I agree that Adventure Y is probably an expansion bridging between BG1 and BG2. What it *should* have been is an adventure expanding the Gnoll Stronghold by finding a secret passage to the inner/underground sections of it. ^_~
I think quite strongly that it's going to show the characters kidnapped at the end. But to tie it to the canon party, all BG1 NPCs need to be present in the ambush or trap at time of kidnap.
EDIT - This is assuming that a (probably paladin) CHARNAME didn't tell Khalid to strip naked and fight a bear. All NPCs are alive and present, eh?
Canon wouldn't have ALL BG1 NPCs involved in the ambush. We know that Edwin wasn't there for example. (or if he was, it was because he was selling out the party).
The only characters who MUST be present are the canon party. Some of the other BG1 NPCs could be there, but they don't need to be, they could have already gone their separate ways either before or during adventure Y.
I doubt it would be viable, either in terms of budget or logistics, to reassemble all but a small portion of the original voice cast.
