Sweet lord! what a wonderfull news piece this was.

i just finished PoE (absolutely LOVED it) and now I'm hearing that we're getting a new baldur's gate game! Fuck yeah!

Only question I have is following: Can I import my character from bg1ee to adventure y and then from adventure y to bg2ee ?

It would be great if Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma were useful too (for instance, during dialogues and such)

Some Charm spell effects / dialogues on NPCs / alternate solutions to quests would be great too. Loved the little bit that was added with BG2EE, as BG2 had little of those.

    You are right!
Charm dialogues would be nice as well. I saw that many players enjoyed the lines (and money/items) you can get from charmed creatures.

@bengoshi in the "facts only" thread you have the end time of the countdown clock wrong for London, it ends at 3am since the UK is currently on "British Summer Time" not GMT. Although, now that I think about it, that would have shifted the time in the other direction. Either way, the countdown ends at 3am here in the UK :).
  • CerevantCerevant Member Posts: 2,314
You may also check your countdown date math: the countdown ends on 9 July in Edmonton.

    @cmk24 and @Cerevant Fixed, thanks!

Anyway, it looks like the competition for the GOTY will be fierce. PoE, the Adventure Y, and maybe TToN later in the year... Not to mention other games here...

I read it Baldur's Gate. Dragonspear

When we talk about a new Baldur's Gate game, I find no difference in what sounds better.

Estimated price of this amazing game?
  • kcwisekcwise Member Posts: 2,287
$19.98 would be great, since I believe BG was released in 98? Well, whatever year it was released, that should be the price.

Considering it's a new expansion-sized campaign that's larger than TotSC but smaller than ToB, I'd say somewhere around $20 seems fair.

@MrSexton We have a thread about a fair price for the Adventure Y, with Mister Daigle voting for 9-10 USD and Cuv, SethDavis and Avenger_teambg voting for 17 USD or more.

Anyway, it turns out a post on http://www.trentoster.com/ from April, this year, meant the Adventure Y:

"I’ll try to lay out what I think the paths to success are:
    1. Target a specific audience. The more specific the audience, the better. The smaller your niche, the more likely it isn’t under siege from multiple other developers.
    2. Build one unique feature / game element. This is the core of your marketing plan, this feature needs to be your go to point when anyone asks “why would I play your game vs the thousands of other games out there?”
    3. Get people playing it. You need to get the game into the hands of your target market and watch them play it. Use this to tune the game and at the same time formulate your “pitch” on why people should play the game. Watching people play your game and then asking them questions after can really give you a leap ahead understanding how to market your game.
    4. Talk about it. Tell everyone you know about your game and why it is amazing and why they should get it. Start early on with friends and family. Watch how people react to your “pitch” and tune it accordingly. After pitching about 1000 people on your game you;ll be able to tell what excites them and tune the pitch accordingly. Now you are ready to speak to the press.
    5. Build a press pitch. Build up some key art assets to sell your title. You need good quality title artwork and at least a few solid art assets, including quality screen shots. You should also have some well written information about your game, such as the main appeal and why it is fun.
    6. Get some help. You might be tempted to go it alone and directly e-mail a number of journalists and you might have some success, but probably not. Find a PR agency, ask them about their rate for a few months of work for an indie developer. They can get you the press contact and ensure your pitch gets looked at.
    7. Start the messaging. Plan for at least a month before launch and a few months after launch to start promoting your game. Keep hitting the messages you want through every channel you have and get review copies out through your PR rep.
    8. Keep promoting. From now until the end of time, keep promoting your game."

For the Adventure Y I see it this way:

    1. The BG community is that audience, and a very specific one. A rather small niche of people, who would gladly play a new BG game in the Infinity Engine and would LOVE it.

    2. I think the unique feature here is that we'll finally find out what has happened between BG1 and BG2. I also think that the chance to play a new quality RPG on a tablet is a wonderful element.

    3. From all the coverage of the process of the game development for these 3 years, since 2012, it's clear that a lot of people connected to Beamdog tried it. Different team members, former modders.

    4. Yeah, talking. This thread alone shows that the Adventure Y has been talked about for 2 years at least.

    5. The patch notes for the latest BG patch, I think, is an example of how the Adventure Y document and/or a FAQ, will look like. I also expect the site of the game will give "a few solid art assets, including quality screen shots and some well written information about the game".

    6. This help will come, I'm sure about that. The press and sites will spread the news. I also expect several interviews to appear, as it was the case the the IWDEE announcement and several following months.

    7. "Plan for at least a month before launch" - well, we were told that June had been written off a long ago, and here they come, in July. So that a lot of people could schedule there timetable in order to follow. Even the Edmonton's Mayor is involved now. "A few months after launch" - I read it so that there will be two-three months after the end of the countdown prior to the game release. So that all the pre-orders could be made, all the sites and magazines could be informed and more people could become agitated about the game. This works fine with the general concept of Autumn releases by Beamdog, which usually happen in September-November.

    8. I don't have any doubts about it. We get patches for the EEs every year and I'm sure it will be the thing for the Adventure Y as well. Each patch is usually promoted and being talked about. Also, there're sales for the games or certain platform versions of them - they help to promote as well.

As long as I found something like this, I'm fine.

