I am strongly imagining an ambush scenario which seems all but unbeatable. A few hardcore folks will figure out a way to kill off the side ambushers and start attacking Jon directly, and once you've gotten Irenicus just low enough on HP (or use some other insta-win effect) he'll say, "ENOUGH!" and just own your face. It's not a matter of winning, but of seeing how long you can hold out and how far you get.
OR I can see them being cheesy, having a maze or a flesh to stone spell (with no save) cast on you as you watch hopelessly.
This is still going on? I hope ppl don't plan an adventure Z, otherwise i don't know if my lifespan as an human will be suffice to exist until it's release!
You are thinking about the Prequel to the Lord of the Rings
Ahh, yes, you have the right of it. (Actually I was referencing a throwaway line about "The 'C' Team" but no one else would think that was funny besides me.)
I hoped that Y was a pre-quel. But it will be a in-between-quel. I don't dislike the idea, we can travel trough the clocloudpeaks. Or enter the gnoll fortress and use hidden tunnels to go under the peaks.
Hmm, the thought of a prequel would be cool. I don't know if I ever said so, but I agree with folks who think that playing a younger version of Gorion, or having him as an NPC, would be an interesting story (and might make his sacrifice more poignant by getting to know him better). A strange twist would be playing from the point of view of Sarevok or his foster father, as others have also said (if this was during the same time period, would you call that a companion story? A parallelquel?). Come to think of it, there are a LOT of prequel stories that could be interesting to tell, whereas the bridge between BG1 and BG2 (which may literally involve a bridge) seems like a much more narrow and tight confinement for making a story.
...Adventure Y isn't going to be a sandbox, is it? The storytelling needs are going to require a more linear zone progression. Awwww... ::sadness::

PS Wait a sec... I'm a dev, I can't spill the beans like that... Oh no, I'm so promoted to a customer now! NOOOOO!!!
I guess aldeth sashenstar may take you to dorns deep
According to http://en.beregost.com/bg1/bestiaire/MERSIL2-glayde.htm , he has amazing stats:
Strengh: 9
Dexterity: 9
Constitution: 9
Charisma: 9
Wisdom: 9
Intelligence: 9
I have always wanted to play with such a character
Maybe after CHARNAME has sent Silke to the Abyss, Glayde becomes a professional bard and entertains the Grand Dukes of BG instead of Silke.
DO IT.

You know my humor :P
