@WithinAmnesia I think that should be a separate topic in a board that is more relevant to that discussion, because otherwise we might be taking off on a long, perilous journey through Offtopicland very shortly.

You mean that hasn't happened alrdy? 93 pages...
Its a bit different when its off topic, takes up a whole screen, and is responding to a post made 10 pages before

There simply can't be enough pages to discuss a first Baldur's Gate game in 15 years.
ok guys , it's now 10 days to reveal new baldur's gate game, please write what do you personally expect in this game ? or what would you like to see in it ?

The way I see it, BG1 was heavier on exploration and BG2 had more character depth, so in an "interquel" I'd like to see a combination of both: a decently fleshed out exploration element as well as fairly developed character depth.
That, and I'd like to hear new Minsc dialog voiced by Jim Cummings. Which is something that looks like I'm going to get. Will I be able to hold back tears while witnessing such awesomeness? Find out at 11.

I expect Beamdog to have implemented a new special attack for Minsc (well for Boo) which will inflict blindness on one opponent. I'm sure the developers have spent many hours crafting the new hamster projectile. Finally, you can have Boo "GO FOR THE EYES!!!"

I've been working on the game for a good while now. There have been some moments of awesome, discovery..."Hey wow, this is completely new". But it didn't really hit home until I heard those first voiced lines from old familiar voices, "Holy crap! We're making a new Baldur's Gate game!"
I second Adul's wish. I need more Jim Cummings as Minsc.
But, even more than Jim, I hope they bring back Kevin Michael Richardson to do some new lines as the narrator. We can't have an introductory text scroll without Richardson's great voice reading us the lines.
Now, if Richardson would also do VO for a new NPC or plot character, I might just explode.

If that's Minsc's first new voiced line, then presumably it must be an intro comment for the trailer ... I can't quite imagine Minsc saying that as in-game dialogue!
Now here's a thought ... how do you do a voice-over for this? ...
Minsc: "Go for the eyes, Boo!" Beholder: "No! Go for the nose!" Jan: "Aye! Go for the Eyes!" Beholder: "Know no Eyes from your nose, aye, Nose?" Jan: "No, the ayes have it, Eye! My nose knows my Eyes!" Beholder: [Dire Charms Boo] "Know the noes have it, Nose!" Jan: "Aiee, no, my nose!" Neera: "Aye, Eye, I know no no-nose Nose ... aw heck, what did I just say?"

Good, because that was our goal as well: An even mix of free-form BG1 style exploration and BG2 style focal points.

i really count on a good story, connected to the spirit of baldur's gate word, personally more to bg1, also i really would like to see more tough, tactical battles

new engine features. Porting rest of TobEX - especially support for variables in scripting language (a way to store current commands results inside variables). Support for BG1 and BG2 water type in a single engine. Things like that. Can't wait.
A castle or any other base to claim as your own would make me exceptionally happy. Or an item/feature you can export to BG2EE to improve your stronghold there.
More realistically, any item that you can export to BG2EE to get any kind of advantage/extra feature there would be nice.

I think you won't be disappointed. The battles in Adventure Y can be very challenging, if you want them to be, but we leave that choice up to the player.
To clarify, opponent AI in Adventure Y changes its behavior based on the game difficulty setting that is currently active. For example, enemies won't use their most powerful spells, items and abilities on Normal and Story Mode. They will also not use some of their more advanced tactics on those settings. However, if you increase the difficulty to "Core Rules" (or higher) you can be sure that opponents will fight to the best of their ability.
The number of enemies that you fight also varies depending on the difficulty settings (similar to IWD:EE) as does the actual composition of the battle encounters. Sometimes, a single creature that gets added on a higher difficulty setting can make a battle significantly harder due to its ability to heal or buff its allies.

Add strategic
Something like a conflict between different forces, I presume. I immediately think about that war camp from the leaked screenshots. Strategic battles with the forces from other planes coming to Faerun through the Underdark portal under the Dragonspear Castle. So that the moves the charname makes affect the setup for the main battle. Treacheries and alliances with different organisations. That would be great!

You'd better believe it.