For some reason the above quote really irks me. It looks as if it written from a very shallow and digressive prospective. I see contrivity and like-who... I mean c'mon my friend, women have a hard enough time as it is right now, don't belittle them with posting paid 'ass and tits with signs' and then stating 'more of this please'.

Those women in that image are people with most likely mentally warped and brainwashed minds from our modern 'beauty marketing' that would feel their self worth, value and thus their skin-deep self confidence become absolutely devastated if they lost their beauty the very next day. Those women in their demoralizing 'line of work' don't need a brain, more-overly nor a heart. They are paid for their sexual appeal and almost nothing else. Although if you are wondering where my distaste sources from within your post, my friend it is that I have realized that today women have socially BIG PROBLEMS. They don't need to feel less than 'braindead bimbos holding signs'; these comparisons subconsciously make the vast majority of women feel less than and gives some of them deep emotional insecurity with their self image and more over their self confidence. Women are strong, wise, intelligent, brave, confident, valued, they deeply love and care for life and are deeply loved and cared for the world around and are progressively independent with every passing day: Naturally. There is no natural need for over zealous use of beauty products nor surgical implants; love and value is not found from the skin, it comes from the heart and no marketing campaign can ever change this truth.

Women are living in a world with diabolical beauty advertising stating that: if you don't have nice clothes, If you don't have nice shoes, if you don't religiously follow the artificially engineered and hyper inflated monthly, seasonal and years trends, if you don't have nice perfume, if you don't over maintain your skin, if you don't use at least 7 over priced [truth be told, mostly just augmented baby] bathing products for your scalp and hair, if you don't have a heavily 'improved' pretty face (a.k.a spend hundreds of dollars every year on over priced, conniving face 'care' products), if you are not the vast minority with a 'perfect hourglass physique', if you don't have a large butt, if you don't have 'the perfect big breasts' that morally corrupt marketers will try to aggressively and ruthlessly brainwash women of all ages (even children with no breasts developed yet) into believing that 'ALL MEN want them' (and to note of which said advertised 'miracle breasts' are usually fake, very overpriced and they will not 'properly last' for ~over 20 years, both natural and of silicone; e.g. they are short lived and will sag, distort and or ripple so any 'relationship' based solely on them is a doomed affection and is not worth the effort 'in the long the run'); it is a lie and one that uses fear mongering techniques to hurt women's self value into spending their money -from their on average unequal pay- to 'fix' and or 'solve' a problem that THEY THE MARKETERS CREATED!!! The down right evil, manipulating and humanely inhuman marketing staffs use these digressive ideals and forcefully violating comparisons in cold calculated advertising to force and besiege women's minds and psyches starting from when they were at their most vulnerable vulnerable and most defenseless, when they were children in their diapers subconsciously absorbing the well planned destructive artificial self image expectation 'campaigns'. These sick 'demons of greed' and corruption use devilishly effective methods to literally brainwash people into making only them richer; they don't care about health of women, they use the vehicles of fear and the weapon of abuse en mass to get their dirty money. They desecratingly aim to crush women's self worth and confidence with wave after wave, year after year, 1,000th advertisement after 1,000th advertisement, ripping into the hearts of millions if not billions and down right torturing the humanity inside everyone into believing that alone, non-augmented, without 'beauty products', women by themselves are nothing, without beauty products they are not a valued person, without beauty products they are not to be loved and will not find love nor be loved, without beauty products they will not be cared for nor will people value their place in the world. The message everywhere world wide is that if you are a woman and you don't modify your very being.. YOU. ARE. LESS. THAN.

I will not tolerate these ideals for I know that they hurt everyone. For they are lies and do not free the world, they enslave the world; our world. The ideal of artifact human beauty enslaves our unborn children into unfair and unjust fates! They enslave the very the hearts and the minds of the majority of the world and they hold back everyone: men, women, elders but most of all our child and their childern's children. They work to make the %1 stay the 1% and they work to enslave, and they work to remove the very human progress for our future by cutting down our children's self confidence. These ideals of artificial beauty, they all, every single one for reduce our potential as a species for we invest ourselves world wide into removing false demons when ideally we should be focusing on removing the real ones hiding, conniving and scheming behind the deceptive labels in our own bath rooms. We can be free and beautiful without overpriced make up and superficial body implants. Men and women have loved and will love each other for all of our time as the Human race and we don't need wicked products that makes problems in our lives only so that they can offer a 'false solution' while charging a steep price. No we do not need these 'false saviors' for love comes from the heart and no 'beauty' product can ever change that. We in the future if we rid our world of these vile marketing practices can one bright day have little girls around the world who ask not of how beautiful they are but of how capable they are. When this day comes our heirs to our future will not ask how they can become more attractive but rather they will ask how they can learn more and become a better person. We are here not to compare ourselves to each other, nor are we here to pursue make up tutorials, 'high fashion trends' nor hair 'care' nor 'beauty' guides; we are ultimately here to pursue our dreams!

That my friends, is why I am irked by my friend @bengoshi 's comment.

Now with that said, my mind is telling me not to post this; but my heart feels otherwise.

Take care and thank you for your open mindedness and your patience.

Well truth be told I was expecting a few lines of text, but not an inspirational speech, eh follow your heart for it will lead you to your dreams.
