Ok then. Though I reckon the game might be over soon anyway because @booinyoureyes is sooo close! :P
Steals a second guess cos I'm greedy like that. Ooh! Ooh! Is it Josephine? It's Josephine isn't it. Tell me it'a Josephine. Is it Is it Is it? *gets tranquilised*...Apologies for that.
We had one of these threads a whole back but it was a long time ago and I couldn't find it, and I just saw an activity post and figured "why not?" So yea, pretty self explanatory.
Yeah can't go wrong with these types of threads!
Mine is fairly simple (although I've had tons of handles elsewhere on le internet), I like the word and its variations, and sounds like / is similar to my name, too. Sums it up, nothing too deep or complicated!
I should have thought of that. @booinyoureyes i guessed that already. I'll second @Daunt's Joanna. Edit: speaking of real names, my first name is a traditional halfling name, according to 5th edition:)
Southpaw is usually called a left-handed player in some sports. I do amateur boxing and usually box in the Southpaw stance = left-handed stance. Though I do swap it with Orthodox, as I am not really left-handed. Neither I am right-handed. I am ambidextrous and use both hands quite evenly so I got to choose and I chose the Southpaw stance, because it's much more difficult to fight against by people who aren't used to it. I use this nick for my brawling/warrior characters and my most memorable BG char was a monk.
Alternatively, I do sometimes use crow (old nick of mine, especially for mages), or Tom Mischief (when playing tricksters, Thieves etc...)
Boo has it. 10 points! Well done, @booinyoureyes. It's Joan. Which, when you think of Jeanne d'Arc is actually rather fitting for a paladin, but I was only 10 at the time and had never heard of her. However, I think Jairyanna Cavalieria is a great name for a paladin and I'm sticking to it

Ok, that's over. Moar stories, plz! ^_^
Jairyanna's real name is Joan.
Jairyanna is now a badass.
Continue. ^_^
yeah, that not an old lady name. that's a cool name!
I'm principally of German and Scottish descent, and I like German words. Schneider, which means "cutter," was my favorite German word when I was younger, likely influenced by some game or anime. Schneider was, naturally, taken on everything, especially AOL (still fairly huge provider at the time), so I went with Schneidend, which means "cutting." I've used it ever since, for probably like 14 or 15 years by now. I've started using DBAM or DGoose when I can't use Schneidend, as that's actually my nickname among friends these days, but old habits die hard and I just can't make the switch. I always have this nagging feeling somebody I used to know online will recognize the name and pop up.
When I joined Sorcerer's Place, I was reading a lot of Edgar Allan Poe, so I took the name Montresor from the insane killer in The Cask of Amontillado. I added _SP (for Sorcerer's Place) when I joined these forums.
Mine is a combination of my initials and the meaning of my middle name. I think it would make a good pen name. Which, I suppose, would require that I write something first. Minor details!
@booinyoureyes is a pretty cool name, by the way. Can't go wrong with a Minsc and Boo reference!

Huh, cool. I actually thought that @Blackraven was going to be the Poe reference, but that is pretty cool.
my first thought was like "EliteHardcoreDUDE20cmLONG" or "InternetAnarchyROCKZPatriarch" but i thought that would be to offensive and in an sensitive environment (the I-net) these days one has to make a compromise... having one of the greatest females in your name as a male is a cool thing. I love baba yaga because she was wild, crazy and independant. She gave a damn about anyone and everything except mother nature

I always thought your name was based on that story since I read it but I had never asked so to confirm
(and I didn't want to use my own name. It's an old lady name and didn't really fit with the strong, confident Paladin I was creating. 10 points if you can guess what it is :P).
Judy?
My name is Judy ... and you think it's an old lady name .... wanders off to a corner of the room to sob in the dark Oh well, it's not that bad - officially I'm Judith, I was always Judy as a kid but during adulthood that changed and now everyone calls me Jude.
The atory behind my name is really, really boring - just like me. I'm a New Zealander (a kiwi) and I'm a doctor. I'm kiwidoc everywhere except where I lost password and e-mail in a massive hard drive burnout. Those places I am Jude-the-obscure. The reason for that - see the above paragraph.

Aw! I love the name Judith. If it helps, the reason Judy first came to mind is because one of my co-workers is an older lady who is actually named Judy. So... Guilt by association, I suppose. Jude is also pretty cool.
@kaguana I remember a similar thread on another forum when someone said they were very surprised by my explanation - they had thought kiwidoc was the name of a Welsh sorcerer!
@Nonnahswriter I always tease my mum for naming me after a lady who seduced an invading general over several nights, and then hammered a tent peg through his skull. Nice role model to follow ;D

And here I thought it was just the name of kickass classical music I first heard on the Amiga:
A friend of mine at school started callng me Pibaro (he was saying my nickname Pippo in an unusal way). There were many Pippo, but I have never met any other Pibaro (except once, a PIzzeria BAr ROsticceria somewhere in Italy) so I've always used it on the internet.
I am really into paleontology and collecting Pleistocene mammal fossils. About 16 years ago on the Black Isle forums I created my forum name based on a fossil I found that was named after Baron Cuvier - an extinct gomphothere (elephant) that I found part of a tusk from in Texas - Cuvieronius tropicus. My forum name was originally 'Cuvieronius' because it sounded cool and was hard to comprehend without the backstory - but that got kinda hard for people to type - so I shortened it to just "Cuv". 1. @Nimran
2. @kcwise
3. @Schneidend
4. @Montresor_SP
Nimran mainly comes from nimrod. Nimrodian just didn't sound right.

And @kiwidoc isn't boring it nice that you took something from your country and what you do / did in life and combine them together
