Did you know that people in Russia now have begun calling the period they are experiencing now as the Time of the Greatest Troubles?
It makes you wonder what would be a Time of Greatest Troubles in the Realms if the Time of Troubles involved a pissed Overgod stripping the powers of all gods who then just decided to destroy and kill each other taking pieces of the Realms with them, destroying some cities etc...

The death of the goddess of magic and the Weave of magic coming untangled?

Isn't the Death of Mystra some kind of tradition in the Realms by now?
After defeating Icasaracht in the final battle of IWD:HOW her corpse drops stomache down on the ground. Yet in the following ending cinematic, the corpse is on its back.
I think I remember being able to dominate Illasara. It might've only been possible in the original non-enhanced Throne of Bhaal; I just checked to see if it was possible in the enhanced edition and she seems to be immune to it now. I also remember that when I dominated her, she had a whole big list of powerful spells (including level 8 and 9, I think) that she doesn't actually use.
Firetooth's fire damage strikes as a level 6 spell, and can therefore be used to break down spell protections. Ice Arrows and Bolts of Lightning work the same way.
Thieves can hide in shadows right in front of enemies if they're blinded. The check for hide in shadows is based not on the proximity of the enemy, but the vision of the thief. If you time the hide in shadows ability correctly, you can make a blind thief perpetually invisible (as a bonus, the Blindness spell lasts for 10 turns), and another character can clear the fog of war instead, allowing the thief to backstab without ever becoming visible, albeit at a -4 THAC0 penalty.
EDIT: In EE, thieves can also lay traps in plain sight if blinded. This does not, however, work in vanilla.
The electrical damage from Borok's Fist, the +2 hammer you get from Mencar Pebblecrusher in Waukeen's Promenade, strikes as a level 8 spell. You can refill spell slots on a mage with Spell Trap by hitting him or her with Borok's Fist. Firetooth works the same way, as do many other items.
EDIT: Black Blade of Disaster and the Staff of the Magi (but only the Lightning Bolt+Fireball ability) are the only items that can restore level 9 spell slots via Spell Trap. This is a much faster method of recharging spells than using Spell Trap and Project Image, and much more reliable than using Wish.
EDIT 2: In EE, only the Black Blade of Disaster can restore level 9 spells. Borok's Fist, Firetooth, the Staff of the Magi, and various other items have spell levels of 0 in EE, and therefore have no impact on Spell Turning/Deflection/Trap spells.

This does not, however, apply to traps, which a thief cannot lay when in sight of an enemy, even if blinded.
The last one is the Coat of Arms of Daggerford. I haven't managed to find an old image anywhere, but the dagger on the flag is quite telling.
Seeing the flags of Baldur's Gate, Waterdeep and Daggerford in the trailer for SoD is understandable.
From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonspear_Castle: "a concentrated effort by local municipalities including Daggerford, Waterdeep, and Baldur's Gate finally cleaned the castle out for good."
It's not an "IE did you know thing", but still it's closely tied to rpgs.
Did you know that Crag Hack, a famous hero from Heroes of Might and Magic 3 series, who also takes part in much later games such as Might & Magic: Heroes VI and Might & Magic X: Legacy, was actually a PnP character of Jon Van Caneghem, a founder of New World Computing and a man who created HOMM series?
In his latest interview that is about the 20th anniversary of HoMM series, Jon Van Caneghem confesses he enjoyed playing pen-and-paper role-playing games with this character while he was young.
It immediately reminds me of Cameron Tofer and Minsc, his PnP character.
He also speaks that several characters in HoMM 3 were based on people from the development team (including their portraits), which again reminds me of Cameron Tofer and Garrick this time.
This is the twitch for Might and Magic fans, the interview starts at 1:27
Haste causes thief ability timers to move twice as fast. A hasted thief may try to hide in shadows every 3 seconds instead of 6. This means a Shadowdancer or blind thief may backstab twice per round even without a place to hide.

If you are polite in giving it back you get 2500xp
If you are rude you only get 1000xp

They probably went for the middle one, the one on the left looks almost like a goblin.

And we all know that Khalid starts Running when he gets a morale failture.
Now imagine their family scene: berserk Jaheira running after Khalid...
