gap between the end of SoA and the start of ToB a couple of days, as opposed to the 5 or 6 months between BG1 and BG2?
Looking at several comments across the thread here and there that imply the discussion in the thread doesn't give any actual facts, I would like to mention the following.
My initial idea about the thread was that all and every bit of news about the Adventure Y would be covered in one thread. I thought the Devs would give information in small portions so that people, myself included, could combine it and discuss in one place.
If you look at the OP, this is what I wrote then: "Now with BG2:EE released and we all know about Hexxat at last it’s time to anticipate something new. So I think the discussion about the “Adventure Y” is going to be the next hit. There’ve been several threads on this forum about this topic but I will try to gather EVERY piece of information and update it when something new is known."
The thread was started in December, 2013. Through all the subsequent months we indeed got a lot of hints and very few actual official confirmations for these or those ideas.
People like to discuss things, they like to joke around. It's completely fine. If there were no jokes, our life would be much bleaker and more dull.
I've now added the word "unofficial" into the thread title now so that everyone could perfectly see that this discussion is a coverage of all the unofficial information available about the Adventure Y. It has one reason actually: there has been no announcement of the game yet.
So, I guess we will continue to share our guesses here, our findings and our jokes.

Phillip Daigle indeed said: "If Adventure Y is a success I would like to do a SoA->ToB expansion. This isn't a guarantee or promise, but rather something I'd personally like to do."
As for the period between BG1 and BG2, it's one year.
According to @elminster : "BG1 starts on the 1st of Mirtul, 1368. BG2 SoA starts on the 1st of Mirtul, 1369. This means that BG1 (and adventure Y) is supposed to take a year (according to the games chronology).
Given that the Bhaalspawn crisis is supposed to be over in 1369 I think if anything there is more leeway in terms of having a game set between the two games, compared to having it set between Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal."
8. @elminster won the right to create a character, he proposed three options, and they accepted his first offering. At least, I think that's how it went down.
@bengoshi Apologies. What I really meant was "I just read through 600+ posts for 7 posts worth of information related to the topic" - The signal to noise ratio on the thread is pretty bad
I appreciate the effort to provide a place to discuss what little info is actually around, and I know we're a pretty laid back chatty community in general here, but using this thread to keep track of developments is becoming cumbersome due to the sheer number of off topic posts.
When I look at the forum page and see "new posts in this thread", I now have to conclude that there may be no new information in the thread, instead there may be many (hundreds) of posts of general shenannigans =D
I'll keep checking it, it's far easier than tracking all potential sources of information myself. I really do appreciate the effort it takes to do something like this thread, and thanks to everyone who finds the info and posts it.
or alternatively, a straight on topic thread, where only the informative posts from this one are put! that should be easy enough for any avid reader of the original one. hell, even I could do that!

Good thing there were a few interesting topics thrown in every now and then to break it up heh.
0. The time of the announcement about the Adventure Y.

1. The scope of the Adventure Y.
"Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition DLC Content, English: 396,359 words
Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition: 573,247 words
Adventure Y will come in well above the BGII:EE DLC Content, and somewhere below IWD:EE."

So, there's a lot of new information in the last 22 pages of this discussion, @Faydark
