I’m so glad that you were able to experience that @Shandyr
I believe that there are more loving and accepting people out there than you might think. I’m so glad that you took the chance and opened up to this young man.
There are haters, some that never really had a chance to learn any differently. You can’t help where or who you are born too. You can’t help what values you were taught as a child. But I believe that many people only need to be exposed to someone wonderful like yourself to begin the path to understanding and acceptance.
Thank you so much for sharing your joyful moment with us. It fills me with renewed hope and joy.
Aah. But would he understand the Broccoli overlordship @Shandyr
And hey! We all accept and love you here! If you lived in Britain or I in Germany we would probably go out for a drink every week (but we would need to visit @Buttercheese at least once a month or she would get jealous)
I told one of the guys at the homeless shelter that even though his work experience was scant, we were going to make his resume as strong as possible. He seemed a little encouraged.
This is kind of a long one, so please bear with. My son was born with a genetic disorder called DiGeorge syndrome. It can cause all kinds of nasty things from psychological problems to physical deformities. He was born with deformed and very weak heart that put him at risk sudden death at pretty much any moment without warning. Heart surgery could correct it, but he needed to make it to 6 months to be strong enough to survive it. He was given a 15% chance to make it that far. "But Thacobell", you say, "This is a happiness thread" Don't worry, this where it gets good. My son is now 8 months old, his surgery was 2 months ago and was a complete success! He isn't expected to need any further major surgery. Not only that, but he has advanced leagues ahead of what was expected developmentally. According to his Physical and Occupational therapists, his strength and fine motor skills are leagues past what is expected for him this soon after surgery. His talking skills and problem solving are also far better than any other DiGeorge baby out therapists has worked with. I am one very relieved and very proud papa
@ThacoBell As father of a 10 months old boy, turning 11 months on the 15th, I can only imagine how you felt. I just hope all the best for your brave boy.
My dad and I watch a lot of sappy movies together. He's a big fan of Pride and Prejudice, and is currently enjoying the queer and curious costumes in a 1995 British-made Pride and Prejudice movie.
When in doubt about your life, what you do, who you are, basically everything, like I am now, take a look at this penguin.
Just look at it. It's small, ridiculous and just one tiny penguin among hundreds of similar lil penguins, but it gets up and keeps plodding forward. Be this penguin.
It's really wonderful that this thread exists, especially given the particularly trying times we seem to live in. We could all use a little positivity.
I don't have anything super amazing to contribute, but one kind of nice thing did happen to me a few days ago. I've got my first ever Creative Writing class this semester (because I can't keep relying on random internet people for feedback on my work) and we recently got back our first assignments. I was really nervous, because my prof is a published novelist who actually knows what she's doing and warned us that she's a tough-love sort of grader. Against all my expectations, she handed back my story with comments that were nothing but praise. To be honest, I'm still having trouble registering that that's a thing that happened. It was probably an error in the matrix, but at least I got to be on cloud nine for the rest of the day.
The Helmets of Opposite Alignment have always been hated for their power to turn good guys evil, but we could use them for a good purpose: we could put them on the heads of bad guys to turn them good!

*Son of Imoen immediately heads for the Sorcerous Sundries and orders Helmets of Opposite Alignments by the score*
@Balrog99 , She's beautiful. I wish I had a little heart "love" icon to click here like on Facebook. Words can't express how important my own cats are to me.
Thank you @BelgarathMTH. She is one of the prettiest cats I've ever had. Very energetic but a bit clumsy for a feline. She sure is a lot of fun though!
The Prestidigitation, Druidcraft, and Thaumaturgy cantrips from 5th edition D&D are so cool! I especially like Thaumaturgy, with how it can make one's voice three times as loud. I mean, it's awesome for a cantrip to be able to triple anything (I would've expected it to only make one's voice 20% louder or something like that).
A band played at my family's house tonight. All of the musicians are really talented and the lead singer is very quick-witted. People are having a good time and hooting and everything.
Also, some of my dad's friend's daughters played with our dog. It was really cute.
Also, my dad discovered how to flush a broken toilet using a vice grip.

The vice grip smelled like cold spaghetti.
...Why?
Are you sure you want to know the answer for that question?

But we need to destroy the broccoli...
I too fear zombies. Such badly decomposed corpses do not deserve the right to walk about. The lot of them give the undead a bad name! Yes. Absolutely right. Fear is too strong a word. It is more a quiet dislike in all honesty.
Now, more RP adventures will appear!

After 2+ years of struggling with driving lessons, car break-downs, and everything else, I'm so glad I can finally say: I got this done.

My cat. Got her last September. I'd nearly forgotten how much fun a kitten can be!
